Would anyone with a wind serpent be wanting to start a herd with me? Looking for ideas and opinions. This is just the planning stage. If enough soq are interested then a herd will be made in the appropriate thread. Thanks.

Is it private or open?
Where should they be located?
1-Valley
2-Forest
3-Mountains
4-Cliffs

What type of herd is it?
1-Open to all
2-Open to flying types only
3-Wind serpents only! I think all the wind serpents are female so consider this option carefully. XD

What types of classes?
Alpha-
Protector(s)-
Hunters- ?
Sentries- ?

What type of social structure?

More as I think of it or someone suggests it.

The herd has been made and is located here. We only have 2 members and are looking for more! I'd like to see more wind serpents, kalona, and kalona halfbreeds. Also, any flying soquili who can tolerate kalonas will be accepted.
Note: The permanent Alpha roll is still Open.

I think all those ideas are great. This herd thing is very nice too.I think i might join this ;D With Viper *points to siggy*

I think it should be an all open herd.

Viper loves it in the Mountains,so maybe they should be there, but the forest sounds nice too.
For the Classes,i think there should be different ranks.
But those are just my thoughts. :'D

Oooh, that'd be an impressive looking herd X-D Thosi (in sig) is a smidge on the arrogant side, so she might get voted out of the herd, but I'd be interested in joining something like that.

It should probably start as private with them being very selective on who joins... One bad seed can totally throw off the group dynamic.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 01, 2010 5:55 pm

I doubt they'd vote someone out. biggrin Would Thosi be looking for a permanent placement? Cause I do have a plot and I'll need a serpent that's not so.... righteous?

*nods* I do plan on being selective even if it is open. Thanks for posting! heart

I'd be more than happy to try Thosi out X-D She's not exactly righteous, but there's something you should know about her before you introduce her to anyone. Thosi Pandryl is right. Always. Even when she's wrong.... she's right. If you can remember that, she'll get along with anyone X-D

As for permanent placement... I may have somewhere to put her, but it's a bit....er.... uncertain at the moment. I'm open to suggestions ^_^

Lol, I can totally see Thosi and Zo butting heads. If Zo thinks she's right she can get stubborn. XD

Ah nah. Looking for one that will join but it won't be a permanent herd member. For a herd plot. If you still want to consider it I'll pm you the details. But as you describe her I'm actually thinking I'd like to have her in the herd.

I'm definitely interested X-D

Hi. I didn't get one of those type of soqs from the event, so I couldn't join it. However, reading over it a little bit. I mean.. if i did own one, and I was considering to join it to a group. I'd probably not do it if it was open to anything but the wind serpents; but my reasons relate to their cosplay. I'd be basing my reason off of how they fit in game.

If you are forming a clan thats based on them being a kalona.. rather than just a wind serpent.. that has potential.

Wind serpents were crossbreeds of kalona and kirin. This could open way to joiners who can just fly?

I think it might be fair game to also note.. within soquili lore itself. Kalona and other winged breeds might not always get along. It could be dangerous for them to co habit. Just little things to keep in mind when forming your flock/herd. If you want any of these points to be factored into the formation of it.

Thanks for posting Grace. I'll definitely consider those. I am generally going off Sabin's definition of them and that their not evil, but do eat meat.

*Tilts head* I had thoughts of making it a wind serpent herd only..... but I think all of them are females. XD What to do about studs?

The base of the herd should be made of wind serpents, so if a soq has issues with kalonas then they probly wont apply. I would think.

Thanks for the input. *Must go ponder the different points presented.*

I'll admit, I'm not as familiar with WoW as I'd like to be, but taking what Graceangel pointed out, I took a closer look at the Soquili guidelines for both the Kalona and Kirins. They're... pretty much exact opposites. While the Kalona are pretty much nasty and as a general rule evil, Kirins seem to be pure and good. They don't like blood and are more protective than aggressive.

With this in mind, I think that, as a whole, the wind serpants would probably be more of a middle ground between the extremes with the potential to drift a little more toward Kalona. This could mean that they wouldn't get along well with others, or that they are capable of compromise...

Maybe....

Anywho, that's how I'm handling the hybrid status X-D And just trying to give you a bit more of an outlook.

I'm gonna say right now that I have 0 knowledge of wow. I think how well each serpent deals with being a hybrid is entirely up to that soq. On an over all general rule, they don't sound like they'd be mean on purpose, but maybe if you push the wrong buttons.

That being said they may very well not get along with other winged types. So I have to consider a very important point: Mates. All the serpents I've seen have been female. In order for it to really be a herd young will have to be born(at some point anyhow.) So which path do they take?
1- Wind serpents only? No males allowed in the herd. When they wish to breed they go out, find a suitable male then use him and loose him. (How are male offspring handled?)
2- Only males that are mated to a serpent may enter the herd.
3- Any males may enter if they get along with the majority of the herd.

XD Such a problem. Any bit of insight is a huge help. smile That's going to be a huge deciding factor in how the herd works.

Well, they could possibly seek out other kalonas nad kirins. They could bring them in with hopes of reinforcing their bloodlines. Like, it could be a herd effort to protect the genetic mutations. and any other soqs out there who are mixes of kalona/kirin either thru customs or breeding.. could become major targets of interest to the wind serpents.

Now, this is just Thosi... but she doesn't do well with rules and labels. I can't see her only targeting Kirins and Kalonas because that's what she is.

Maybe, because they're a mostly female race, they should take a sort of amazonian take on the herd? The only males allowed in are those born to the herd and those that a member of the herd vouches for. I guess that would mean that, when one of the wind serpents is ready to start a family, she could break away from the herd, find a mate, and either use him and lose him, or, if she develops any sort of fondness for him, bring him back to the herd.

Of course, that presents the problem of whether or not he'd even WANT to join the herd, or if he'd ask her to join his herd or just stay with him.... Lots of fun problems that could crop up and make things interesting.

Again, that's just my opinion/thought. Feel free to discard as you choose X-D
