I really don't understand all the hype ver copper washed steel jacketed bullets... That's not copper washed steel, that's steel core. They were pitting the armor-steel plates I use as targets, and I had to start shooting them at other things.

Meh, I shoot paper so it doesn't bother me at all in fact all it means is that i have steel-cored ammo in case I need it.

it's cheap because it's corrosive,lol

make sure you clean the hell out of your rifles after every range session with any corrosive ammo

Indeed. The Russians tend to use cheap sulfur in their ammo, leading to the worst corrosion in their weapons. But since their pistols and rifles are so cheap, they don't give a rat's a**.

I tend to clean like crazy once I put my guns down for the day, so I'm not worried. As long as I clean the barrel and lube the action, I know my gun will work perfect and for years to come.

yep. one of the downsides of an ak74. (i know wolf makes 5.45 non corrosive but 7N6 corrosive surplus is way cheaper)

its kind of an exchange for having the cheapest ammo money can buy to shoot from a decent rifle.

but damn its cheap. im paying 11 cents a round.

$239.90 for a wooden crate of 2160 rounds.... 2 tins of 1080
has russian writing and junk on the outside of it,I plan on using the empty crates for storing vodka in. lol

I wouldn't use corrosive in a gas action, and I'd be wary to use it in blowback. You can boil a barrel, but it's hard to boil the entire gun. That's why I didn't mind firing 1946 surplus through the Enfield.

im sorry but that sounds like a huge contradiction

the ak series was originally designed to shoot nothing but corrosive ammo.
so were SKS's, SVD's,PSL's and SVT40's....

even M1 garands fired corrosive ammo. the US switched from using corrosive in military ammo in the mid 50's

note that they're all gas actions

the PPSH41 PPS43, TT33, CZ52, and Makarov fire corrosive ammo also, those are all blowbacks

also everything that was chambered for the corrosive 8mm mauser round was subjected to it as well, including the MG42 MG34, Gewehr41, and the huge series of bolt actions and other rifles chambered for the mauser cartridge...

most countries used corrosive back then and many still use it,
and I dont think any of them were worried about boiling a barrel by using it in their machineguns. that threat is nonexistent

its just a plus nowadays that the convenience of non corrosive ammo is more available for some weapons

the only harm it really poses is making it rust fast

BreakFree CLP (The only thing I use) eliminates the corrosive salts, and so do glass cleaners with ammonia. I wouldn't want to fire any corrosive rounds through my AR because I'd rather not try to clean the gas tube, but for AK's and anything piston operated I really wouldn't think twice about it.
