Sham'a The lioness stepped out from her den, fighting off another long yawn. She had finally been named a hunter after months of training alongside her assigned master. While she hadn't proven herself as the most capable leader to a hunting party, she decided she'd force her way to the top of her rank. Yes, she was a hunter, but she'd be the best if she had any say on it. She paused to stretch her long, sleek body out just a few paces from the mouth of her cave. Her spine gave a series of pops. Finally...the knot she'd worked up in her sleep had been dealt with. She gave her front paws a few more licks, smoothing the fur back into place, and took a slow look around. Now...she needed a party. If she was going to be a leader she had to act like one. More importantly- she had to look like one. Not that any of the other new hunters would know that she'd not been personally asked to take charge of that afternoon's hunt. She scanned the surrounding sands. The soldiers were out training and patrolling. She could vaguely make out Ali-Baba's bright form sharpening his claws on an old fallen tree. Long dead and scorched by the desert sun. Twisting her lips, she scanned over the sleeping hunters nearby. Smirking, the female prowled over to a large, snoring male dozing in the sand with only a small shrub over his face to shield him from the sun. Khurshid, one of the younger hunters that had trained alongside of her. For some reason, the male had little to no self-confidence. Not that her constant teasing and Ali-Baba's brash nature had anything to do with that... She brought her paw down and gave him a rough smack to the ribs. Khurshid woke with a loud snort and flailed his paws around in front of his face. Resisting the urge to snerk at the helpless, confused look on the male's face, Sham'a jerked her chin towards the boarder. "Get up. We're going hunting."
Khurshid: "Hunting...?" He groaned, blinking the sleep from his eyes as he slowly rolled over onto his belly. After a long yawn and a groggy look around, Khurshid faced the abrasive female with a sneer. "It's barely sunset!" The female raised her paw again, earning a cringing gasp from the male. "Alright alright! I'm up, hunting it is!" Sham'a: "Good. Now we need one more. Where are your siblings?" Khurshid: "Th...they're...they're all...uh..." He lifted himself up to a sit and stretched into his shoulders. Unfortunately for him, the knot lingering in the center of his spine lingered. He needed someone else... right. A hunting party of two likely wouldn't bring back enough to feed their superiors... "Uh...what about that guy? He's new..." He pointed over to another male nearby. Bright red- but an outsider regardless. He'd not gotten to know the newcomer but he'd do. At least it would be fresh meat for Sham'a to sink her vindictive claws into.

Tanuri: Tanuri was a fairly independant lion, sure. He could keep himself amused--stay quiet by himself with no trouble at all, with or without entertainment of some kind. He could stare at a wall for an hour with no complaint if he had to. Or heck, even if he didn't have to. But this day was strangely different. Sun blazing down on the sands and over his vivid red coat, Tanu realized something. He was bored. Muscles pulling and tugging at his mind in an attempt to coax him into a physical activity of some kind, the Firekin male curled his upper lip into a sneer and jumped to his feet, immediately beginning to pace as if by accident. He watched his own legs with an odd sort of irritation as he moved about, back and forth, back and forth through the sand. Things had been strange ever since that incident happened. People were keeping their heads low, glares in their eyes. It was strange. But worst of all, it was boring for Tanuri. He wasn't very new to the pride, but fairly new in his own right. This little fact seemed to keep the male at a constant distance from the other members of the pride--members he had gotten to know, and some that were still strangers to him. So Tanu paced. Maybe if he paced long enough, something would happen? Or not...ughhh.

Sham’a: She lifted her head and squinted against the sunlight, eyes scanning the terrain in the direction that Khurshid had indicated. After a moment she drew in a short breath and shot a nasty glare over to her darker companion. “Oh you can’t be serious! He’s…he’s an outsider! Finar-Si only knows where he came from! He could be related to anything or anyone! What if he-”
Khurshid: “Well he won’t make you look bad then will he, fearless leader of the hunt?” He countered with a dry smirk. Something passed over Sham’a’s eyes, recognition perhaps? No…she was thinking. Good for her. While the lioness wasn’t dim-witted by anyone’s standards, like much of her family she was a claw first, ask questions later sort. Ali Baba was one of the exceptions to the rule. He and Kenna seemed to have a wit as sharp as their claws. Though…Ali had an ego that sometimes blinded him.
Either way, a new comer would definitely work to his advantage. If Sham’a wasn’t so focused on him being a clumsy, awkward hunter then perhaps he might have a decent time for once.
Sham’a: “…Alright fine. We’ll take him.” The female threw her head up and took a few paces forward. She paused, noting that Khurshid hadn’t moved yet. He was scratching lazily at one of his ears, sending loose fur up into the air around him.
“We don’t have all night!” She snapped, earning a yelp from the male. Getting to his paws, Khurshid was right behind her.
With a snort, Sham’a continued forward, her chin held high. They approached the male at a comfortable pace though she kept a royal air about her. Khurshid just rolled his eyes behind her. “You there! Yes you, newcomer. You will join us on a hunt today.”

Tanuri: So busy in his pacing and angry inner-growling, Tanu only noticed the approaching male after he had begun to speak. With a start, the blazing-red "newcomer" spun around to face the source of the voice. "WHAT," he shouted instinctively, not immediately registering the words the male had spoken. He blinked, eyes taking in the new face. Him? Join those two on a hunt? WELL, the bulky brute certainly had a way of ordering people around, didn't he? Hiding his inner sneer, Tanu stretched his neck to stare just behind his "fellow" Firekin male, finding the face of a female behind him. Hmm...whatever. At least it would be something to do. Tanu relaxed his stance once more, blue gaze filtered through his red bangs. "Fine. Let's go." he said stiffly.

Sham'a: "Good." Sham'a jerked her chin towards the male behind her. Khurshid only offered a shrug in response to the whole situation. Really, there was just no explaining Sham to anyone. She just...was. "Now I'mn the head huntress of this operation. I don't like my hunters dragging their paws or tripping over themselves. I don't know how you do things where you come from but here you follow orders without question." Without waiting for a response, she trudged forward, her chest swollen with pride. That's right, she had her own hunting party. Khurshid: Khurshid contained a snerk behind a fake cough and bobbed his shoulders again. Right...follow orders and all that. Who died and made her queen?

Tanuri: Tanu's lower jaw gave a slight quiver, though his eyes didn't show anything out of the ordinary as far as emotion went. He lowered his head as he walked forward, behind both the male and female "elite hunters" or whatever the hell they considered themselves. But you know, it didn't matter. Who even cared? It was an activity. Besides, Tanuri loved to hunt. So it was a win-win situation, wasn't it? He'd just go along with it. ...But noooo, the red male's mouth just couldn't leave it at that... "Really..." Tanu murmured thoughtfully, eyes glancing to the left, as if he were still bored. "And here I was thinking equal teamwork was the best plan for a hunting party."

Sham'a "Of course not." Sham'a glanced back, eyes wide, and her tone sharp. It was as if the male had reached out and slapped her across the face. Equality!? If the gods had meant for all lions to be equal in stature, profession, or whatever else they wouldn't have created the firekin! Duh. "You need a good leader and obedient followers. That's the key to sucess. Anything else gets clumsy and unorganized... sheesh..."
Khurshid: Khurshid badly wanted to agree with the other male. He had a point, if they all worked as a unit rather than a group of divided individuals they had a better chance of catching game. However, she was much larger than him and a better fighter. The last time he'd messed with her, she'd sat on his head.

Tanuri: Tanu felt a smirk tug at his maw, but he firmly held it back. Because no sooner had he felt amused than a wave of frustration swept over him. Blue eyes hardening as they stared at the back of the female, Tanu gave a disapproving shrug of his eyebrows and a flick of his tail--seeming uncaring, but inwardly thinking, 'Wow, you are stupid.' Who was this female, anyway? Who did she think she was, the damned Magistrate or something? No, no she wasn't. She wasn't the boss of him. She couldn't force her mindset or opinions on him. She was wrong, anyhow...at least, to him. He had his way of thinking--his way of hunting--and presumably she had hers. Maybe no one could say definitively whose way was the "right" way--whose way was better--but that was a moot point in the matter. The fact was, that fat girl didn't have a right to tell him what to do, nor tell him her way was better. She was annoying, seriously. "Things only get 'clumsy' when certain individuals think they deserve more of a say than others." Tanu said his round-about-stab cooly, still seeming unaffected one way or another.
