Hero was sunning himself on a large flat stone far, far away from his family. He did that a lot these days. Why had it taken him so long to notice there was something wrong with Manorama? At first he thought she was just quirky, now he knew better. If he stayed away long enough she would probably forget he was her mate. His children seemed to have inherited her problems, too. That was the worst of it.
No, actually, the worst of it was knowing that he would never see his son again, never have the chance to apologize for the way he treated him, which was probably the reason Chewa ran away.
Lately it seemed Chewa was all he could think about. He used to be the kind of male who would fall in love at first sight with every female he met, love them and leave them and fall in love again with someone new. Now he'd tried commitment and found it a poor fit for him. He still felt fond of Manorama. He still enjoyed her company, when she was lucid. Unfortunately, every time he looked at her he could only feel reminded of the son he lost.
