Oh it was good to rest ones paws! The pads of his feet had certainly toughened out over the last couple of weeks they had been away. He had lost a bit of weight, too! And, though the journey had been good and a necessary thing, he was exceptionally glad to be home again after all that time.
Yawning, he lifted his head so that he lay in 'sphinx' position and cast his eyes across the landscape he could see from the den's entrance.
Yes. He had missed this place greatly.

Mawi was pretty tired herself, she wasn't used to traveling that much. The last time she moved that much was when she was younger and she went on her drum quest. But even then she didn't travel as much. But this time, she went a long way. But that didn't stop her from wandering around like she liked to do! For one of the first days back in the pride she greeted everyone with her mate then waited for him to fall asleep before she wandered back out to check on the drums in the drum circle and just basically every thing she hadn't done in a long time. She missed her home so much. It seemed like Kitambi did a great job even though she wasnt' around. She was glad she got along with the lioness well enough to have permission to wander around for as long as she did.
She moved toward her den looking around and noticing her mate sitting up there. She grinned before trotting faster to him. "Hey love!" she grinned and nipped at him a few times. "You feeling better?" She asked as she flopped down next to him.

"A little." He replied, feeling better to have her close to him. He laughed at her playful antics and nuzzled into her as she lay down next to him, rolling onto his side so that he could rest his head on her shoulder.
"It's good to be back, isn't it, love?" He yawned again, twitching his tail lazily. "The world is a beautiful place, but there's certainly no place like home."
He lifted his eyes to try and spy her. "And the kids missed us too, I think, even if they are grown up!"

Mawi glanced at her mate then chuckled nipping at his ear again as he leaned on her shoulder. "I'm glad you're feeling better." She nodded happily, she stared out the den a smile on her face. She was happy to be home. She glanced at him and smiled. "It does feel good to be back, it was fun however I'm very glad to be home. It's nice." She looked down at ehr paw and chuckled slightly "I have to work on making a new shaker. I'm thinking about taking the grandchildren out and showing them how to make them." She smiled at the idea.
"Grandchildren."She gave a light hearted laugh. "Maybe we are old." Could they really be that old when they were thinking about having a second litter. Couldn't be, when she got back she found out her mom had cubs recently. and her mom was now a great grandma. She laughed at the idea before looking at her mate and nuzzling him again.

"Me too." He agreed contentedly, nuzzling close. "I'm sure the grandchildren would love to learn. You know what children are like, so eager to learn new things. It'll be good to share music with them, too."
He laughed at her, good naturedly. "Oh Mawi Mai! Grandchildren or not, we'll never be old. Love will keep us young, yes? I never feel old when I know I have you at my side and when there is music in my heart."
His eyes sparkled. "Besides, we were planning on having another litter, right?" He tipped his head a little. "Little ones will keep us on our toes!"

Mawi Mai giggled before leaning into her mate then looking over and nibbling at him. "It's pretty great how we leave and we come back and our children not only have manes all of them are fully grown!" She laughed playfully before leaning back and nipping at her mate and then stretched her paws out and giggled "We also have grandcubs!" She smirked before rolling over on her back so she could look at him from when she was laying. "This is all pretty exciting though."
She purred before a smile grew on her face, he made everything feel a lot more interesting made everything feel pretty awesome and made her feel amazing at all times that she was with him. "It will." She said before she looked up at him. "I promise." a smile grew on her lips wide she was glad to know that he thought the same thing.
"Thats right!" She giggled almost forgetting their idea, she placed her paws on her stomach and then grinned at him from where she was laying. "I'm thinking something is brewing." She giggled slightly before nodding toward him. "Thats going to be really intersting! Our children and our grandchildren get to play with eachother on top of that!" The idea amused her.

"Life goes by so quickly. My childhood seems to have been over in the blink of an eye. And even now, whilst I grow no more, we can see how the time still flies by in how our children have grown. It's a scary thing, mortality." He paused, pondering again on his mother, now gone but yet...not gone.
"And yet, I don't feel a day older than that moment I first met you, love. If I can feel this way for the rest of my life than I shall die a very happy lion indeed."
He touched his nose against hers.
"Our own children and grandchildren..." He whispered. "We have quite a family, don't we, love? I couldn't be more proud."

The tan lioness nodded at her mate before purring quietly, it was really true, she felt like not that long ago she was little running around with her sister with out a care in the world, then it was only her sister, her mother and herself but now she had a bunch of siblings and a mate and children even then she was so proud of her children, she was happy to watch everyone grow and as she thought of all of this a smile grew even wider on her lips. "I am so proud." She laughed before chuckling quietly.
She nodded at him the purr growing louder as he touched his nose with hers. She pawed at him gently before rolling over and nuzzling him. "I feel younger." she winked playfully, she was glad that her mate was in fact just as playful could be. She laughed a little bit then gently started to clean his made.
"We have a wonderful family I've never been prouder." She laughed a little bit before turning back toward the male and grinning. "Which reminds me! i have some new little siblings more for them to play with!" She looked around and she could feel excited. "I have a little work though I have to clean the den some to get ready for when ever they are coming." She giggled before glancing back toward him once more. "There are so many cubs around it's going to be perfect time to have cubs. Oh Aapep!" She looked back at him and licked his maw. "I'm so excited."

He laughed, pushing his paws gently against her. "More siblings? There sure are going to be a lot of cubs around! The pride is booming. It's a wonderful thing to see." He rolled over onto his side, purring and moving to press his head up under her chin.
"Me too! Being a parent...it's scary but...but there's nothing quite like it. Seeing them grow and develop and shape their own lives, helping them along the way. There's no greater thing to experience than that."
He purred gently. "But yes, you're right. There's lots to do before they arrive. Preparations to make. I can help you tidy things up, if you like. Don't want you overworking!"

Mawi giggled and nodded at her mate with a large smile. "It's a small litter, so I've heard, I haven't been able to check in and see them myself but I probably will a little later on, I heard they weren't born that long ago, my mom still needs her rest." She chuckled a tiny bit before smiling softly at the idea of all the cubs running around, she she was younger she hated the idea of new siblings but now that she was older she appreciated them she loved her siblings.
"It's scary but it is rewarding." She looked at him and nodded a few times, it was very scary at times she was glad that she had Kirjava at first, but she had to admit now that she wasn't around she was a little afraid she loved her mother but there was something about Kirjava's age and wisdom that made Mawi feel very comfortable around her it made a lot easy.
"I'll be alright! some help would be nice." She laughed slightly before grinning at the male. "But it should be easy it's most of the cleaning is the things that we missed from the time we were away."

"Very rewarding." He purred. He would never understand what it was like to carry and birth cubs, but he knew how worried and concerned he had been the last time. He felt more comfortable this time round, knowing what sort of thing to expect, but he, too, would miss the support Kirjava had given him the first time around.
"Well, nothing like the present, my love? Shall we do some tidying now whilst we're in good spirits?" He licked her cheek.
"Or, maybe you'd like to supervise whilst I do the work?" He chuckled. "Especially if there's not too much to do."

Mawi Mai chuckled slightly before nudging him gently leaning over to his ear and whispering quietly "thank you for picking me." She said quietly then purred to follow it. "I'm more then happy to spend the rest of my long life with you watching our children grow together and just being happy in general.
"Why not!" She laughed slightly before looking around. "Supervising would be nice." She said teasing him lightly before looking around. "Unless you want to go and grab some bedding for the den while I straighten up some." She leaned over and licked his maw. "And when you come back we can lay it out and have a nap for a little bit." she smiled up at him then nodded again "how does that sound?"

"This is all I could ever want, my love. All I ever need is right here." He smiled. "What are we like, eh? A couple of love-birds! What would our children think to see us like this? I reckon we'd embarrass them."
He kissed her again and stood, shaking the dust from his pelt. "That sounds like team work to me, dearest." He replied. "And a great idea at that. We'll be finished twice as quickly, then. Just promise me you won't stress yourself out too much? If you get tired before I'm back, just rest until I get back, okay?"
He leaned forwards to press his forehead to hers. "Will miss you while I'm gone."

She smiled before nudging him gently. "You're more then I'd ever want." She giggled slightly, even she thought she would never be like this a long time ago she pictured herself like her mom, just wandering around and having cubs with the first lion who wanted to have cubs with her, but she met Aapep, it all changed after that she was so happy to have him. She giggled at his next comment before nodding toward him and giggling again. "They probably are very embarrassed of us." She stuck her tongue out playfullly.
"Team work at it's best." She winked at him before the licking his maw and smirking. "I won't stress myself out, that why you're walking and I'm not." She winked and then nudged him. "I'll relax." She chuckled slightly at the idea, as long as she wasn't walking around anymore she would be alright her paws were finally catching up with her. "I'm going to take a day off tomorrow and spend it just with you." She giggled again and then licked the bridge of his nose. "I miss you too my love." She purred.

"Then, until we meet again, my love." He dipped his head into a chivalrous bow, and, with a sparkle of amusement in his eyes, turned and padded off. His pace was quick and hurried - clear that he wanted to get back as soon as possible - but he could not help but cast a look back over his shoulder.
She was beautiful.
She would always be beautiful.
Sometimes, it scared him just how much he loved her.
And then he moved on - hurrying again to find the bedding he would need to collect before he'd be able to return to her side.
