She padded quietly through the pridal lands, her dark coat, tipped in bloody red and the palest white shimmered with the health and beauty of youth and upon her head strode the odd skull which she had attained as a cub and still carried with her. The skull wasn't always on her head but it was always on her some where, she had felt for the longest time that looking through the skull provided her with a different outlook on life and more to the point, made her a better huntress. She looks to her left and shakes her head, the tangerine coloured male hadn't believed her when she said it so she was out to prove it.

Lecky smiles wistfully, it had been a long time since a lioness had hunted for him and he wasn't about to be put off by the fact that this one looked almost scary with her odd garment of thick hair and a large skull upon her head. Lecky had been old for a long time, his mane scraggly and full of knots and his eyes glazed slightly with a film that showed eventually he would be blind and only able to fulfil his role by using his other senses. Still, this pride was one that stuck together and he appreciated that, he felt safe for the first time in a long time even if an odd haze clouded his old mind and messed with his senses, the shadows occasionally jumped at him, but they always had just not quite so vividly as they did now. "Lead on young lady, I'm right behind you." He says, his voice low and rough his smile widening slightly though the fur on his back prickled with the shiver that rolled down his back at the rippling shadows around them.

Volvagia smiles "Don't worry old one, I'll show you what a good huntress I am, my extra eyes help me, they show me the best things to attack."

(her adult name is Jura'ujiti, I need to get it updated)

Oh, trees. Jura loved trees. It was easy to find her, day after day, just staring at the trees. There was usually nothing in the trees, cause if a bird was sitting in them, the trees were too busy talking to them and not her. Hmph. She would always grow jealous of this, and migrate to another tree.

As of this moment, she was doing just that. These trees had too many other things in the way, and she was beginning to get frustrated. "I need a tree!" she grumbled, her tail lashing behind her as she was starting to feel a little desperate.

"Oh!" She bounced over to a small baby tree, but it was an empty tree. She plopped her little butt right down in front of it, and stared at it. It was a quiet thing, but at least she was getting some sort of conversation at the moment.

The dark lioness paused mid step as she spotted the very brightly coloured female. For a long moment she wondered what to do, the lioness was very shiny, which she put down to her skull helmet. Her skull made some things very shiny! This lioness was just one of them. "You're very shiny." She states, saying it as if it was a truth her paws taking her closer to the bright green lioness "Very shiny indeed." She plonks herself down in front of the lioness and the sapling, her soft golden eyes peering through the dark hollow eyes of the skull helm, completely distracted by the shininess of the lioness. "Why are you so shiny?"

The soft orange male lion shakes his head, his golden mane falling around his cheeks, the knots and brambles sticking out of his tattered mane at odd angles. "I don't know you, and you aren't a shadow." He suggests to the green lioness, taking a step forwards, though he stayed on his feet he poked Volvagia on the butt with a toe "I thought you were hunting." He huffs looking around quietly at the gloom cast by the trees. "Are you hunting too?" He tilts his head, slightly to the left, looking off in to the near distance behind Jimbi to look at something moving behind her.

Jura didn't hear them at first. She was in a deep conversation with the little tree, as little things always had worries. As she kept hearing the word 'shiny', though, it dragged her out of her conversation to confront those that bothered her.

And normally she would be very up front and angry about being interrupted, but she didn't recognize them at all. Gaping a little, she paused, unsure as how to reply.

"I am not shiny, or hunting!" she sulked, but quickly remembering her manners. She wanted to keep talking to the tree, but it was apparent that there would be something crawling on the tree, and she's lose her conversation partner for the afternoon.

With a siiiiigh, she looked over to them. "I was talking to this little tree," she said, patting it near the base of it's think trunk. "It needed a little advice, which I gladly gave."

Volvagia continues to stare, her eyes almost hidden now, her skull had slipped just a bit, but she could see the shimmering green of the lioness before her. "You are shiny, I promise." She says turning her attention on the little tree, it was troubled? She couldn't hear trees, she could see the tree though and it was very dull, but a little shiny down the bottom. "i think you fixed it." She says simply turning her gaze back on Jura "I'm Volvagia, at the moment, until I change it to something better." she smiles looking at Lecky's paw with extreme confusion "I'm not shiny, but I was hunting, do you want to come and hunt? I'm a hunting lion, my skull helps." She grins, though her grin looked very strange half hidden under her lid.

"Yesyes, you're a hunting lioness, can we get on with it please? The shadows are shifting rather quickly around these trees, I don't approve of them at all." He humphs looking at the green lioness his gaze shifting to her shadow. "Your shadow is very suspicious lady green, very suspicious indeed." he grunts sitting down at last, it seemed hunting wasn't happening at the moment so putting his legs at ease seemed to be a sensible thing to do.

Jura wasn't phased by the old man's mean words. They might not be mean intentionally, but she knew that she wasn't suspicious. They were. Especially him. She narrowed her eyes at him for a moment before turning back to skull-wearer. At least she was somewhat polite.

"Jura," she replied, almost never going by her full name. Nah, that was only when she was in trouble.

"And I'm not hunting today, no," she said with a shake to her head. "Though I think he wouldn't want me to hunt anyway," she said with a sniff. "Maybe next time, though. What do you think you'll go hunt for?"

She liked her trees very much, thanks, but didn't want to be too mean to the yellow lion. She'd just keep those comments to herself.

Volvagia grins broadly, her pale watery gaze looking over the lioness "Something furry and horny." She says quite simply as if that perfectly explained exactly what she was hunting, she had been following the scent of something with fur and horns, not tusks but definitely hoofy "It's definitely something hoofy. I'll find out when I find them." She grins her words were clearly supposed to be deciphered by whom ever she was speaking to. "My skull thinks they are thattaway," She pauses and points in some random direction "if you want to come, I can hunt for us all, I like making food for others, it makes them happy and full."

The large scraggly male shakes his head "Invite the whole pride why don't you? It's bad enough she has an odd shadow and all of these trees are making their shadows closer." He holds his breath for a moment and shakes his head, perhaps casting away the thought he had lingering there that something was definitely trying to get him from the shadows. "Stupid big shadows, nothing there" he mumbles under his breath casting his gaze away from the surrounding area and concentrating on the ground which wasn't nearly as scary shadow wise, after all, all he could see below him was his own shadow.

Volvagia rolls her eyes beneath her skull and snickers "I think that would take too long orange man. But I'm sure Jura would like to come, wouldn't you Jura?" she beams "If you don't mind leaving your tree for a little bit, he looks like he was in deep conversation with you." She hums, rocking on he heels and waiting for an answer.

Jura puffed her cheeks up at the orange lion, but quickly let herself calm down. She hadn't noticed before, but it was apparent now that he couldn't quite see too well. Still, to consider the trees bad! It got her all ruffled up. Biting her tongue, she decided to just speak to him if he spoke to her. Otherwise, this other lioness was nice enough. Scary enough with that skull, too. Her tail twitched, deciding just how scary she was....

Staring at the red and black lioness for a while longer, she finally snapped out of her haze. Odd, she knew she wasn't 'talking' to her, but the skull seemed strange. Different.

"I'll go," she said, itching at her belly with her hind foot. "All the trees are too busy talking to the birds, like they're better than me," she huffed, still jealous of that fact. She never would get over it, but would just have to deal with it. "I can watch." And it would be interesting, as she'd never seen a lioness wearing a skull actually hunt before.

Volvagia got to her paws and nodded "Good, follow me." She turns back in the direction she had been heading, her tail hanging low her head swivelling making the skull move in an almost mechanical manner. She grins a broad grin as she shifts in to a lower stalking pose "You two stay there, I need to be nice and quiet now."

Lecky rolls his eyes and follows after the two lionesses grumbling a bit, this was supposed to be a hunting trip for his belly not for everyones. He grunts and glares at the bright green lioness before putting his gaze back on the path before him. When told to stop, he flumps down on the ground and closes his eyes. Closing his eyes meant he didn't have to see the shadows that were crawling in closer to get him. Closed eyes were much better "As you say skull lady." He states waiting for Volvagia to return.

The dark lioness slips off through the tall grasses and shadowy trees, the herd wasn't too far ahead and that meant she could see them quite clearly but that her dark coat hid her in the very shadows that the orange male was afraid of. Turning her head this way and that she smiles as her eyes fall on a large female, she was glowey, glowey meant she could be caught, her skull always told her which ones could be caught. Sinking to her belly she crawls as close as possible before diving from the undergrowth, her claws unsheathing and her skull seeming to make the kill, her mouth, hidden under the macabre mask, clamped around the large beasts throat as it fell slowly to the ground. She was a great huntress, her mask always ensured she made the best kill she could.

Lecky lifts his old form up and pads over to Volvagia watching the rest of the herd scatter. He sits, weary of the newly dead beast, watching it's dying shadow. "I concede, your skull makes you a very good huntress. Lets eat." He smirks his scraggly old body setting itself down at the best place, he was hungry, he wasn't about to walk away from such a large kill. He glances back at the green lioness "You stay as far away from me as you can suspicious shadow, I don't want to be attacked while I'm eating!" He grumps, barely containing his excitement as he watches the beast take it's last breath.

Jura was a little more amused at how the old lion acted. She kept her peace, sitting just a little further away as she watched the female do her thing. It was interesting, since she thought hunting with a skull might actually hinder hunting, but it didn't. Intrigued, she watched as she tilted her head from the side, trying to figure it out, but not getting anywhere. She wasn't even thinking of getting up, but the sudden movement of the old lion to approach the kill jolted her out of her mindset. With a sigh, she pulled herself up, still mesmerized but unable to figure out this odd hunting technique.

She sat again, just a bit away from the old lion. It would be fun to scare him with her shadow, as she thought it was all games with the oldie. Perhaps the other female wouldn't find it quite as funny, and so she would wait for a later time; games were always fun!

"Nice kill," she complimented with a slight purr, impressed indeed.

Finally releasing the creature she had taken down she smiles beneath the mask tilting it back slightly to reveal her mouth which was caked in the blood of the animal. She didn't like looking through her own eyes, everything seemed so dull, almost black and white, nothing shimmered even the brightly coloured lioness seemed to be less vibrant without her skull over her eyes.

"The skull makes it easier, it knows what it wants." She smiles lowering the skull helmet back over her dull yellowish eyes. "Please, dig in, the skull lets me catch things best when it's for others." She grins proudly beneath the lid of bone and horns.

The old orange male didn't need anyone to tell him to dig in he tears at the creatures stomach and starts to eat, his smokey eyes glancing nervously around him as he ate, clearly in a hurry to be away from the shadow of the green female, but he wasn't about to give up his place at this kill, he was hungry. "You just eat the brainy bits bright shadow, I'll be gone soon enough and you can have the middle then." He snorts quickly returning his attention to the meat. A good meal, would keep the shadows away for a while, they were more weary when he wasn't hungry.

Jura sniffed as she looked at the orange male. She was hoping that she wouldn't have to see him again. If he didn't like shadows, well, that meant that her beloved trees were safe. In the end that's all that mattered to her. Still...hm. It was an odd feeling, having a general dislike for someone. She savored the feeling, wondering if it would ever happen again.

"It must know everything!" she commented to Volvagia. Wow, would hunting really be that easy with a skull on it? Wait, her mind warned her. That was a special skull, and not all of them would do that. She was mildly disappointed, but that only meant that Volvagia's was unique, and unique was the heart of life here.

She turned her attention back to the male for the moment, watching him as he voraciously consumed the meal. She hadn't planned on eating anything, but she would wait her turn. If only because he was older than her, respect for elders sort of thing, and nothing more.

Volvagia nodded a very sage nod "Oh yes, it knows the world inside and out, it's been around for a very long time. It's eyes have sen everything so they know where to look, where to find." She smiles a calming smile though mostly her smiles were invisable beneath her skull the general idea that she was smiling was almost conveyed through the very garment she wore.

The old male gets to his paws and eyes Jura i a very suspicious manner, he takes a moment to clean off the worst of the blood from his maw, dripping would only attract the shadows and undo all the good work of filling his stomach. "Your skull is a very talented hunter, you should keep very tight hold of it." He states turning to Jura his eyes narrowing. "You and your shadow have permission to stay as far away from me as possible. I don't want that thing any where near me!" He watches her wearily for a second, wondering if he was going to have to run away from this scene, which was something he found some what difficult. His bones had been creaky for a long time and running these days was harder, especially since the world kept becoming more shadowy as time went on, every day he opened his eyes and the corners were shadier than they used to be. Grunting he nods a thanks to the black lioness and turns away from her heading towards the main pride, he could find some where perfectly sunny to rest in and the sun would help him to chase all the shadows away.

The dark lioness shakes her head "Enjoy your day sir." She whispers turning to Jura. "He's a little odd, I think his age has scrambled his brains." She giggles quietly, she felt sorry for the old male, she doubted he realised his eyes were fading, her skull showed her though, his eyes were dull instead of shiny like the rest of him. She supposed his suspicions were right, his world must seem very shadowy compared to how it used to. Shaking away the thought, she was pleased with the compliment about her skull, though she knew of course that it made the world a better place for everyone, it was a very kind skull after all. Laying down at the head of the animal she had killed she cracks its skull with her powerful jaws. "We can eat in peace now." She smiles at Jura. "I was helping the old one really, he looked so hungry and frightened. Silly old thing." she giggles, saying the words as if the old lion was a precious toy rather than an actual living breathing creature.

Jura watched the male walk off. Hmph. At least she was done with him for now. She turned her attention right back to the female, glad that the irritation was gone now.

"Only a little," she snickered. It was obvious that something was wrong, but it couldn't only him going blind. She has a suspicion about how he was going to be in the pride. It had been a little quiet, but now with how much busier it was, she wondered....ah! Nothing to worry about for now, hopefully she wouldn't come across him again, that was all.

"Old indeed," she huffed, her mind still not allowing her to completely drop the subject. She dipped her head down to eat a little, though her hunger was absent. Still, no use in wasting what was there, and she was thankful for the meal; it meant she wouldn't have to go hunt for herself for a while, only if it was requested of her to find something.

In the middle of chewing, she glanced back up, but any trace of the old male was gone. Man, he really didn't like her, huh?

"Thanks for the meal," she offered Volvagia with a smile.

The dark lioness nods quietly, her pale eyes almost invisible beneath her skull helmet. "You're most welcome. We should maybe drag it back to the main pride huh? I'm sure there will be someone hungry hmm." She wraps her mouth around one leg of the antelope and starts to drag the creature, though she pauses and releases the leg to smile at Jura.

"I'll take it back if you wish to return to your trees." She smiles lifting the leg once again and dragging the beast towards the main pride. There were many mouths to feed and she was happy to feed them. Her skull was only so generous when there were so many mouths to feed.
