Making Conversation [Aberforth and Ethi]

What to do, what to do? Aberforth had already practiced his hunting skills for the day. He’d been working very hard of late to make himself a proficient hunter. So he could actually be useful in the pride. More than that, though, he wanted to feel like he could actually master some kind of skill. So far, things seemed to be going well. Perhaps you didn’t have to learn hunting as a kid in order to manage it decently later in life. Though, he probably would have liked learning how to hunt back then…

Sighing softly, Aberforth looked over his shoulder, taking a peek down his body to see if anything needed cleaning. Spotting his tail, he frowned. Was there dirt there? Turning himself, he tried to bring his tail around so he could lick it, flopping onto the floor and taking hold of it with one large paw. Licking the fluff, he cleaned a small spec of dirt from the long fur, getting himself back to his feet once it was mission accomplished.

To find that he had flopped over in a particularly dusty area- the whole side of his body coated in dirt. “Oh… darn,” he muttered to himself, moving to get himself to one of the pride’s water holes.

That was a dumb thing to do!

Ethi, like Aberforth, was learning to hunt. Unlike him, she wasn't done for the day. She was currently chasing a gazelle. Something she was usually good enough at catching, since she was quick, and they were fortunately weak enough for her to actually take down. Unfortunately, it had a head start and she was running on another failed attempt. She was pretty focused on her hunt, so she didn't even notice Aberforth.

... Well, she would soon enough, as she made a desperate leap for the antelope. And missed. And flopped onto the floor, maybe a few yards away from him. Since she had just landed harshly on the floor, Ethi was left staring angrily at the fleeing gazelle for a few moments before Aberforth caught her eye.

And now she was embarrassed.

"Uh. Hi? "

Aberforth was quite surprised to see a female suddenly slam into the dirt not far from where he had been standing. If he hadn’t known better, he might have thought she was trying to attack him- but luckily he had managed to notice the smaller prey beast fleeing from the both of them.

A meal escaped, but that was fine as far as he was concerned- he was more worried about the female who had landed nearby, anyway. Tilting his head to one side, he took a couple steps forward, lowering his ears as he watched the lady.

“Hello,” he replied, rather embarrassed himself, if only because he still wasn’t clean, his white fur coated in gray on one side of his body. Maybe they would both be so worried about their own embarrassment, they wouldn’t make any comments on one another’s. Still, there was one thing he felt he needed to ask, if only because he wouldn’t feel right saying absolutely nothing at all.

“Are you alright? That looked a little painful…”
