When I heard about a victory mosque being built at Ground Zero at the WTC, I was outraged. It is an insult to America to have people that attacked us building a victory monument at a place where 3000 of our citizens were killed.

But remember, it is called a "cultural center". Yes, I think it is a bunch of b.s. too. It is a total slap in the face to this country. There are Muslims who agree that it is a horrible idea but the guy in charge seems to have different loyalities than them.

so because a few crazy muslims killed a measly 3000 people you get up in arms.... Ever heard of the crusades... Way more violent then the death toll from this war.... yet the muslims dont complain about a few churches in their holy lands... Just some food for thought

Yes I have heard the Crusades arguement.

But, think on this. The Saracens had conquered 2/3rds of Christendom by the time the 1st Crusade began. And they made it law to butcher Christians. Christians were forbidden from killing innocents...they still did, and where hanged for it.

That aside. Look at the sacred nature of Ground Zero. The mosque culture center, whatever it is...is being put in the wrong place.

The loss of one innocent human being to a senseless crime isn't measly, so the loss of 3000 sure ain't. As for the crusades, who owned that territory before the crusades? That would be Christians. It was taken from them by muslims. Christians fought the crusades to take it back. And yes, muslims due complain about churches on their holy lands. Did you know it is illegal to build a church in Mecca? In fact, non-muslims aren't even legally allowed in the city.

So no, muslims do complain about churches.

I don't want a mosque near ground zero, it is an insult to the American people and a slap in the face to our freedom. I don't care if it is a "religious right" but they are the people who murdered 3000 lives.

You're comparing things as if one is pointless and the other has meaning. Let's say your parents died, but your friend's parents AND his siblings AND eight of his friends all died. Does that mean that your loss is meaningless? It's certainly not AS bad, I'll grant you that, but it just isn't right to say that the loss of your parents doesn't even matter.

Besides, the argument is not whether or not the number of casualties was "measly", it's whether or not it's appropriate for us to allow this religion- the very religion that drove the terrorists to bomb the building- to build a holy place at the same site. I'm not prejudiced against Muslims, I'm not anti-Muslim by any definition; I realize the terrorists are an extremist group which few Muslims actually support. I simply think the time and place is HUGELY inappropriate. Tactless, to say the very least.

We should build a monument to honor those lost in the tragedy, not a monument to celebrate their deaths. No matter how you look at it, this is just wrong.

Sometimes I wonder if the Liberals really just want to spit in our faces, there's just no other thought process that could possibly justify doing something so terrible. I usually credit them with having good intentions and ways of achieving them with which I disagree, but this time it seems like they lack even good intentions. I don't understand it, not one bit.

Exactly. This is sacred American ground. It should honor the victims who hallowed it.

look I think the fact that there is going to be a mosque near ground zero and here's why

1 the imam is corrupt and is being funded by terror organizations

2 there are Meany super mosques up town where people actually live

3 there is no reason that they need a mosque in the center of commercial area

1. It's not at ground zero. It's a few blocks away from it.
2. It is a Muslim community centre. Meaning it will be near the Muslim community. It does, however, have prayer rooms.
3. Not all Muslims are responsible for 9/11. I have German friends, and I'm not dragging them to Nuremburg for the Holocaust.
4. Muslim Americans died in 9/11.
5. Those building the mosque have had the zoning rights for TWO YEARS and nobody said anything.
6. THERE IS ALREADY A MOSQUE FOUR BLOCKS FROM GROUND ZERO. It's called Masjid Manhattan and has been there for FORTY YEARS.

This is a non-issue that politicians are using to try and slander their opponents during an election year.

1. That is not the problem.

2. That makes it a place of worship so therefore it is considered a mosque by any standards set by buildings of worship legal statures.

3. That is also not the problem.

4. The entire attack was set to give a warning to all none Muslims that they will die if they to not converge.

5. City volunteers, Unions (Which shocks the crap out of me), even less confrontational Muslims shows no one is going to help build or even endorse in this unnecessary construction. And furthermore, people have been fighting it SINCE its two year zoning achievement and it is only now they try to push it through because they thought people wouldn't pay attention to it.

6. Wonderful. I think many informed watchers already know of this and guess what? They haven't said a thing about it until now. Why? Because it was there before this attack happened and therefore is not seen as a statement that glorifies the deaths of innocent lives. Intentionally building a mosque in honor of 9/11 is repugnant. Simple fact, none argumentative.

I personally don’t have a problem with the mosque a few blocks away being there aside from my Christian beliefs but I am tolerant of different opinions and would neither be happy or sad if it stayed or was taken down. If they need a bigger place of worship then renovate the already present mosque.

And furthermore, this isn’t even religious. xD I don’t know why everyone perceives this as radical Christians trying to press hate on people who had nothing to do with the attack. It’s not even about Muslims. It’s about the fact that I don’t see Pearl Harbor making a Memoir for the Japanese who bombed it. I don’t see Poland making any monument on behalf of the Germans.

Why? Because.they.attacked.there.

That’s the biggest reason for me. Why would I want something built that has anything to do with the radical murderers who slaughtered my fellow Americans. It was done by radical, Islamic, terrorists, who by the way, quite obviously do not believe in religious freedom. Why must it be a mosque? Why? If it’s religious freedom then fine, let us build a church in Saudi Arabia. xD Please, like they’ll be as ‘tolerant’ as liberals are. I don’t have a problem against Muslims and I do not want any of them dead. I just don’t want what would be seen as a spit in the face to the families and friends of those who were murdered. None of the families want it and I personally hope to God they do not build this or it will tear the nation apart even further.

Even Obama endorses in the building of the mosque. He is beyond thoughtless. He’s more stupid then what I gave him credit for. He shouldn’t have stuck his nose where he had no business making a comment on it any ways. Really, I’m simply defending how polls show that the majority of Americans and New York State residents oppose the mosque. There’s a very simple reason why it’s not on a ballot, because then it would’ve been shot down so fast on the first day, they supporters of the mosque would not have had time to show their support.

It’s not about the damn religious freedom or political adversary. It’s DECENCY. Its sensitivity to the families that had their family members torn apart by people who did it all in the name of Islam.

That should be enough of a reason to stop causing such hatred. I don’t accuse all Muslims of being hateful and disgusting, but I put the feelings of my fellow Americans above ‘religious freedom’.

I personaly disagree with the building of the masque, but not for religous reasons. Infact, I would be against a christain church being built there. There should be a monument to honor the lives of the fallen.

But back to what I was saying, I ask the question, What did the musilms do after they conruered Jerusalem? They destroyed the Jewish temple, and built their masque over the site. What are they doing with America? They attacked us and are now building a mosque as close as they can to the site. I am not acusing anything, just some food for thought.

Ontop of that, it is insensitive. 9/11 was a terrible tragedy, and many lost their lives. I wouldn't be for rebuilding anyting on or near ground zero if it wasn't dedicated to those who lost their lives, and all citizens where invited/encuraged to visit.

All of this said, I don't want Obama or any other government official telling someone they can't build a building. So government needs to stay out of this.
