Talking to Nyoni hadn't helped too much. Or at least that's what Mundoo had thought at first; now that it was night again and he was padding through the jungle in search of his mate... he was second-guessing himself and what he thought he'd known before. That's stupid raven hadn't been very pleasent either, and the white lion pretty much believe he might hate his former crush' muse of choice.
Stupid, bloody scavenger of a bird.
He had no idea what on earth had possessed Nyoni, whom he could not deny being beautiful and elegant, even now, to take the Raven as her muse of choice. The whisper came from the sky, as if in direct response to his thoughts.
"You don't chose your muse; your muse chooses you, remember that."
He spared the haunting moon just a glance before continuing through the trees, his eyes seeking out the green form of his mate; he felt it was time to try tackling problem number two, now that he'd had a talk with problem number one. Despite his resolution though, he was feeling unsure of himself and of what he was trying to do because he had no way to predict it's outcome.
The ghastly lion found he didn't appreciate that much.

The only talking Aviva had done since she parted ways with her mate had been to her muse. She had hidden herself away in the jungle and not come out, leaving her family and everyone to wonder how long she'd remain a prisoner of choice. It was just.. better that way.
She had found an old, large tree whose trunk was split in two, forming a small cave of sorts. She'd curled up in the tight space, listening to the old feeble voice that radiated around her, taking comfort as her muse whispered soothing things in her ear. All around her the trees spoke, all of them giving advice or any number of other things. It was like being surrounded by older relatives, all of whom had a different idea of handling the situation - but at least she could feel their love, even amongst the slight bickering.
In the distance, she could hear the sounds of someone approaching, and her muse began to sing out sounds of warning to her. Like usual, they were too preoccupied to actually tell her who it was, so she simply curled tighter into her tree-cave (which didn't conceal head or shoulders, just the majority of her body) and waited for whoever it was to show themselves or pass by.

Mundoo was oblivious to the trees' voices, which only Aviva could hear, and thus had no way to know he was approaching his intended target. The moon was blocked by the tree tops and all she could do was hum softly at him, as if to remind him he was there; always there. Apparently, the aster knew when it was a good idea to keep silent and leave him be (a feat he had not thought possible before that day).
Needless to say, when he entered the small gap in vegetation and saw the fallen log, the last thing he had been expecting to find, was his mate lodged inside like that. He paused mid-step and looked uncertain for a fleeting moment, but then threw caution to the wind and approached slowly, as if to not spook her, "Aviva," he said carefully after he sat down a small distance away from her.
Unfortunately for both of them, Mundoo had never been the most social of lions and was now lost, entirely as how to continue the conversation. He sat there, fully aware that his relationship with her was hanging on a line and depended one what they both said and did that very night. Yet he had no idea what would save it.

Aviva had seen him coming through the trees in her direction, and simply watched and waited for him. It was clear the moment he saw her and part of her felt excitement course through her veins. The other part felt dread for what she knew was going to be a long, serious talk. Something between them had changed and made everything awkward and strange.
"Mundoo," she said quietly, lifting her head the best she could from where the small cave-like structure restricted her. She would have gotten up and moved to sit by him, but.. she felt like she needed the support of her muse in this.
"We need to have a talk," she spoke as if she knew something that he didn't, but surely Mundoo was already aware that they needed to have a talk? She looked serious enough, however, and all signs of her tears had dried and disappeared. She had had a long time to think.

Unlike Aviva, Mundoo wasn't feeling horribly excited for what was in store for him. He knew that there was going to be a very long, very serious conversation up ahead, and he'd never been that good with words and expressing his feelings (as Nyoni had pointed out previously that day).
That aside, he'd already spent the day talking to the brown lioness and her stupid, horrible bird, which meant he was pretty much talked out. Still, this was important, and the white lion hooded his gaze and padded forward again so he was nearer, taking a comfortable laying position on the ground beside her. As she spoke, he couldn't help but arch a brow at her; he'd known they had to talk. He'd known that from the moment he'd walked away from her. He'd known he'd have to go back after a good long time of thinking and he'd have to talk to her.
There was no escaping that, "I know," he told him, almost in a monotone, his voice sounding tired. However, despite that, he didn't sound like he was mocking her for stating the obvious; quite the contrary, actually. He seemed gratefully she had initiated the talk without him having to do so, "I spoke with Nyoni earlier today. And her crow. Her muse is the crow," he spoke like it surprised him, as if he thought it didn't fit her, but regardless, he thought Aviva should know, "Nasty animal."

Aviva watched him approach, thankful that her body didn't tense even though she felt the urge to do so rising in her. Why was she so nervous? This was just Mundoo, the mate she had shared every moment of her life with for the last two or three years. What had changed? Everything and nothing all at once, it seemed.
"I don't care about her muse," she said, her voice tired and her eyes shutting momentarily. It was only natural that he try to break the ice by saying something about Nyoni, she supposed, but she really, really didn't want to talk about her at the moment.
"That's not what I need to talk to you about," she muttered, staring down at her paws as if they suddenly held all the answers in the world. "It's.. I guess it's important, and we'll have to eventually, but right now that's not what I'm concerned about." She sighed as she said that, trying to find the courage to just come out and say it, but it was just so much harder after all of this.
"Mundo, I.. we.." she paused, swallowing around a lump in her throat, "we're having more cubs." It was half muttered and jumbled, mostly because she knew that cubs at a rocky point in time weren't always a good thing.

He wasn't really taken back by her reply; it wasn't a snap after all. Not really, but he hoped she understood he couldn't just... barge into a conversation head-first. He'd used it as an ice breaker, and besides, he was pretty damned sure that they were going to have to talk about Nyoni, like it or not, and a good way to ease into the topic had been her muse.
Thus, when Aviva pointed out that Nyoni, was in fact NOT what she needed to talk to him about, Mundoo was thoroughly confused. His face showed the fact plainly as he watched her through haunting, ghastly eyes. He'd been about ready to question what could possibly be more important than talking about the cause of their previous fight and the reason WHY he'd needed a small 'time out', but her words froze him in place.
His muscles tensed and the lion remain silent for a long while, trying to evaluate how he felt about it all. He was glad, in a way, really. He couldn't help but be happy, proud even, that he was having another batch of cubs.
At the same time he wasn't all sure this was the best time or moment for cubs, "How long?" he asked, his voice unreadable.

Part of her was pained by the unreadable tone of his voice, wondering inside if that was a bad sign. Then she tried to remind herself of all the mixed feelings she too had over the idea of bringing cubs into this world right now. What kind of environment would they be raising them in if they couldn't sort this out?
She sighed, shutting her eyes, and tried to wash away the worries and clear her head. They needed to talk about this and letting herself get worked up into a tizzy was not a good way to go about that - she couldn't shut herself down in her mind right now.
"I don't know for sure," she muttered, opening her eyes. She looked suddenly weary, suddenly her age for the first time. "I'm not showing yet, so that must mean it's not too far along. Then again, these things can always be so tricky.." She trailed off of her ramble then, staring up at a hanging treelimb above their heads, as if she were asking it for guidance in her silence.
"I should probably go speak with Misae about it."
