Name: Tanto Ashirogi
Aliases/ Nicknames: Ash
Physical Description: An unremarkable man, almost infinitely forgettable, save for his height (he exceeds seven feet tall) and his glasses
Age: 25, died May 4, 2004
Zanpaktou's Spirit & Name:
Kurosumi Ori (Black-Ink Pen)
Zanpaktou: A black-handled G-pen that never runs out of ink (achieved)
Shikai Release: "Sketch the world, Kurosumi Ori!"
Shikai: The pen's ink may be used to draw on any surface, including thin air. Objects drawn in their entirety become solid, taking on the characteristics of what they are drawn to represent. This does not extend to Kido effects or living beings, and copies only the physical characteristics of the object. Objects created in such a manner are highly vulnerable to water, and a direct hit from a water-based attack can render up to one hundred square feet of the object useless, removing its structural integrity. This does not cause the ink to dissipate, however, and water-neutralized ink constructs retain a spongy texture and may be used as a thrown projectile, one handful being sufficient to blind an opponent on impact. All objects created in such a manner are instantly recognizable as ink constructs and leave a black, powdery residue on the hands of any who touch it. Not Achieved
Bankai: Kurosumi Ryuujin (Black-Ink Dragon God)
Description: All of the ink in Tanto's pen is released at once, forming an enormous black dragon formed of countless thousands of gallons of black ink. The fluid that makes up the dragon contains a paralyzing chemical that reacts with reiatsu to halt all movement in the area directly around the point of contact. this lasts for roughly ten minutes, though if it affects the brain, heart, or lungs there is an almost 100% chance of death or permanent and severe damage before the paralysis wears off. Not Achieved
Special Accessories: Headphones - Tanto listens to music through these. They are hard enough to block a sword strike from a moderately skilled opponent, and the intricacies of their construction allow him to hear perfectly regardless of whether he's listening to music or not.
Skills: Artist - Tanto, thanks to his career in life, is an accomplished artist, and in fact makes his living in the human world by selling his portraits and sceneries.
Abilities: Unencumbered Sight - Tanto cannot be affected by the blinding characteristic of his own ink.
True Vision - If he can examine a stationary and compliant subject for at least five minutes Tanto can draw a portrait of them that allows their true personality to shine through the image.
Personality: Tanto is very eccentric and 'artsy,' swinging between anger and joy at the drop of a hat. It isn't quite so bad as to be diagnosed bipolarity, but he can still get nasty if he's set off. Because of this, he's been 'retired' to the human world prematurely, keeping tabs on certain areas and reporting in periodically.
Biography/History: Tanto Ashirogi was a small-time erotic manga artist in Korea, having moved there from his Japanese hometown, when he was cancelled in the weekly mag that published him. He tried for several years to get re-serialized, and was on his way to the editor's office building with his (final) storyboard when he was run over by a truck whose brakes had given out at that moment. His final work was published as a posthumous tribute in the magazine, and he was forgotten relatively quickly. Upon arrival at the Soul Society he was immediately recognized as a standout student, not because his talent made him particularly noticeable, but because he was disturbingly enthusiastic about anything he did. This, combined with some other quirks of his, earned him a permanent assignment to the human world, living in a Gigai that rented out his old apartment. He has almost completely replicated his old life, though with an alias, and reports back to the Soul Society periodically.
