AIM Log -- Felyn & Krysin
Eros & Persephone

The longer Eros stayed in the lands, the better they got for him. Not only were they beautiful but they were plentiful in almost all accounts. That, and he had a pretty new flame to keep him occupied when he wasn't busy doing his duties - not that he really had many of those.

He was actually waiting for her, lounging comfortably under a large tree on the border of the jungle. Its branches stretched out over the sands, farther than any of those around it, and shielded him from the sun overhead. He'd rolled onto his back and exposed his belly to the heavens, making him quite the comical sight to behold.

At the moment he was simply laying there, eyes closed, with his arms tucked closely against his chest. He was humming to himself, some silly song with a happy beat that he was currently flipping his tail to. He was a whimsical character at times and without Persephone there to tell him what to do, he was content to lay about and do nothing.

She hadn't been in these lands long, but it was long enough for her to realize that she... didn't quite fit in. No, Persephone was the odd ball out in the pride, and the reason was smacking her right in the face. She wasn't crazy like the rest of the pride, not yet. Persephone didn't like it - but she couldn't force herself to be crazy. She could, on the other hand, do as the crazies did.

What was on her mind, though, was not a task she could handle on her own. She was looking for the lion that she had claimed for her own (and she supposed was claimed in turn), because Eros knew the pride better than her. He knew what would be a suitable choice for her to pick. He was, at the moment, her only option. She couldn't very well walk up to any other crazy and ask their assistance in this!

She found her lover lying underneath a tree, and impatiently she made her way over to him. Persephone was suddenly hovering over Eros, face inches above the lion's, her gaze determined. "Eros! You need to help me. I need to pick out a muse today." She was sure that it wasn't exactly how the Kizingo'zaa did it... but this was how Persephone did things. If Eros told her no, she'd just do it herself, but she'd prefer his aid. "Get up, let's go look around, and don't you dare pick out something suggestive." She actually wouldn't mind, but... ah, she had to draw a line somewhere, didn't she?

Eros had popped one eye open as soon as he heard his name spoken in that beautiful voice he had grown so accustomed to over the past few days. He opened the second and stared up at her silently as she spoke, tilting his head a little as he listened. He probably would have laid right there contentedly if she hadn't practically demanded that he get up.

With an amused smirk on his face he rolled over onto his belly, shaking a bit of the sand from his mane. "I don't think that's how it works, Sephie," he seemed amused with her, but it wasn't insulting. No, he seemed amused like a mother would be with an impatient child.

Regardless of whether or not he questioned her methods of finding a muse, however, her pushed himself to his feet and looked around him. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go on a hike or something though, maybe you'll find your muse in the jungle."

She pouted at Eros when he told her what she already suspected. Of course, things weren't exactly done the way she was planning to do it... but it was close to not matter! As long as she found a muse in the end, all would be well. Persephone would fit in with the pride even more, and perhaps that meant she could see a little more eye candy out of the area's boys. She had Eros, of course, and he was certainly the best, but that didn't mean she couldn't appreciate all the other handsome boys.

"It's going to have to work this way, because none of these things are talking to me. I don't know how the pride goes about holding conversations with rocks. They certainly don't choose to talk to me." With a frown, she backed away from Eros to give him room to stretch out and stand up. "Clearly rocks aren't my muse, then."

Rocks were too stupid to be her muse. It had to be something elegant, flawless! Not some gnarled old tree, but something radiating with youth and glamor. A flower? No! How stereotypical, if that was to be her choice. "Ah, thank you! Do you want to lead the way? The jungle and I haven't made friends yet." The Pridelands didn't have jungles - it was all beautiful open plains, dull, but at least nothing unexpected happened to her there.

Persephone would adjust, sooner or later. Right now it was just looking like it would be later... way later.

"Maybe you aren't being very friendly to them," he suggested with a wicked glimmer in his eyes, but it was all playful. He stretched his limbs out to rid them of the laziness that had settled during his sem-nap and stood up to his full height at her side. "I can't say that anything has said anything to me either, though, so maybe they're just shy?" The difference between the two of them was that Pesephone needed to fit in and be accepted and Eros was pretty content to just flow with life as it came.

Regardless, he turned and started into the jungle, heading right through the border next to the large tree he had found. "The jungle isn't so bad - it's just a bunch of trees really close together." Then again, Eros had grown up travelling, so he was used to nearly any terrain. The ocean had been new, but it was easy to grow accustomed to that as well.

He paused to make sure she wasn't falling behind, then resumed his pace, pushing down limbs and vines as they came up to obstruct her path - ever the gentleman. "You don't have the faintest inkling though? You have to have some idea, there's all kinds of things to choose from." He glanced around at the jungle around them just to make his point.

Persephone sent Eros another pointed glower, as if to say that she did not like his suggestion. Of course, she wasn't mad at him, Sephie could never be upset with her Eros. But, he didn't seem to understand that this was serious! If she didn't find a muse, she wouldn't really be a member of this pride. Having a muse was essential to fitting in, and Sephie did not want to be the social leper, the museless girl who no one wants to talk to. She was too pretty for suc ha cruel fate!

"Maybe the jungle is your muse, then, since you are such buddies with it." She was sure that he'd still prefer for his muse to be the sand, especially after their meeting... or at least she hoped he still viewed that choice favorably. As they began to walk through the dense jungle, she began her search for a muse in earnest. The vines? No. They were, quite frankly, making her frustrated right now. Vines and trees were out of the question.

"I want something pretty, youthful, and elegant. You know... something that describes me." The Kizingo'zaa hardly did things the way that Persephone was, she was sure they had some different magic trick hidden underneath the fur on their legs. "I was going to pick a flower, but that's too stereotypical, and I'm not stereotypical." She turned her gaze to Eros then, staring at him pointedly, waiting, waiting for him to say that she wasn't stereotypical. Really, a little more praise could do her no harm, right?

"No, no, I don't like the jungle that much," he mused, pointedly avoiding the point that he had previously made. He was almost positive that this was a fruitless search. It had been his understanding that the muse chose the lion and not the other way around, but who was he to tell Sephie otherwise? She was a hard girl to convince when she didn't think she was on the verge of a social disaster.

"No, no, you're right - those are much too stereotypical for a creature as unique as yourself," he cooed, pausing to look at her with affection that simply could not be faked. For all her pushiness, he was extremely patient. Even if he thought this was useless, he'd do it just to please her.

"So we need to find something unique and elegant, beautiful enough to suit you, right?" He gave her a soft flick of his tail before he began to walk again, meandering carefully through the underbrush. His mind was ticking away as he thought over the possibilities. "There are just so many choices, and nothing seems quite good enough. Seashells, butterflies, lightning bugs." He tilted his head and looked back down at her as if to ask for her opinion.

She was placated by his words, and even the expression upon his face as he spoke them. Sephie couldn't help but indulge herself. Stepping closer to Eros, she nuzzled her cheek into his mane briefly. He was just... so perfect! How did he know the right combination of things to do to make her feel special and loved? It had to be a talent he was born with, for she was sure that such skill could not be cultivated through years of practice.

"I don't want a muse that anyone else has. I know this will be difficult, but I don't want to go another day without having a muse to claim as my own." She sighed, pausing then to look around her and at all of the little things surrounding them. "If only I could have you as my muse, but lions aren't muses, I heard. Maybe in secret I'll call you my muse," she purred the words, quite happy with the thought.

Curiously she approached a tree, examining the wildlife around it. "Moss...? Ew, no. Not these mushrooms either. Grass is way too dull. What about a bush? Not an ordinary bush, but a bush that is always blossoming with hundreds of beautiful white flowers...!" Of course, something like that didn't exist, and she was dismayed by that. The gods should have made one for her, just so she would have an easy muse to pick now.

"How about a... bird! A pretty bird?"

He paused as she did, watching her with an amused smile. She was so strange to him at times, her nature unlike anyone in her family. That might have been part of the attraction - that fiery spirit was definitely not something he was used to. He supposed lions fell in love with the things that were exotic to them.

"Oh, if only you could," he chuckled from where he stood, watching her explore, "but then I would claim you and we would be a very exclusive pair, don't you think?" What would the pride think of that? What a scandal that would be.

"I don't think that exists, darling," he said soothingly, stepping up to butt his head gently against her cheek. His gaze drifted around, his mind wandering over all the things he'd ever seen, until her own broke through the silence once more. At once, he smiled, and leaned down to nuzzle her cheek. "You're absolutely brilliant, do you know that?" Of course he would take the time to stroke her ego a little.

"Maybe that's why you don't hear anything. I know there are some members who have other creatures as muses. That one white lioness, the Protector?" He made an odd face her, like the title was strange to his tongue. "She has a little Klipspringer. Maybe you don't hear anything because your muse isn't something boring that just sits around all day." He smirked, narrowing his eyes at the jungle as if he suspected mischief. "I bet your muse is wandering around somewhere waiting for you."

Sephie turned to him, a playful smile drawing across her features. "I would not take issue with being claimed in turn." She was a terrible flirt, but right now it was what kept things interesting. They passed words of affection, even words of temptation, and it kept everything fun and refreshing. Sephie was really coming to enjoy this relationship. Eros was certainly not like the other boys at home, and if anything, he made her not regret leaving the Pridelands. Sure, she missed her family and friends... but Eros was better.

Muuuuccch better.

"Well, I think it should exist," came the stubborn response, though she turned her head to receive the brief nuzzle, and return it in kind. "Because, right now, nothing else is on par with me. I could not claim any of these things to be my muse..." She paused then, and glanced up towards the sky, seeing the dashes of blue peeking through the high green branches. "Could I claim a god to be my muse?" Oh, she was aiming high!

"If my muse is something that can breathe and move... I wonder why it wouldn't come find me? Obviously I am looking for it, but I can't do this all on my own. My muse and I need to meet halfway." Really, she was tired from walking so much. Persephone paused and pointedly leaned into Eros' side, as if punctuating how exhausted she really was. Persephone was a delicate creature, and all this walking was going to turn the pads of her feet brown!

Eros laughed softly as she looked up to the sky, letting his gaze follow hers to see the bits of blue between the branches of the canopy high above them. "I don't think.. that they believe in gods like other places do. Besides, I haven't seen any here." He chuckled at the idea, however. If anyone could make a god into their muse, it was certainly Persephone.

As she leaned into his body, he indulged her and leaned down to brush his chin comfortingly against the top of her head. "Maybe your muse is busy being distracted by a charming lover too?" he smirked and nuzzled his face against the tuft of her hair, flicking his tail against her side playfully. "You shouldn't blame it, I hear lovers can be very demanding."

He pulled his head up and narrowed his eyes at the jungle. "Besides, I'm sure it'll find you eventually. Good things come to those that wait."

"How can they not believe in gods?" she wondered softly. Ah, the members of this pride were certainly strange. It was fortunate that the benefits of living here outweighed everything else. The pride was bountiful in practically everythig, from fresh water, food, good land, and even a plentiful supply of crazy. Persephone liked it here, and was sure she would like it even more when she found her muse.

She pouted, and though Eros couldn't see it, he probably knew the expression upon her face well by now. When things didn't seem to go the way she liked, she pouted, she whined, and she made sure that everyone knew that she was unhappy. "The only thing that I'll permit my muse keeping themself away from me is if they have a belly full of babies to take care of. That will be my only exception!" Surely, if her muse had found a lover, they would have brought their lover along with them!

"No lover is as demanding as you," she teased, tilting her head up to lick Eros under his chin. Ah, he was distracting her from the task at hand again! "I don't want to wait much longer - if I am made to, I swear I will pick a rock to be my muse just to have it said and done with."

He smirked, knowin all too well what her face looked like without having to see it. All he needed to hear was that tone in her voice, one he had grown terribly accustomed to. "You really want your muse coming to you with a belly full of babies?" He smirked and batted his tail against her side. "I bet a bunch of chirping baby birds or mewling kits would be really annoying, don't you?"

Oh, he was distracting her of course, but he was so good at it. She'd already stopped looking! "I'm not that demanding," he said with a little pout. His pouts weren't serious however, and even his playful grumpiness couldn't last in the face of the smile that came from her teases.

"Oh, no you wouldn't," he purred out, sitting down and nuzzling gently against her leg, "because rocks aren't very beautiful."

"No!" she replied with visible distaste. If her muse was out there, and had babies, she would want it to stay away. Sephie didn't want anything to do with babies, all they did was cry and want attention - and the only lioness she approved of demanding attention was herself. "You're right, it would be pretty annoying. Maybe I'm destined not to have a muse, then."

With a loud and dramatic sigh, she flopped down onto her back in front of him, feigning defeat. Really, she wouldn't move another step if this was a hopeless venture! Eros would have to drag her back to the beach by her tail, since she was clearly far too exhausted to walk. "I will give you that you aren't as demanding as me," she replied with a soft laugh.

Could anyone be as demanding as Persephone? Maybe - she just hadn't met someone like that yet.

"I'd find a pretty rock, and say that only that one is my muse. A stupid rock!" Ah, she was being dramatic again - but what was there to expect with Persephone, really?

"I don't think they let people stay that don't have a muse," he said softly, watching her from where they sat. Then, remembering something he'd been told, he corrected himself. "Actually, I just think they consider you a cub forever and ever."

After he said this, a smirk spread over his maw, and he leaned down to lick gently at her cheek where she was flopped before him. "And you certainly can't be a cub," he was practically purring it at her now as he relaxed into a laying position at her side, "because you are too beautiful to be a cub." And too.. very many other things.

"There's no rock pretty enough for you," he whispered, nuzzling against her cheek. He was pouring affection down on her - obviously, he was content to lay right where they were. Who said anything about walking back to the beach? "Your muse must be something grand and exotic, and it's probably just waiting for its grand entrance, just to make you look even more amazing. What kind of muse would yours be if it didn't?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:35 pm

She looked absolutely horrified at the news, though Eros was quick to change it to something less severe, she still thought it a horrific fate. To forever be thought of as a cub!? Persephone would not have it! She needed to find a muse, and she needed to find one quickly. No wonder the boys weren't hitting on her! They thought her nothing but a child still. Her museless-ness would have to be fixed, and soon.

She was, fortunately, soothed by Eros' devotion to complimenting her. The worried expression seeped out of her features, and instead she returned his lick, leaning up to fondly nuzzle their cheeks together. "Thank you - I am far more mature in mind and body." She was youthful, but not so youthful to be thought of as a cub!

"You must be right, though. My muse is clearly waiting for the right time. When my muse shows up, it will surely be the best, and everyone will be left in awe of me and my muse!" She rolled happily onto her side, and proceeded to snuggle up to Eros heartily. Her tail reached out to twine with the other lion's, loving every moment that they were close. "Thank you," she purred.

Eros playfulness faded, and in its place was left a sort of calm glow. It was that type of look only reserved for someone that was cherished and adored - a look he had probably only reserved for one other before this.

"You're welcome," he said gently, softly, letting her body lean into his. He was calm as her tail entwined his, and he shifted to lay his head across the stretched of her shoulders, reclining slowly so he could lay next to her.

There was nothing he wouldn't say if it would make her feel better. "It will come, and I will be there to see all your glory when it does." He whispered this as he shut his eyes, comforted by the simple sound of her heartbeat in his ear. Did life get better than this?
