Over the last couple days Kichaa'noga had been feeling....off. Usually she was happy and loving, sometimes mean, even when she didn't want to be. Today was quite different, though. The little bright red banu sat underneath a big tree some ways from the den, her head laying upon the dirt and her, rubbing it down into the dirt, in an odd manner.
She whimpered, cried, and generally felt bad. She didn't want to eat, and though the sun was high in the sky, everything seemed so dark to her. She had bad dreams, too. Terrible dreams about her sister and mother going away. Sighing, Kichaa'noga rolled onto her side, the biggest unhappy face ever seen plastered on her.

Kokojicho was having a day much like any other. Life as a cub in the pride could oftentimes be confusing and even rather boring; it was hard to make friends when all the females were busy looking after their duties and all the males were busy looking after the females. It was frustrating to Koko, and the cub had been unnaturally quiet the past few days, almost to the point where her mother was feeling quite concerned about her daughter. Koko loved her family, would do anything for them. Mama had been pretty beat-up recently and that confused Koko; her mama and papa Kwea confused Koko; her brothers confused Koko. The only one who didn't confuse Koko was her beloved sister, Kichaa. Well, she didn't normally confuse Koko, anyway. Making her way from the den, Koko kept her eyes open for Kichaa. It wasn't hard to spot her sister; the bright red coat was Kichaa's trademark, and it was one of the things that Koko loved most about her sister. Wandering up to Kichaa, Koko immediately noticed her sad, forlorn face and sat down close to her sister. She was quiet for a long moment before deciding to speak, and when she did talk her voice was hushed. "Whass wrong?"

Kichaa looked up, noticing Koko as she approached. Koko had been quiet recently, Kichaa had been sad, and momma, well, momma was owwies right now. Kichaa wasn't quite sure why momma was all owwies, or how she got the owwies, but they were there and it only added to her saddness.
Starring up at her sister, Kichaa extended a paw and tried to drag her sister into a hug pitifully, "Chacha's heart hurts, Koko. It hurts with sad."
She sighed heavily, and tried to nuzzle her sister with a small whimper. Kichaa just wanted some snuggle time right now, with anyone. She felt so bad and she didn't know why, that it was physically exhausting her. She was also starving, but didn't want to eat.
"Koko, Chacha not know why she so sad..."

Koko willingly went into her sisters weak embrace, nuzzling close. She hated that Chacha was so so sad; she hated that she herself felt so down. It didn't make any sense, but Koko felt the need to make her sister feel better.
"Sometimes its okay to be sad," she soothed, haphazardly grooming her sister's vibrant fur. "Sad is just sad, maybe there is no why." There, that made sense. Well, sort of.
Koko sighed heartily and fell silent. What a terrible day this was.

Kichaa gave off a small purr as Koko groomed her, feeling a little better inside now that her sister was there with her. She always felt bad when she had the meanness in her and took it out on Koko. She never meant to, she didn't even know why she was being mean, it just happened like it was something she couldn't control.
She looked up to her sister and gave her a lick on the face, "Chacha is so sorry Koko. Chacha knows she does mean things sometimes, but Chacha doesn't mean them...Chacha loves you, and tries Chacha's best not to hurt Koko, but sometimes she can't stop herself. It's like Chacha can't control herself..."
She sighed and hugged her sister tightly, nuzzling her the best she could, "Please don't hate Chacha, Koko."

Koko couldn't really believe that her sister could even think that Koko hated her. Koko loved her only sister and looked up to her since she was older than Koko. Kichaa was brave and different and not afraid to be loud and have fun. Koko tried to be friendly and loud, she wanted to be like her sister, but sometimes it didn't work out.
"Koko always loves her sister, Chacha," Koko purred in between grooming her sister's vibrant, lovely fur. "Never hate."

Kichaa let a couple tears roll down her face as her sister groomed her bright red fur and told her she'd never hate her. She had tried her best not to cry and be strong, like the vibrant color of her coat, but right now she felt so dull and sad. She sighed and nuzzled Koko, returning the grooming her sister gave the best she could. Truth be told, she sometimes envied her sister for having fur that wasn't as bright as hers. It let Koko hide when she wanted to hide, unlike herself, where even when she was hiding, she'd still get spotted.
"Has Koko made friends?" Kichaa asked, thoughtfully, thinking that maybe if she change the subject from her being sad to something more happy, than she in turn would become happier too.
Kichaa herself hadn't made any friends as of yet. She had played with a semi-pleasant boy named Anwar, but she didn't get the impression that he very much liked having her follow him around in their games. Perhaps if she wasn't as boisterous he'd want to be her friend.

Koko shook her head, leveling a beleaguered sigh at her sister. "No friends," she murmured sadly, continuing to groom her sisters bright fur. She dearly loved her sister with her vibrant fur and usually almost carefree ways. "Not yet, anyway."
Grumbling softly, she nuzzled her head under her sister's chin. She wasn't sure what had caused this unrest in her sister's heart, but she didn't like it. "You make friends?" Her voice was light. She hoped her sister had; Chacha was so outgoing and boisterous, and it made Koko's heart ache that she was so down.

"No," Kichaa said, a small little sigh escaping her muzzle. It was hard making friends when most of the girls were in their dens getting lessons from their mothers (which she should also be doing, but never took an interest in) and all the boys treat you like you're a foreign object and won't play with you like your brother did.
"Chacha met a lots of people, but none wanted to be Chacha's friend. Is it because Chacha's so red?" She asked, peeking down at her sister's mud colored coat below her. Koko always acted like such a good Banu, even at this age, Kichaa never understood it. Why would anyone want to be so compliant? It didn't exactly sound like that going through Kichaa's head, but she never understood it. Didn't they want to be other things?

Koko snorted at her sister, shaking her head. "No! Chacha's fur is so pretty. Not brown, or blue, or green. But RED!" Koko ran an admiring paw across Chacha's back. "Only Chacha is so red. It's nice." And it was. Koko hoped her sister understood how wonderful it was to be different, to not look almost identical to their mother. Koko was the only cub who took after Amara the most, and she resented it at times. Egemon had his freckles, Ric had his pink and his nose, and Chacha.. had her beautiful red fur. "Like sunshine before it goes to bed," she murmured.

"Like when the sunshine meets the ground?" Kichaa said, giving off a small smile and nuzzling her sister to comfort her. She could only imagine how frustrating it was to look like their mother. Kichaa loved her mother, there was no doubt, but she did not like that her mother chose this place with these people. Kichaa wasn't a fool by any means, even if she acted simple sometimes. She knew Kwea hit her and she didn't want Kwea hitting her sister just because she may look like her mother.
"I sometimes wanna follow the sun when it goes down," Kichaa said, looking out over the horizon with a wistful expression on her face. "I wanna follow it to wherever it hides, and see all the things it touches..."
