I WANT EVERYONE TO RESPOND TO THIS and EMAIL PROTEST TO PrinceWilliam@vec.virginia.gov ESP IF YOU ARE A COLLEGE STUDENT!

I am a college student and go to college during the day while working during evenings and weekends. I do so not by choice but because I have to in order to do both. I am going to school to become a public school teacher of all things and even without state budget cuts my major rarely if ever has night classes and with such cuts none. In the views of the VEC behind the times policies they ignore the work habits of most college students and many other Virginians. Evidence provided below (I have the email save to my account so can share to prove the below is indeed a real email from the VEC about thier policy). Additionally the polices below are what the VEC is using to deny me unemployment and say I have to pay back prior unemployment benefits.

Subject: RE: Workforce Center Question
If not resolved. I believe you misunderstood. Being able and available applies to normal working hours for a normal work week which is considered from Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm. It has nothing to do with going to Church. Concerning attending college, The Unemployment Compensation Act is generic, it has no feelings. Should you qualify for benefits, you must be able, available and actively seeking work. Going to college during the day or normal business hours may have a direct influence on your ability to collect unemployment. The clearly states, "Anyone may file for unemployment, if they are unemployed, Whether or not you are eligible for benefits, must be determined, after you have filed."
