Aiko purred softly, nuzzling her sleepy little babies until they'd finally fallen asleep. She'd managed to get Kanie to stop chewing her eldest sibling, and calmed Hikari down enough to make sure he wasn't actually hurt. Now the three of them were sleeping peacefully. But there were four cubs to put to bed.
Four perfect spotty black and white and pink little angels. For all that Kanie liked to bite and Hikari tended to cry and Satomei always had something to tell her about. But none of them were still awake, evidently worn out already from their little scuffle earlier.
It probably said something that her eldest son's first words had been 'Mama!' shortly followed by 'No, no bite!' but whatever it was she didn't care. Kanie was just going to grow up ferocious, it was a good thing. Satomei might seem like a tell-tale, but she was just observant. Hikari and Jiro surely had talents blooming too, just more quietly than their younger sisters.
"Jiro, baby, aren't you sleepy?" she asked, nuzzling her little black spotted son lovingly.

Jiro glanced up as his mother came over to nuzzle him. The boy had wandered over to a corner of the cave and curled up around the time his sisters got up and began to harass his brother. He already knew better than to get involved with them during that time, so he'd just found a spot to quietly nap and stay out of the way. Now, he was a good bit more awake and free to enjoy it without having to swat away bitey sisters.
Shaking his head, the cub looked up at his Mama quietly. "Noisy." he said pointing to the others, fast asleep, "Napped 'nyway." His first words had been "shush" and "go 'way" promptly followed by a firm push to his sister and going to lay down elsewhere. He had learned words pretty quickly, just didn't want to use them for the most part.

Aiko smiled down at her second son. She'd been so proud to have two, in hindsight perhaps the name wasn't the most original or special. But it was to her. He was her second baby, her second boy. He was the only one, he was her precious little Jiro and no matter how big he got that was going to be the same. Just like Hikari was her little brightness, being so very white. Kanie was her little shadow, and Satmei was her little sweetling.
"Ah, I see," she purred, sitting down beside him. "Well, you can't be noisy now or they'll wake up and be noisy again..." she warned. She loved her babies, but they did need to sleep. So did she for that matter, but she managed find as it was. They kept getting bigger so fast, she didn't want to close her eyes or she might miss something!

Jiro shook his head, moving to curl up against her side. "Don't wanna be noisy. Glad s'quiet." he told her calmly, head resting against his mother's flank, "Gonna swat Kanie if she keeps bein bitey. Makes 'kari squeal too much." the young male complained. He loved his siblings but they needed to not do everything in the world to be annoying, particularly cooped up in their little home.
"When we get to go out with you, Mommy?" the cub asked, eyes soft as he looked up at his mother. Spending time with Mommy was nice - she liked them all and she was strong. They'd get to do fun things when they could go away with her.

"Oh, no baby, you shouldn't hit your sister..." Aiko chided, sighing softly as he leaned up against her. She was utterly unable to be mad at any of them, her scolding was more out of 'they need to know better' than actual anger or annoyance. She really needed to find a better outlet for Kanie than her poor pink brother though...but she didn't need them hitting each other on top of things.
"I'd like to take you out soon," she crooned, curling her body to cuddle him closer. But she needed to get things worked out to make sure no one would take them away from her first. Most entertainer's cubs became slaves, she needed to get a higher rank before she let the world know she had little ones.
But then...Nana and Mana already both knew. Nyoka was bound to have heard from one of them. What was she supposed to do now?

"She shouldn't bite 'kari and make him squeal." Jiro pouted some, obviously not fond of being woken up to squeals and cries for Mommy from his very pink brother. "If she bites me, I'll bite her back. Kanie'll leave me alone." he grumped.
A smile came to the young one's face as she talked of taking them out, "Will we get to see people that aren't Nana?" the cub was not exactly fond of his uncle's visits - his baby sister tended to get insufferable then and Nana made his Mama growly which was annoying because then Hikari'd whine and Kanie'd bite him. "Don't like Uncle Nana."

Oh dear.
"Jiro, please don't bite your little sister," Aiko sighed. Somehow she was certain that if he bit back there would be actual bloodshed in the den. She had to leave so often, what if it happened while she was working? What would she do if one of them was hurt?
"Yes, lots of people besides him," Aiko promised, licking a fluff of fur on the top of his head flatter. "I don't like him much either right now, even though he's my brother and I probably should..." she sighed. What kind of an example was she setting then?

"My little sister needs to not bite her big brothers." he commented back, reaching up to nudge her away from his head fluff with a paw. His paws were soft and padded and just lightly pushed against Mommy's cheek, trying to get her out of his hair. "Noooo, flat enough." he whined. Mommy and her grooming, what could ya do?
"S'good. I dun wanna 'fta keep chasin 'kari back inside cause he wansa see you." the cub informed his mother. His elder sibling was a tad needy and sometimes wandered out of the den to look for Mommy - he'd been brought back by her once before but after that, Jiro had chased him down to nudge him back inside. Too much trouble, his siblings were.

"Yes, but one of you needs to learn to be responsible first," Aiko tried, "You should try setting a good example." And if that didn't work she'd have to find some way of maintaining order while she was gone. Maybe it was time to try a look around the rogue lands again, see if she could bring someone back to look after them. It would only make her standing better if she recruited a new member, and her cubs would be safer under the watchful eye of a nanny...
"Well, it's very good of you to look after your siblings, Jiro," she told him, nuzzling him gently and stopping with her grooming at his protests. For now.

"I am s'pons'ble. S'self defense. S'a good example." Jiro mumbled around the pout forming on his face. Maybe they really did need a nanny with the way he thought.
The boy curled closer to Mommy at her nuzzles, "Tickles." he mumbled squirming and rubbing his cheek against her side a bit.

...oh dear. It was certainly hard to argue with that logic, no matter that she did not want her cubs fighting with one another. Especially when she might not be there with them all the time! What would she do if one of them got hurt?
"I would be very said if any of you were hurt," Aiko tried explaining gently, curling herself more closely around him as he cuddled closer. They were all so tiny and adorable and absolutely precious... the idea of any of them being unhappy was horrid. She really had to find a person to look after them, but who would look after them while she was looking for this person??? It was such a dilmea...she didn't know what to do.
But, clearly, she had to do something before some kind of accident occurred.

Jiro's mind was neither on accidents nor on whether or not him fighting his sister would result in her being hurt. It was more a matter of 'problem' 'solution' and solving the matter, his young mind not realizing he was as much of an issue as his sister. "Tell Kanie. She no bite, no one hurt." See? All normal! If only the issue were that simple.
A yawn cut through the cub's next attempt at speaking and he looked crosseyed at the end of his own nose as he tried to stifle the rest of it. Hey, mouth, why did you yawn? He wasn't tired! Bad mouth, bad!

"Alright sweetling. I'll talk to your sister." Again. It was hard to explain things to Kanie. She didn't intend harm, that much Aiko had come to understand. Her little blackfurred daughter did not speak well at all, not even on the same level as her siblings. Aiko worried. Her own voice, while pleasent, had always been extremely lacking musically, what if there were something wrong with it and she'd passed it down to her daughter? The biting seemed to be Kanie's attempts to compromise for not talking... though something did indeed need to be done about it.
"In the mean time," she continued, and tried not to laugh at the huge yawn, "Why don't we take advantage of the quiet and have a nap ourselves, hm?" Maybe Jiro would sleep if it seemed more special? Certainly she wouldn't mind a nice long lie-down. Especially with a little cubling curled up beside her. Purring softly, she leaned to nuzzle the tiny little body beside her before rasping her tongue over his little skull. "Sound good to you?"

Jiro tried to protest but another yawn cut him off. A special nap with Mommy while it was quiet? That'd be nice. No siblings to wake them up and he got Mommy all to himself for a bit!
"Sure..." the cub answered begrudgingly after a few, burying his face in his mother's side a little and snuggling down till he was comfortable. A nap could be...okay...right?...
And soon, he was out like a light.
