[Image to come] He felt his heart pulse in the pads of his feet. His mane glistened and sparkled just as the prides sandy soil did, while their mid-day sun shot rays of light across the desert...And he moved with redefined steps, taking to the palpable grounds like a fish to water. This was his home now; Mwanyambi felt his purpose resided here, amongst the toughest bunch of lions there were.
The black cat was out of character today, moving with a confident swagger and grinning all the while. "I wonder what she expects of me..." He murmured, pressing both paws firmly into the top of a sand dune. It overlooked the rest of the desert, several patches of lush green vegetation, and the large rock fixed awkwardly within the desert. It stuck up from the ground at an angle, with a surface flat enough to walk upon...it was perfect for a duel, if only to add a degree of excitement to an already thrilling event.
Before his joining with the Firekin pride, Mwan had no reason to fight for acceptance. The Pridelands were a welcoming lot, and even if duels were a part of the joining process Mwan never had to endure one. Now it was all he ever wanted to do. As if he were raised in a tube all his life, kept away from the world and having never experienced puberty, Mwanyambi felt the rush of the fight even when his eyes shut for slumber.
Finally he came to the base of the stone and sat in the shade it offered, scanning the horizon for the females gentle features to surface.

Mii'ah had spent many days preparing herself for the duel that was to come and now, although she did not feel ready, she knew it was time. She made her way across the sands towards the spot they had arranged to meet at. It was rather amusing to the red lioness that she would be sparring with the very male she had met only a few weeks ago. Back then she had only heard of the legendary Firekin, a pride who thrived on power, strength and cleverness.
When she had met him everything had fallen into place, like he was the final, missing piece to the puzzle that was her life. For the time being at least. He informed her and sent her in the right direction. Now she only needed to best him in a fight in order to prove herself worthy of being a member.
While she had never been much of a fighter, not yet anyway, she was confident in her ability to outsmart her opponent. It was how she always had the upperhand when it came to dealing with her siblings. She was determined to come out and top. She'd be damned if anyone stopped her.
Her green eyes caught sight of the black cat near the base of a large black rock. A smirk spread across her lips as she quicken her pace. "My, my what do we have here?" she called in a teasing tone.
