Sand shifted under red and white paws. For a moment, he imagined others waiting, watching, though the dunes were empty around them. The hulking red lion shifted, rotating his shoulders. Wounds from his last spat with the old man had healed, making him ready to begin practicing. That was all this was, in his mind, after all. There was nothing at stake besides his skill level. It could only go up, he presumed. He couldn't See if he would win or not - His visions refused to tell him. All he ever Saw was him and Shula. This was a step towards that vision, one he was willing to take. "Are you ready, Azar...?" Though female, he knew his distant cousin would be a formidable match. While older than her, he knew she still outclassed him yet. Maybe it was the lack of a mane to weigh her down... For a moment he wondered how he'd look without one.

Azar was more then ready for this, recently getting used to being pregnant. She had ten cubs... and well... having all of those plus her determination of wanting to be back in shape and also having all of the cubs around her she was almost always chasing some one around and because of that she could easily get herself back into shape but getting back into shape she couldn't just chase after cubs, she wanted to be able to get used to fighting again. Even though she was still fighting and had been fighting she wanted to get more and more back to the way she was.
She rocked back and forth on on hr paws. She was going back and forth on paws she enjoyed being able to do things like that getting herself into the mind set to start dueling with the male. She looked up at him and arched a brow. "Of course I'm ready, Ladies first." She teased slightly, she had a pretty good humor at times she was flicking her tail around behind her.

The male gave a nod, then started his pacing. Paws moved swiftly over sand, moving with the shifting grains. He slowly circled, gold eyes burning on the dark pelt. So much like his mother and one of his sisters... And a couple of his own children... No, they weren't children anymore, they were adults. He let out a low growl, starting towards the lioness. At the last minute, though, he pulled away, simply moving to bluff.

Azar looked at the male holding herself calm and still. She kept herself very stable and focused. The lioness arched a brow at the male and then stepped back for a moment as she saw the male move her way. she hissed but then she noticed as he moved away. She growled even louder not happy with his choice. She bounded foward again and reached a clawed paw out aiming toward his shoulder.

Kosuke let out a snarl, jumping away from the paw. It was to no avail, though, as he felt the claws meet his flesh. The muscle around the marks twitched and danced for a few minutes, then settled as he did his best to now keep out of Azar's reach. This would not be an easy fight...

Azar snarled at the male and started to circle him Azar made sure to keep things like this quick but one thing was for sure she never wanted to make it easy she hated the idea of making things easy to she did her hardest not to. "Come on. Is that all you got?" She flashed a grin as she spoke.

The male let out a snarl, eyes narrowed at the lioness. He paced around a bit, staring at her, taking in that dark pelt. So black... Not as dark as his mother's, but it still made him... Mad. The taunting didn't help. With a roar, Kosuke lunged at her, feeling a heavy paw make contact. It wasn't much, but it felt good. It felt... Wonderful.

Azar was about to go into a strike herself that was until she felt the heavy paw of the other strike against her side. She couldn't help but to snarl and stumble back but as she did she reached out her own paw trying to get a strike in but she fail missing making her stumbling seem a lot worse. She growled and got her footing back as she glared at themale

He had the upper paw now, and he knew it. The smirk on his maw showed it, making it very clear. Stalking around the dune, gold eyes and red fur danced in the sunlight. "I've got you now, Azar..." He turned, charging at her and hitting her with a paw again. Some part of his mind was equating this between a fight and a game. Perhaps it was Shula's effect on him.

Azar hated the idea of losing things. She really did, she was starting to get angry, she hated it she didn't want to lose, a snarl was curled up on her lips, she tried to avoid the next paw that was coming her way but she couldn't quiet get past it, it slammed against her side again as she hastily leaned forward and tried to slap him back. Missing instead she moved away to tried to get some roomb etween them.

Victory was a taste in his mouth, and Kosuke intended to catch it. Pacing his way around, he crouched for the final strike. As he pushed his paws off the sand, he reached out to hit Azar again... And felt himself sail right past. He looked back, forgetting that he hadn't yet landed, until he found himself tumbling in the sand. Golden grains went flying everywhere, dancing in the sun before showering down upon them. As he slowly rose back to his paws, Kosuke spit sand out, face contorted. He'd become over-confident, he decided. That was why he missed.

As she watched the male she waited for him to hit making a plan based around it she knew what she wanted to do next, she watched him carefully and waited as she saw him miss.As she did she tried to jump forward and attack him back but as his paw missed contact with hers she tripped being caught off gaurd making her miss in return. "Well that was stupid." She laughed before glancing back at him.

Stepping back, Kosuke lifted his head, watching Azar. After a moment, he bowed his head. "I think this duel is done..." Ears flicking, he calculated in his head. "I think... If my count of hits, misses, and the like isn't off... I may have won this round..." His tail flicked, eyes returning to the lioness. "Would you say I'm right, or wrong, and that either way we should meet up for another duel later?"

Azar looked at the male then chuckled slightly nodding in agreement. "Ah I believe you won too." She grinned at the idea looking over at her shoulders looking at the scratches on her arm. She chuckled a little bit before twisting her head around gently to lick some of the blood away. "I'd love to have another duel later on." He flashed a grin at her, the idea really did sound like a lot of fun she had been enjoying dueling. "I have to go check up on my cubs for a little while but later I'll be up for it." she nodded to him. "Same place." She said before she turned around and she started to wander home looking forward to another duel with some one that was a good match for her.
