There was someone sleeping next to her.
It wasn't a feeling that Sarai minded, except that usually she knew who she would be waking up with. It'd been far, far too long since she'd been cognizant of her surroundings, and she didn't like waking up like this, that was for certain.
Warily pink eyes opened and she moved her head just a bit in order to see who -- or what -- laid curled against her belly. Sarai's eyes widened more when she noticed it wasn't just one thing resting against her, but FOUR things. Four cubs. Terribly ugly ones, too.
Stupid Amara.
Since the cubs were fast asleep, Sarai inched her way out from under them and backed away before turning towards the entrance of the den and to her escape. She had no idea where she was or how she'd gotten here, but she wouldn't put it past Amara to set up shop with some smitten lion to start a family of her own.
Stupid, stupid Amara.

It had been a long, LONG night. The borders had been quiet as usual but it was always a long night when he was on night patrol. Luckily, now he had the whole day to simply relax and be loved by his Banu and his step cubs.
Stepping in to the dull shadows of the den he lets a light chuckle roll over his lips "Honey, I'm home." He shakes his head, he was always amused when he said this simplest of greetings. Of course, when he realised that no one was home, except the cubs, a frown creased his brow. Amara wouldn't leave the cubs alone! Kifa was probably out hunting. With no mother there to watch over them the cubs could have gotten lost, or in trouble. An angry feeling bubbled inside his chest as he pads up to the snoozing cubs.
Amara's scent was still strong in the area where the cubs lay and luckily the little tots were warm enough to remain in a deep sleep despite the absence of their mother. With a grunt he steps, carefully, over the babies and heads back out of the den. Amara knew better than to leave the cubs with no one there!
"Amara!" he calls, glancing back at the den only once before taking to his heels, following the chocolate and pink lionesses trail.

Sarai moved silently away from the dens, being sure to stick to the shadows for all the good it did her. Thankfully it was dark enough that she was able to escape unnoticed. Well, for the most part. She'd just crept past a den full of snoring lions when she heard someone call out for Amara.
Sarai paused for a moment. She turned to glance over her shoulder, the bright white pelt of a grown lion drawing closer to her. Ugh, stupid Amara. Sarai sped up, not wanting to be caught by whoever was chasing her. She didn't recognize him, but Amara must've known him.
She was REALLY out of shape. Stupid Amara, ruining her body with babies. What was she thinking? Her belly and breasts sagged; she felt weak and still she pushed herself to continue on. Probably not the wisest idea, no, but she didn't want to be caught.
If she was caught, she would have to fight.

With her soft light coloured pelt Kwea spotted the lioness easily enough "Amara!" he calls again following her quickly. She heard him, he saw her turn, why was she continuing to walk away from him? A low rumble echoed in his chest. not only was she walking away from him but she was walking away from the cubs too? This would not do at all.
Speeding up the large white male ghosted towards her. "Amara stop..right..now.." He annunciates his words, pronouncing each one loud enough for her to hear, there was anger growing in his voice. How DARE she walk away from him and leave the cubs,s he knew her role in his den.
Breaking in to a run the bloody maned male was working himself up in to an angry frenzy. Why wasn't she stopping?

"This guy just isn't going to give up, is he?" Sarai panted to herself, already tired and achy from running. He was fast, too, and that irritated Sarai beyond belief. She just wanted to get away from this stranger that Amara was playing wife to and do what SHE wanted to do for once.
STUPID AMARA.
What should she do? Should she stop and risk a fight? Or should she keep running and take the chance that she'd be able to escape this angry-sounding lion?
She kept running.

Picking up his pace the white and bloody maned male roared a loud, frustrated roar. He wasn't about to let her keep running from him. His deep red eyes fixed on her tail. He would soon catch up to her and all hell would break loose when he did. no one ran from him, NO ONE abandoned HIM!
His teeth flashed perfectly sharp and white as he came up on her his paws ready to hook her back legs and pull her down. he had heard stories of males ham-stringing their lionesses so they could never run again. he didn't want to do that to Amara but she was RUNNING from HIM! RUNNING!
"Stop right now Amara I swear to you you are losing my patience!"

Curse him. She couldn't run anymore. Her body was lax from lack of exercise, still a bit sore from childbirth, and Sarai was angry. She was more than angry, she was curiously furious at this lion who insisted in his pursuit of her. Not only that, but he was threatening her?
Sarai wouldn't stand for that.
She came screeching to a halt, turned tail and stood her ground. "Stop CHASING me!" She roared at him. A paw lifted, claws unsheathed, as she threatened him with physical violence.

Kwea skids to a stop his deep, blood red eyes fixed on the pale lioness. His favourite ban and she was trying to escape from him? Trying to run away? Trying to leave him? Demanding he stop chasing her. He saw noting but red.
Lifting a paw he swiped at Amara'Sarai his claws unsheathed. "How dare you Amara! I do not chase you, I told you I will not have to walking away from me, your CUBS are in MY den, I took you in and your b*****d children without a second thought and you DARE to run from me?"
Anger boiled his blood as he looked her over, he was ready to pounce her, ready to beat her until she was unconscious, beat her till she could think no more, so he could simply lift her bodily and dump her back in his den. A lesson to those whom might want to leave him again. If Amara did it, Kifa might get ideas after all. He was not best pleased.

Sarai hissed at him, hackles forming a rigid line of fur all down her back. So, Amara had never told this one about herself? Ignorant lioness. So stupid, so innocent. It was disgusting. Almost adorable how this lion got so infuriated by the mere thought of Amara wanting to leave him.
"I am NOT Amara," she spat at him, back arched. "And you will STOP chasing me." Sarai would not hesitate to lash out at the lion in hopes of causing damage, hopefully maiming him enough to make her escape.
"Now, let me leave and I won't have to hurt you. I am tired of Amara taking control, it is MY turn, and I am going to leave NOW and you will stop following me!"

This was the last straw pretending to be someone else? "NO!" he growls leaping and tackling the chocolate brown and pink lioness pinning her under his huge pale bulk. His blood red eyes could see nothing but her betrayal! She had betrayed him, she knew his secrets, knew his heart, if anything he was starting, no, not even starting, he loved Amara, she was loyal an brave and loved her cubs and left him feeling adored.
Pinning her paws to the ground with his own his lips turn in an angry snarl, his teeth barred. "How dare you demand something of me? How DARE you pretend to be someone else! You think that giving me foolish excuses makes it okay?" He strikes her quickly across the head swiftly following with a bite to her chest and neck before he pins her paws once again using his superior size to bind her to the hard ground.
He wasn't about to knock her out just yet, he wanted her to know just how angry he was with her. "You won't forget this night in a hurry Amara, no one, NO ONE runs from me!"

Sarai had the very breath knocked out of her by the lion's impact. He was massive, that fact made even more obvious by his impressive weight pressing her down into the dirt beneath her. His eyes were furious and she felt just a speck of fear as she stared up into those blood red eyes.
Perhaps running hadn't been a good idea. Lying might've been a better tactic to start with.
Pinned beneath him, there was little she could do. Lips were drawn back in a heinous snarl as she hissed at him. His paw colliding with her head dazed her; the world started spinning around her violently. He moved so fast, delivering bites to her chest and neck with such anger. They weren't deep, fatal wounds, but they still hurt, and Sarai cried out in pain.
"Amara won't even REMEMBER this happening, fool! My name is Sarai, and you will remember that name, I assure you," she hissed weakly, still breathless from his initial impact.

Narrowing his eyes at the pale female he seriously considered turning and biting her back legs. If he tore a tendon on her back leg she would limp forever, she would never be able to run again but she would also never be able to hunt. His head was clear enough to think of the pros and cons of hamstringing one of his Banu.
"Oh, You'll never forget!" He growls lifting one of his paws, claws out and dragging it down her belly. "You will wear my scars now Amara!" He hisses, his mips turning in a scowl as he steps off the smaller lioness, he points back in the direction of the den. "Get back to the den, NOW!" he barks, he had never ordered Amara around before she usually did what he asked, but now, well she had lost all of his confidence and he had to beat her for it to make sure she never ran from him again.
"Back to the den Amara!"

Sarai was furious, she ached everywhere. Muscles were screaming in agony, she was sure to have a lump on her head from where he'd knocked her down. Add to that, she was FILTHY now, and reeked of dirt and blood and this MALE. His scent was all over her. While she'd be tempted to seduce him under completely different circumstances, Sarai could only think of escape now. It was crucial.
After he scratched up her belly and removed himself from weighing her down, she slowly clambered to her feet, body slouched as if completely submissive. Tail dragged in the dirt, she limped as if terribly pained. Everything would appear as if Sarai would simply obey him.
That would not be the case.
After rising to her feet and catching her breath, Sarai bolted again. She ran, fast as she could with her aching body and the scratches seeping blood, away from him. She had to make it. Escape was her only chance. Why had Amara chosen such a male? He was big, strong, agile, and not afraid to punish one who might disobey.
Stupid Amara. Sarai hated her so very much.

It didn't take Kwea very long at all to turn around and race after her. Was she serious? he had given her a reprieve and she DARED to try and escape again. "Enough Amara!" he hisses through his teeth pouncing once again his claws stretched out catching her at the shoulders and pulling backwards.
He knew full well she would need time to recover from this beating but he doubted she would ever forget it. Hooking her back leg, as he would a prey beast the pale lion once again looms over Amara'Sarai, he could smell her blood, rich and irony and he wanted to mark her more wanted to punish her further for her mutiny.
"I trusted you Amara, I trusted you above Kifa because you gave me your adoration. Consider, your privileges, STOPPED!" He barked cuffing her several times around the head, waiting for her to lose consciousness so he could bodily return her to her cubs, to his adopted children where she was supposed to be.

Sarai had known from the moment she'd tried to make her escape that she would be unsuccessful. Perhaps part of her wanted to punish Amara for what she'd done. Sarai didn't even pause to think that it had been her own actions that had put Amara in a situation where she'd need a male's protection; no, the selfish lioness had only wanted escape from whatever situation Amara had gotten them into.
She wasn't prepared this time for the force of his claws at her shoulders, forcing her back. Sarai screamed in fury, pain, frustration, hate. Hate for this lion, hate for Amara, and hate for those stupid cubs. The scent of her own blood saturated the air. Had this been a normal circumstance, she would welcome the feel of his claws and bites with perverse delight. Now, she was merely furious, frightened, and in pain.
He caught her by surprise when he cuffed her over and over, her eyesight turning dark with each impact. She hissed, bloodied, at the pale lion, "I. Am. SARAI," -- a mere whisper of words before everything went dark, and Sarai fell limp beneath him.
