Tukutu had tried to get things moving, but he had never been a really motivated hyena. Everything was easier stealing it from someone else. Except, there really was little to steal from others. Baki had gotten him slightly motivated to give it a shot, but to tell the truth there just wasn't much going on. So instead of lying around moping about it, the older hyena decided to go see Baki. Perhaps she had figured something out, or a new idea might have crawled into her head.

He made his way to her skull, probably the neatest one out of them all. Tukutu never bothered to do anything with his, as it was just a place to sleep if he wanted some sort of protection from the elements. She had taken it to a whole different level. Perhaps she'd help give him that kick to get the pack going again. Useless beasts.

She was rather happy with herself and her new home. She didn't get why the rest of the pack seemed so god awfully lazy but at least she'd been able to get a few of them to move on occasion. She was enjoying controlling the junkyard too. There were so many interesting things in there that everyone else just ignored.

"Stupid males." She laughed to herself as she dropped another pelt onto her pile. "They just need a few more good nips ... maybe i should start taking away their beds until they get get off their lazy rumps." Her voice echoed in her home and floated outside easily enough since she hadn't bothered blocking up any of the holes yet.

Tukutu chuckled as he got close enough to hear Baki talking to herself. Scraping the ground out around her skull made it easier for him to announce his arrival without yelling it. Though, that might be fun at certain times, it felt like too much effort at this moment. He snapped his jaws as well, at a fly that wanted to pester him out of his train of thought.

"Ah, Baki," he grumbled, spitting out the taste of said fly. Disgusting. He needed some real meat in him, and not fly juice. "Talking about the scouts again?" he guessed, as they had the least amount to do than anyone else.

She poked her head out of the skull at the sound of someone outside her home and a grin crawled across her muzzle. "Well if it isn't our fearless leader ... thing." She shook her head slightly. Technically Tuku was only the lead male but since she hadn't really bothered to introduce herself to the head of the pack he was as close as she was going to get. Whatever female was at the head couldn't be doing a very good job of it considering the state of things.

"They're lumped in with 'stupid males' usually." She laughed as she headed out of her home. "Are you usually napping this time of day?"

Tukutu's ears swiveled forwards and back, amused. "Thing? I guess so," he grumbled. Indeed, he still didn't really know what he was doing, but whatever. It would work out. It'd have to.

"Ah, well." He paused, thinking. "At least the hunters are finding something. Sort of." He could feel that he was hungry, but didn't want to deal with it right now. Later, he'd go chew someone out to find him something. If it worked or not, he wouldn't know.

"I sleep when I feel like it," he replied, twitching his tail. "Don't matter if the sun is up or down, really."

"Well it's not like i've seen anyone else running things." Her grin stayed perfectly in place. "So you're the leader-thingy for the moment." Packs leaders changed often from what she knew but with how lazy everyone was around here she doubted that anyone was going to actually challenge Tuku for anything. That would mean they'd have to get up and do something.

"Everyone else seems to be sleeping ... not that them sleeping is unusual. They hardly ever get up"

Tuk nodded his head. "Eh, sleepin' is good, but they do like to do it a lot." He sure did, too. Ugh. "Anyway, I was just coming over to ask if you've figured out anymore ideas or anything. To motivate these flea-bags into something!" He really was starting to get frustrated that he couldn't think of anything, besides Mafa being back. But...eh. He'd rather not think about it. Hurt a little.

"I'm failin' at this thing, though I can get a few of 'em to do something here and there. We need more spirit than anything, and no one here's got any." Tukutu never really had any since he was a pup, and so he didn't know the first thing about trying to rally it up.

"That's probably because everyone here is -old-." She laughed, the sound bouncing around behind her in the skull of the dead elephant.

"They've got no reason to do anything. Adults can take care of themselves yes? So why bother getting up and doing anything if you don't want it. No one to take care of ..." She'd thought it odd when she'd had time to think about it that there were no pups about. Usually there were -always- pups

Tuk wrinkled his nose for a moment. He had never had good luck with pups. One. And he as...embarrassing to even thing about. Though he didn't believe in the gods, he had for that moment, just to spit at them for handing him such a failure. His life would have been quite different if things had turned out differently...

"You mean pups?" he said, a slight tone of disgust. "Most of the ones that wanted pups left. I think we had a few running around here not terribly long ago, but I don't pay attention." He paused. That didn't sound good.

"I've never had luck with 'em myself," he added on, a slight clarification. The blame was put on him that the female of the two had died, and Mabozi had lived. That stupid, airheaded pup...

"I don't see what's so unlucky about them. They're suppose to be good for packs right? More members and a reason for everyone to get off their dusty rumps" She nodded knowingly. "Everyone should want some at least once. Or they should be hoping others have them so they have some reason to keep going. If there's no pups then everything dies."

It was a cycle that her mother had instilled in her. One of the few things she'd bothered to listen to. Without life there was only death. "Pups would help. If you could get a male up enough to do anything about it." Her grin turned into a smirk for a moment.

"I have one. Somewhere." Tuk grunted. "A failure, he turned out to be. Not like Mbezi, just... a failure." His tail twitched, as he didn't even like to bring that haunting subject up.

Tuk didn't quite feel embarrassed, but he certainly had a hunch as to why there were such slim numbers of the younger generations. "The few females around must have much higher tastes than what our males have to offer. I'm certain you'd feel the same," he snickered, even if it probably was a sad fact of life out here.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:23 pm

"Really?" She tried not to laugh at that. He seemed like he didn't like bringing up whatever failure pup this was. Probably a product of the pack itself rather than Tuku's own parenting.

"Well ... that's because the whole pack is full of lazy bums. No female would want a mate who can't even be bothered to get up without being bitten first. You're not bad though. At least you get up on your own even if you are lazy."

Tuk cracked a grin. "Maybe, but at least I willingly admit to being lazy." He was always oddly proud of that fact. Some liked to just act like they were good workers when they weren't. "At least you've got me doing a few things, even if it ain't much. Still, things are moving, if really slowly...ya think little brats running around would help?" He wondered if any of the males would really care much.

"Couldn't hurt. Plus whoever the father was would, unless he was just a rat, be motivated to make the others work so his pups would have food and safety." She nodded again. "No sense in bringing your pups up with a bunch of rats. Got to chew on them so they know."

She flicked an ear to get it away from a bug before returning her attention to him. "You're the leader here right. So if -you- had pups around everyone would have to behave. You could make them behave because they're the special pups." Technically they'd be more special if the head female had them but she wasn't sure Tuku really liked her, whoever she was, or she liked him.

Tukutu shrugged. "Maybe. I'm not sure how they'd react to that, but I'd hope it'd go okay." The only one that he'd have to worry about was Mbezi, but even he couldn't be so stupid as to do something against pups. Foolish, but not stupid.

"You sure like the idea of chewing on hyenas," he chuckled. "Sure you'd chew up anyone that'd look at you wrong. Or any pups you might have in the future." Which she must, since she seemed to enjoy discussing it.
