Azar flicked her tail around a few times before letting out a small yawn, she was rousing herself out of sleep. It was early and not many were awake but there was one part that was awake for sure.. A lot of teachers and the younger cubs that they were getting ready to teach were starting to get ready and wake up for training. she wasn't waking up for what she was up to. She was waking up because of the fact that she knew she was going to get her first cub to train, it made her excited. She had always wanted to teach some one in the pride, she loved fighting and she loved all that stuff that had to do with it. she had been wanting to train some one for a while and this was a start this was her start for training other cubs and such.

She grinned ear to ear as she stood up flicking her tail around before letting out a small yawn. Managing to stand up and shake the drowsiness off of her. She laughed slightly as shes started to trot in the direction that she was supposed to meet the little cub that she was going to meet, she knew that it was a male, that was one thing for sure. Another thing was that she knew the cub was... she was pretty sure it was the general's

The day had come.

The little striped cub's gleaming eyes had stared out at the desert since the wee hours of the morning, impatiently waiting for the sun's gradual appearance, and though he had done his best to avoid waking his family, he was certain that his father had been listening to his every move since the moment Atesh had awoken.

Still, nobody would blame the cub for his excitement - that was, he didn't think anybody would. They were all well aware of what he was like, and how eager he had always been to become a warrior just like his father.

Just like Da. The thought brought a smile curling onto Atesh's face, and warmed him against the gentle chill of the desert night. For who else could possibly be more inspiring than his parents? To be able to look adversity in its eyes and laugh in its face like his parents had done... He wondered if he would ever have the chance.

At long last, he saw the first rays of the sun stretching into the sky, tinging it pink and orange and everything in between. The top of the fiery sun followed, and Atesh leapt to his paws.

"Da! Da! Sun's up, I'm leaving!" He sang out, and without waiting for an answer, he clambered over his father's sleeping form and raced out onto the sands.

Azar found her way toward the meeting spot where it was said she was going to meet up with the little cub. she paused and looked around she didn't see anyone that was a cub, she snorted for a moment and shook her head, she really hoped the little thing wasn't late, she didn't want that at all. She wasn't ready to have to be really tough on the cub already, but she didn't want some one to be late for what was supposed to be done. She sighed shaking her head and sat back making herself comfortable on her haunches.

She flicked her tail around a little bit before glancing around, where could that little cub be. She was wondering what he was going to act like. She was really hoping that whoever it was it was going to be a good kid instead of a monster like some of the cubs around here. Oh she really hoped so. Then again if it was really the general's son then he should be pretty well behaved... Or at least thats what she was telling herself or at least hoping for.

As the went to look to the side she noticed a small cub coming her way and she paused her thinking a small smile grew on her face that had to be the cub. She glanced at the black cub She was already feeling a little connected to the cub she knew that some cubs that didn't have red on them were picked on because of it she knew she was when she was younger it gave her all the reason to train harder and harder to want to be a great warrior. She looked away for a moment waiting for the cub to approach.

Dang it! Atesh glanced up at the steadily rising sun as he dashed across the land, sending sprays of sand spewing up behind him with every stride. He had underestimated how much time it would take to get him to the meeting spot, which was unlike him, but he supposed his anxiety - though a good kind of anxiety - had clouded his judgement somewhat.

He crested a dune, recognizing that he was near, and as he descended almost at full speed, he noticed the black lioness that was to be his mentor. Ah, no, no, no! If there was anything Atesh truly disliked, it was being late. And being ridiculed - but that was another story entirely.

"Sorry I'm late!" He blurted out the moment he had dashed into hearing range. "I'm not usually late, I think I judged the distance wrong, and-" Here, he paused to take a heaving breath and restore oxygen into his little body. "Da always says not to leave before the sun comes up, an' he sleeps in the entrance so's I can't climb over him until the sun's up, and..." He trailed off. Ah, excuses. He didn't particularly like those, either.

Azar looked over noticing the black cub getting closer and closer, when she herd the voice of the cub he looked over and arched a brow at him. She looked at him watching the cub before shaking her head. "Enough excuses." She clicked her tongue of of the roof of her mouth before shaking her head at the male, standing up as she did and circling around him taking his looks in. "Just don't do it again." She tsked the small cub before thinking about what she was going to do. She was probably just as nervous as the little cub was. She did have plans to do with the cub but they escaped her mind.

She flicked her tail around before looking toward where the oasis was. "Come with me." The sun was still slowly rising and she had an idea, she wasn't going to start right away with the fighting but she was going to give him a talk, she wanted to get to know him a little more, this was going to prove interesting.

"No excuses," he agreed with a nod of his head. The streaked forelock, now much thicker with his age, dangled into his usually bright eyes as he did so, and he shook it away with a huff. His gaze followed the dark lioness as she circled him, focusing on the darker patch of fur that formed winged markings on her back.

"My Da told me some things about your Da," he ventured, leaping to his paws to follow Azar - yes, that was her name - off across the sands. "Told me a little bit about the war, but... not a lot. Says I wouldn't unnerstand, and, I don't think I unnerstand what he has told me so far, but, just that they all made the pride alright again.

"But..." Here he paused, deep in thought as he trotted after the lioness, then he raised his head to search her face for answers. "I don't see how it could be sick to start with."

Still, despite everything he had yet to process and grasp, he did understand that it was because of the many warriors that Kidondo had had by his side that they had managed to heal the Firekin again.

Azar looked at the cub and a small smile broke through as the cub repeated what she said, she quickly wiped it off then nodded. "I'm glad you understand!" She nodded as she lead the cub with her head held high she was going to take him to where a bunch of large rocks where a lot that you could sit up on but the reason why was because it was near the border and you could see a lot of it. "Really?" She asked a little amused, she loved hearing stories about her father, she slowed down a little bit so she was walking about the same pace as the little lion.

"I've heard some things about the war myself." she thought out loud before smiling slightly. "My father is a brave lion." She laughed slightly before looking down at the small male. "They kept lions as slaves and they wouldn't let rogues into the pride. Only pure firekin could breed." She looked down a the cub. "They worshiped some goddess." She shrugged before smiling slightly at the small cub. "The point is we have a great place to live, we are protected and we are strong." she looked down at the cub and smiled slightly.

"Do you know what it takes to be a firekin?" she asked the cub curiously, she wanted to know what he thought it was to be a firekin sure everyone had different oppions on what it was like to be a firekin, she wanted to know what the little cub thought.

((Sorry for the lag again. I've been having some problems getting on Gaia lately. I don't really know what it is, but things just tend to load at a snail's pace and sometimes not at all... xP))

Atesh nodded eagerly. "Tha's what my Da says. 'Kidondo is a great lion,' he says, and 'Always be grateful for what you have now, Atesh.'" There was not a shadow of a doubt in the young lion's mind that his father's words of wisdom were to be heeded, and that he would do well to remember them for as long as he lived, and though he was still young and had trouble imagining anything other than what he had had now, he did his best to follow his Azarax's wishes.

"How did they know what makes 'em pure though? Old-Firekins didn't lie, any of them? They coulda... just said they was all pure, but they really weren't." And he wondered, too, what it even meant to be pure, for the concept was so foreign to him that the words mean little, inexperienced in life as he was.

He nodded again in agreement with what Azar had said. Yes, that was the point - that they had the desert and that they were strong and safe. For Atesh, it seemed as though that was the way it would always be from now on. Kidondo must have realigned all of their lives for them for good, and they would none of them have to worry ever again until the end of time.

He looked up at the question, his large, bright eyes determined and assured and brimming with confidence both in himself and in the world. "Takes heart, is what." He replied almost without hesitation. "Also courage, devotion, skill - that's what I've heard," he added. "But you can't have any of that without heart."
