Aziz'Din paced outside of his families den, frowning lightly. His sister had been asleep for ages now. Why wasn't she awake yet? Huffing, he peered into the den. A few of their sibblings were scattered around the den, napping most likely or just lying quietly.Aziz'Din couldn't do that. That was wasting time. Time that could be better spent out practising, and Shahla had promised to help him practice. Padding into the den, he stepped over his sibblings carefully until he made it over to his younger sister. Staring down at her from beside her, he waited for her to wake. When she didn't wake on whim, he lent down and nudged her. “Shahla? Wake up!” He didn't say it meanly or loudly, barely above a whisper so he wouldn't wake up all their sibblings.
--
Her body has taken more abuse than Shahla had originally thought, causing the young cub to pass out, with little to nothing being able to wake her. She had laid there for most of the day, sleeping away the fatigue of her and her brother’s conversation in the blaring heat of the sun. No dreams came to her, no sounds, nothing. Blackness was her gift for staying in the sun too long. There was no reaction when her brother stood beside her, she couldn’t feel his presence. Dead to the world she was. When he decided to nudge her however the female grumbled, but continued to sleep. It was going to take more than a light nudge and a whisper to wake her from the dark.
---
Aziz'Din waited patiently, or impatiently, for his sister to wake up, sure she would obey him even in her sleep. When she continued to snooze peacefully, he frowned. Was she that tired, or was she directly disobeying him? No. Shahla was a good Banu. She wouldn't do that. He lent down and nudged her again, this time harder. He didn't really want to hurt her, but his gentle, kind nudge earlier had done nothing to wake her. “Shahla! Wake up!” He snapped, still quietly. He didn't want to get in trouble for waking everyone else up. “Now!” He added, as if she just needed extra encouragement to listen to him.
----
The little banu shifted before her eyes slowly cracked open, she had felt something nudge her in her sleep, pulling her out of the darkness that had swept her away. Squinting up at the blurry image she took in its smell, it was her brother… Aziz’din! Shaking her head quickly to wake herself up and make her mind work faster she stared up at him. How long has she been asleep, how long…. Had she kept him waiting for her.
“I am sorry brother Aziz. I didn’t mean to be asleep for so long. I just.. blacked out.” She looked at him with nervous eyes, hoping she hadn’t upset him with being asleep for most of the day like that. “Please forgive me.” Her head bowed to him, offering her apologies.
--
Aziz'Din felt pleased when she finally woke up. It was frustrating having to try and get her awake when, in his mind, she should have been awake and ready long ago and be ready to follow him. However, with her looking so nervous and sleepy, he couldn't really stay mad. Flopping down onto his rump beside her, he stared at her skeptically. “Were you really that tired, Shahla?” He nudged her gently, accepting her applogy after a few moments of silence, just to stretch the point that she should have been awake and ready. He wans't really that mad at her though. “Do you still want to practice?” If she was that exhaused, then perhaps she shouldn't even bother.
---
Her ears perked up at the question of practice. Of course she wanted to practice; she had been looking forward to it before she passed out like that. And, she promised him as well, and that was the most important thing to her. She promised to help him get better, help him be the best he could be. To her, that was worth pushing away her sleepiness. Smiling at Aziz she picked herself up. “I am more than ready for this. I am sorry I wasn’t up earlier. It will be worth it though!” Eyes glittered as she waited for her brother to get up, she was now fully away, the adrenaline pumping through her body, allowing her to become more and more excited.
“RACE YA!” She called lightly, darting towards the den entrance, hoping it would rile up her brother as well. Get him as excited as she was for their training. They would be the strongest of their fathers children. She would make sure of that.
---
Aziz'Din was glad when she seemed as eager as he was. He wanted to get better and his sister was a great way of bouncing ideas off of and improving both of them. He got to his feet after she did, cleaning off his furr from the dust in the den. What he didn't except was for her to bolt off. “That's so immature!” He called after her, a frown on his face as he padded after her. He stayed slow moving until they were out of the den, before he broke into a run. “but I'm still going to win!” He yelled, laughing as he raced after her. He wasn't particuarly fast yet, but he would be. Maybe Shahla would like to race him daily? They would both become stronger then. He grinned as he gained up with her.
--
“Hah, cleaning your fur instead of watching your surroundings. Points off of your grade!” She teased, rushing towards the branch she had seen earlier that day. It was going to be throwing practice time, and jumping along with it. Then maybe… a race. Around the lake. Yes, that would most definitely be a good thing to do after everything else. They had to be fast as well as strong to make it out there… and with her brother having to leave the safety of the pride… she most definitely would have to train with him. Make him strong, make him fast. She didn’t want to see him get hurt out there.
“Oh man. You weenie. I will beat ya to that tree bark you will see!” She pushed her body to move faster, prove that she was in fact faster than her brother. It would make him work harder, and she wanted that. Never give in and never give up.
--
“I was lulling you into a false sense of security!” He bellowed after her. He wasn't sure exactly where they were going but he was going to get there quicker, that was for sure. He couldn't loose to her. Males were meant to be strong, faster, quicker. Then again, females had to actually hunt...STILL, Aziz'Din was going to beat her. Leaning low to the ground, he laughed.
“No way! I'll get there way before you!” His paws thudded on the ground in a steady ryhthm as he approached his sister quickly. He was still a fair bit before her, but he was assured he'd get there. So focused on getting to her, he didn't spot the twig in front of him. His paw hooked under the twig, his other paw coming down on top of it. Result? A faceplant into the ground. “OOMPH!”
------
Shahla skidded to a halt next to their destination, excited she had won, and then turned around to see her brothers face buried in the dirt. What a dork he was, he needed to practice more so he wouldn’t eat dirt every time they raced each other. “I didn’t know brother Aziz liked the taste of dirt after a small run” teasing him was fun, it got him riled up and made him think about his actions. Of course, none of it was meant to be rude. Just an eye opener.
“You alright brother Aziz?” She padded towards him and his fallen figure. It was hard not to laugh but she was concerned as well. What if he really did hurt himself running? He might not ever want to do it again. How would he ever get better if that was the case? “We should race each other more often. We will both get better at it, ya’know?” She stood next to him, nudging him lightly
---
Aziz'Din flushed beneath his pale fur, glad that his pelt covered it up. He scrambled back to his feat as his sister approached, scowling heavily at the stick which had caused him to trip, but a frustrated look at his sister for her earlier comment. He didn't look angry at her, just slightly embaressed and annoyed. She hadn't been the cause of it, afterall, there was no reason to be mad. “M'fine, Shahla,” he said, shifting where he stood. He hadn't hurt himself, though his paw throbbed a little where the stick had dug into it.
He tilted his head to the side, his irritation fading at her words. He was proud of her for her attitude, she was going to be a strong adult when she was older, he decided, if she kept up her attitude. “That sounds good,” he said, agreeing with her idea. “We'll race before we practice.” If they ran before he taught her to be a banu and he practiced being a pad, then they were going to be good runners in the end, as well as proper adults. He smiled at her, eyes warm. “C'mon, let's go,” he said, nudging her lightly to encourage her to follow as he set off again, at a slower pace this time.
Shahla couldn’t help but smile at her brother’s scowl. He was learning not to blame things always on everything around him and actually take the blame for his actions. It would be a good thing in the long run, although she could still tell he was more than a little annoyed with the branch that sent him tumbling to the ground. Cocking her head at him she nodded. It was good that he wasn’t hurt; it wouldn’t be any fun to train with him otherwise. Maybe this would even teach him a lesson on keeping an eye on not only the prize, but the environment he is in.
“Ya’know. This is a good lesson for you and me. It will remind us both to take in our environment and not just the place we want to go.” Yup, this was already looking to be a very good day for them both. Mirroring the movements of her brother she wondered what he was thinking about. It seemed he only ever cocked his head when he was deep in thought. Or, she always seemed to believe he was deep in thought. Ears perked suddenly as her brother spoke again, a grin shining brightly on her maw. They would one day become great lions, each being of great value to the pride, but it would take lots of practice before that would happen. Picking herself up, Shahla quickly took after him, following him towards their destination. What would they do now? It was up to him for sure, but whatever it was it would be fun. “Today is going to be a great day.”

Aziz'Din peered at her from the corner of his eye as they walked. He hated looking like a fool and that damn branch had made him look stupid, but she was right.
“When did you get so smart?” He teased her, swatting her playfully and without intending to hurt her at all. He smiled warmly at her, knowing that they were alone so that he could be honest with her. “Of course today will be a great day, any day can be great if you put in a little effort.” He tilted his chin up and sent another quick smile her way. He paused for a moment, and nudged her towards the lake area. It was a safe area to practice, since not many pride members would be there at that time of the day.
