The young cub had put on her game face and was racing up and down the entrance of the den. It was early yet, and her siblings were still tuckered out from the day before. Still, Nyimek was often an early riser and didn't like to be still. She was restless and spirited despite her small size, so while her siblings slept, she continued to scurry up and down, up and down, trying to run as fast as her paws would carry her.

She wanted to zip outside in to all the gold stuff . . . what was it called again? Sand. But while bold in spirit, she didn't want to get in trouble either, and wasn't quite ready to rebel against her parents. They were still bigger than she and tough! But someday. . . someday she too would be big and strong and she'd show them all!

Her name might mean little flame, but she wouldn't be little forever.

It was in part what drove her to keep running. Her chest was heaving and her legs hurt bu she wasn't going to stop. She would be strong and she would make her family proud. She'd also make sure she forced herself to grow so then she could be stronger than her brothers, wouldn't that be neat!? Nyimek thought so, and so she continued in her laps. . . .

A driven little cub, for being so young. But she was proud and wouldn't stop for anything. Well . . .at least until Mother or Father awoke.

Kakek Api was really more of a night time bug then a morning bug. But right now he was awake. Why? Because there was something odd in the den. He lifted his small head his golden eyes glowed in the dark of the den. He looked around seeing the large masses of his parents not that far away from his siblings, the smaller masses in the den. He grunted slightly as he stood up, stretching his paws. Something was where it was supposed to be. A mischievous smile grew on his maw. There was a chance he could get some one else in trouble. Or for that matter what sounded better was that he could get into some trouble himself which sounded pretty exciting to him. He always loved the idea of being able to cause a little trouble.

He carefully started to wander his way out of the den. That is until he noticed what was different as the shape of a body rushed past him.. "What are you doing?" He hissed loud enough for his sister to hear him. The large cub started to wander a little more toward her before sitting back on his haunches, he sat more of toward the front of the den. "You're being stupid." He huffed in a whisper before looking out of the den with a smirk on his face. He started to move out of it a little more. "Everyone is sleeping and will be for a little while younger now." He snorted then shook his head before trotting out of the den a little more. "And if you stay by the den you can't get into that much trouble."

He snorted as he looked at her and then puffed his chest out as he wiggled his toes in the sand. He snorted again before sticking his tongue out. "You're too much of a momma's girl to come out." He laughed before he started to trot around the side of the den. He was kind of liking this getting up a little earlier thing. He had the chance to start some morning havoc. He was loving that he was going to be able to cause some trouble with his sister.

What. . . WHAT DID HE JUST SAY!?

For the most part, Nyimek had decided that her brother wasn't worth stopping her training for. He was just . . .well. . . her brother and because he was her brother, it only spurned her on to continue running. She'd out race him too someday, and maybe even out fight as well!

No. Not maybe.

She would do it!

So even while he approached the mouth of the den, even while he called her stupid, Nyimek did her best to ignore him. Hmph. He was the stupid one between the pair of them, if only because . . . well. . . . well just because. Nyimek didn't really need a good reason, did she?

Hardly.

But something in her brothers tone did cause the fire in her to flare and burn. So what if she was a Momma's girl . . .she happened to love her mother, thank you, and had even inherited her wings. Her mother was tough, a fighter, why shouldn't she want to be like her?

But it was the fact that he had dared her to leave the den. The fact that he must have thought she wasn't bold enough and presumed she wouldn't follow. No. That would not be tolerated. She'd show him who was brave, who was bold, and who would tougher than him!

"What did you say!?" She half-screamed, half-hissed. She didn't care if she woke up others in the den. Growling, Nyimek forgot about her 'boundaries' and burst through the entrance of the den. Taking a flying leap, she tried to tackle her brother, hoping she'd show him that she was very much outside of the den.

Kakek snorted as he looked at his sister. He couldn't help it. She might have inherited her mother's wings but hey he got his name from his grandpa. 'Grandfather's fire' was what his name meant and he was proud of it, he was going to grow up to be just like Grandpa Kidondo and he was sure of it! And plus he had his father's markings too! Beside he was one of the biggest in the litter, he had a lot to be proud of.

He stuck his tongue out at his sister again before laughing slightly as he saw his sister started to run his way. But at her half scream his hair bristled and he started to get annoyed. He snarled quietly as his sister pounced on him. He huffed and swatted at her face before flipping her over so he was on the top. "You must REALLY be stupid." He hissed to her shaking his head. "You know you're going to wake mom and dad up." He huffed at her then rolled his eyes pushing himself away and sitting not that far away from her wrapping his tail around his feet.

"They won't get amd if we are a little bit away from the den but you know when you wake up mama she's gonna be mad." He remembered last time him and his brother went to do something and woke up their mom and she wasn't the prettiest when she woke up. "Beside it's not my fault you're a big stupid wimp who doesn't want to leave the den." He stuck his tongue out again before looking around. "We should have some fun." He encouraged noddnig slightly at the idea.

Oooooh! Her brother was going to get it now! Nyimek did her best to bite and swat at Kakek but unfortunately she was still too inexperienced and he practically towered over her. While he was one of the largest, she was for sure the smallest. This meant a fight with him was not going to end in her favor. . .

Which only frustrated her more!

"Let them wake up! Even if I get in trouble, you will too!" Stupid brothers. And here he had the audacity to call her such a thing! Hmph. She'd show him. Still, she didn't exactly want to bring on the wrath of either of her parents, even if it met Kakek got his in the end. So she opted to just growl lowly in her throat, pausing now and then to kick at him with her back legs and squirming beneath his weight.

"I could've left any time but I chose not to. I might be a wimp for leaving the den, but you're an even bigger, stupider wimp for being afraid of Mom. Hmph." Snorting softly, she glared up at him, remembering this for a future date. When he wasn't paying attention, she'd make sure to get him good.

Yes, she was quite competative. And she hated to lose.

"Well get off me and maybe we can find something fun." She couldn't really do much with him on top of her, nor was she even going to bother to think of ideas until he was off. Stupid boys. . . . She'd show him. He might have brawn but Nyimek was always proud that she had brains. She'd be clever someday. . .or so she hoped.

Kakek huffed and snapped back at her a few times as she snapped at him. He was starting to feel a little frustrated himself. He couldn't believe that she was actually starting to bite at him. He growled and swiped a paw at her shaking his head a bit as he did. "Chill out you're only going to hurt yourself." He rolled his eyes before huffing. "I know you don't want to get into trouble you little goody two shoes." He shook his head at the idea then yawned quietly. He was starting to doubt getting up early if it was just going to be for this.

He swatted at her a few times too before rolling over and then laughing. "Like you're NOT afraid of mom." He laughed a little louder before looking at her wandering away from her. "Everyone BUT you has left the den with out knowing dad or mom was paying attention. He flicked his tail around a few more times digging his claws into the ground then he looked back at her.

"I don't know maybe I'm going to do something by myself. You're probably just going to hold me back." He chuckled a little more wiggling his toes around in the sand. He wasn't sure why he enjoyed the feeling of the sand that much but one thing wass for sure it was really nice. And he knew if he made it seem interesting she would follow.

The little cub stuck her tongue out at her brother before he finally removed himself. He had given her a few good swats but she'd remember and she'd just make herself stronger and smarter and better. Then someday he'd be the one beneath her and all would be right in the world. She loved her family, even her stupid brothers, but she wouldn't be happy until she was the strongest and the very best. She'd do whatever she had to to make that dream a reality.

Snorting softly, Nyimak gave herself a good shake before settling to groom her paws. "I'm not afraid her. Everyone knows I'm her favorite, and I'm smart enough not to get in too much trouble. And if I get in trouble and she's scolding than it just goes to show I need to get better at sneaking. Hmph." Sure, it was easy to say now she wasn't terrified of Azar. . . but face to face with her mother's agitation and anger was not something Nyimek looked forward to.

The fur on her neck rose as her brother claimed that she'd hold him up. What a brat! Turning, her fire-red eyes as cold as ice, she glared a her sibling. Of all the stupid things to say, she would not hold him back! Oooooh. . . . Kakek was going to get it today, just wait and see.

Rising she purposely strode after, though her ears had pricked with curiosity. "You'd just get yourself eaten alive if I weren't here to keep an eye on you, you know," she grumbled, trotting to his side to stare at the sand on his toes. Like him, she had a fascination with the gold stuff, and she enjoyed just how warm it felt against her paws and tickled the pads of her feet. It didn't clump or mat her fur, and a good shake got rid of most of the dust and loose bits.

Kakek had the idea that he was going to to be the strongest lion alive. Or at least to him he was going to be just as strong and proud as his grandfather. He wanted to be just like his grandfather he wanted to change everything and everyone that he saw. He shook his head huffing slightly at the idea. "No! Mommy doesn't have a favorite and you know that!" He huffed again at the idea. He didn't like it when he grunted slightly then flicked his hair out of his eyes. Before laughing slightly at her again.

"You totally are going to be the one to GET me eaten by something." He huffed shaking his head again at the idea he then laughed and smiled at the idea. Then flicked his hair out of his eyes again. Before huffing. "I don't want you to go with me." He huffed again shaking his head then paused he heard something. "UHHHH!" He growled as he looked back then looked at his sister again. "You're loud mouth got us caught!"

Azar wasn't that far away from the cubs a small smile was on her face but as she noticed the cub noticing her she growled slightly shaking her head her face with a more serious look on it. She wasn't going to get too mat at them, there was a reason though she didn't want to get too mad at her cubs and there was a reason behind it, she remembered when she was a youngg cub her annd her sister always went out and caused trouble. She knew with such a large litter she wasn't going to be able to watch all of them at all times. "What are you two up to?" She asked as she glanced at the two sitting down next to them pulling Nyimek to her first licking her head and smiling at her before reaching over and doing the same to Kakek.

"I know me and daddy never told you that you could wander out of the den." She chuckled slightly and sat back on her haunches wrapping a paw out of both of them. Pulling them close. "You guys should be glad that I found you instead of daddy." He chuckled slightly before nodding and then looking over to the side. "So something tells me you guys think that we should all go out and play in the sand some day hm?" She chuckled slightly at the idea, she should get her dad and mom to go too, they would love to see their grandchildren.

All right. So she knew that their parents didn't have a favorite, but that didn't mean she couldn't annoy her brother with the thought! His irritation at her comments pleased her and she could only laugh at him.

What a silly brother she had.

"Whatever . . . If anything tried to eat me I'd show it. My claws are just as sharp as yours, remember. Besides. You're fatter than I am so I think they'd want to eat you first." Snorting softly she stuck her nose up in the air and trotted a few steps away from her brother, hoping to prove that she didn't need his company at all.

Just as Kakek heard her mother, Nyimek's own ears turned. Her heart stopped for a moment as she realized that they were indeed caught. Oh brother. Her fur stood on edge as she turned to cast one last glare at her brother. "My loud mouth! You're the one who kept talking, hmph." Of course Nyimek was innocent. Well. . . mostly. She had been doing just fine with her training.

Still. . . . She was almost afraid to look up at her mother. While it was easy to say she wasn't afraid of her parents, everyone knew that was a bald-faced lie. Deciding to be brave, she looked up at her mother and noticed she didn't seem very happy at all. Oh man. . . .

Still, before she had a chance to respond her mothers paw snagged her and she found herself getting a lick on the head and . . .a smile? Were they . . .were they not going to get in trouble? She couldn't help but smile back, reaching up to bat playfully at her mother before rolling over to her side. "We were just playin'. . . . the gold stuff is nice on the paws, and it was hard to stay inside when it was so bright out here! Though I was training first, all inside the den, until Kakek decided he was going to wander away." And that was the truth.

She wasn't tattling, the two of them had gotten caught fair and square. It wasn't the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Cuddling up against her mother, she too sat up on her haunches and tried to mimic her. She adored her mother, she wanted to be just like her when she grew up. . strong and tough and frightening when angry. And big too. Nyimek REFUSED to be the smallest all her life, thank you.

Kakek looked at his sister before sticking his tongue out at her before huffing slightly. But then a smile grew on his lips as he looked at his mother. She was looking happy She was looking pretty happy anyway. That made him feel even better that wasn't what he thought was coming. He was expecting something Compeltly different but he was overjoyed to see that his mother was happy and wasn't mad a them. He nuzzled against his mother as she licked his head and everything. He purred before glaring at his sister. He was going to say something back but he didn't want to get into trouble for saying something.

"But we didn't mean to cause harm." He said simply nodding before looking up at her. "Sorry if we made you worry mommy." He said to her with a nod.

Azar chuckled at er children before nudging them and standing up. "Well little ones lets get you two back home." She smiled as she stood up and turned around flicking her tail as if to tell them that she wanted them to follow her. "You guys aren't doing anything me and my sister did." She giggled again nodding her head to the two before she started to walk toward the den. "I'm glad you were training." She chuckled to the little cub before smiling. "Just remember to spend your time having fun and playing, I don't want you to spend all of your time training when you could be playing." She said simply to the little one she spent a lot of her time traning when she wa slittle and some times she wished that she didn't.

Nyimak pulled a face in response to her brother sticking out his tongue, but for the most part kept her attention adoringly on Azar. Her mother and father were the absolute best . . . but she felt a strong connection with her mother. She had her wings, and while she only had a black mask with the rest of her body a burnt shade of red, she couldn't help but aspire to be just like Mom. Besides, mother was a girl . . . that helped cement her adoration.

Girls were pretty epic, after all. Much cooler than boys.

Still, Nyimak would have been lying if she said she wasn't relieved that her mother was content and in a good mood. Feeling her wrath or anger was never fun and could be frightening too! So the fact that they weren't in trouble was a good thing. . . . A very good thing.

Following her mother, trotting proudly beside her, the red-orange eyed cub knit her brows in confusion as Azar told her not to train too much. "But training's important if I wanna grow strong and faster . . . " She didn't want to admit she realized she was a small cub, even compared to some of her siblings, but that's what drove her to desire training. If she could be stronger and faster and tougher surely she'd grow in size too! She wanted to be big, just like her Mom, and it wasn't going to happen if she didn't train.

"But I'll make sure to play too I guess," she added with a small sigh, not entirely sold on the idea. Most of her games with her siblings turned in to some sort of fight anyway, so maybe it wouldn't be all that bad. She'd still get to prove how tough she was and how her training paid off by beating her brothers in whatever game they played. So maybe it would be good to give up training for a little bit. . .
PostPosted: Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:09 pm

Azar chuckled slightly and nodded toward the little cub, she leaned down and nudged the cub smiling softly as she did. "Ah but if you do nothing but train you're going to miss acting like a cub when you're older." She said simply she knew what it was like. Some times she wish she had spend more time playing with her siblings instead of running around training all the time. She missed when she was younger and she could play. So because of that she wanted her cubs to have time where they could play and have their time playing instead of training all the time.

She nudged both of the cubs before smiling slightly. "It's also good to have fun when ever you want. Sure training it always good but it's the best to. She then looked up. "We've almost there." She grinned at them and then chuckled again. She loved giving her cubs chances to have fun just as much as she loved being able to have them around.
