Kame = Bold Black
Kinaya = Hot Pink
It had been on Kame's mind for a couple days now, the thought of children. He was itching for them now, he could feel it under his skin, the urge to hear little paws pattering everywhere he went. He had never had this urge before, but with nothing to keep him occupied, he needed them now. Someone to train, someone to discipline, someone to pass on his knowledge to.
He sought out Kinaya. She had been eager at the idea of bearing him children, and knew she would still be eager now. With her youth she'd have the energy to handle a litter, even if she did not have the knowledge. That's what Tai was there for. Kinaya would have plenty of guidance from Tai through her pregnancy and during her raising of the children.
"Kinaya!" He called, looking for the young lioness.
The pink lioness was happily stretched out in a patch of sun, cleaning off one of her paws. She took a bit more pride in her appearance now that she had a mate to make look good and impress, as well as a fellow female to be compared to. Her pink coat was gleaming in the sunlight and at her mate's cry, she turned to look around for him happily.
"Kame! What is it, love?"
Following the very vibrant voice, Kame found Kinaya quickly. She was sunbathing pleasantly, preening herself as women often did. It was interesting for him to see, as he had never really taken such notice to women before. Sure, he had fancied one or two in his day, but it never led anywhere, not with his dedication to the job.
"Kinaya, I wish to speak to you about something of importance," He explained, walking up to her and joining her within the sun, even if it did irritate him slightly. Sunlight and his coat, not always the most pleasant of mixes.
The little female sat up a bit, smiling. "All right. But are you sure we should do it here? The sun always makes you sweaty and there's some nice trees just over that way." she pointed out, that childlike innocence and dedication to her new family cropping up again. Kinaya really was a good girl, whether or not she was the most mature. It was obvious that any cubs she bore would end up being loved and treated well, and any mate she had would be honored and given the utmost respect and care.
Kame admired many of Kinaya's traits, especially her dedication and selflessness. He hadn't wanted to disturb her from her sunbathing but if she was offering to move with him, he wouldn't refuse her wishes, "If you would like to move by the trees, we can do so. I am fine either way."
He hoped that the dedication and selflessness Kinaya possessed would be passed down to any children they had. He of course would hope they also took some of his more favorable traits, but he'd be pleased if they were as sweet as their mother. After all, he could simply train the boys to be as disciplined as he, they didn't have to be that off the bat.
"I wanted to know, Kinaya, whether or not you felt ready for cubs," He began, "With us settling into a new home soon I felt this would be the most appropriate time to approach you about this."
She stood, walking slowly towards the trees so as not to get ahead of him - he was in charge, after all. Kinaya was bouncy and quick and young, but Kame was head of the family so he was to lead the way really.
The pink lioness blinked a bit before thinking. "Well, I think so. There's only so much preparation we can really do, isn't there? We'll have a home, and so long as you, Tai and I know to expect them, everything will be okay, right?"
Kame couldn't help but crack a smile at Kinaya's words. She was humorous sometimes in her innocence, it was rather endearing to listen to. Shaking his head to her he continued on, "I meant do you personally feel ready to be a mother, Kinaya. You are still young, and I don't wish for you to have to face motherhood until you are sure you are ready for it."
He strolled with her to the tree, taking his time. He could tell Kinaya held herself back often when he was around, and while it bothered him some he didn't stop her from doing as she wanted to. After all, if she didn't want to be here, or act as she did, she was allowed to leave whenever she pleased. He had made that clear when she had joined him, he was not going to keep any female here against their will. It was not in him to do so.
She looked at him with a puzzled expression in her soft eyes, "Why wouldn't I be ready? I have you and Tai, I'm happy. I'm sure babies woud be fine." the young femae seemed to not really understand the grownuply concerns that came with raising a family. Kinaya had never had a big family nor had she really ever gotten taught the responsabiities that came with one. Everything she did for her mate was instinct and idea of what was good. And her instincts said that food was good, the land was healthy, her protector was strong, and things would be fine.
As long as Kinaya was fine with it, Kame found no other reason to discuss it. He would have her bear his children, and hopefully he wouldn't freak her out with the process. A young, virgin lioness such as herself may not be as receptive their first time as an older lioness, or Tai, would be. It's a new experience, and often times a little scary. At least, it was what he heard many times over in his old pride. He didn't have much first hand knowledge...except for that one girl. He wasn't even quite sure what she was. Too big to be a leopard, but did not resemble a lion.
"It is decided than," He said confidently as he layed in the shade with Kinaya, "We'll try for a family. "
She let out a small purring noise, snuggling closer to him in the shade. "Sounds good to me. I hope I don't embarass you though - I'm new at the rest of it."
