Faction/Race Ghost/Preta
(Preta are extremely ugly and extremely selfish due to the hunger they can never satisfy. In some weird twist of events, the ghost of a human and the malevolent essence of a Preta became two separate entities conjoined in one form. The Preta side of Tomson has a 'mind' of its own, and can at times influence him as the connection between them strengthens. By this I mean the predatory, instinctual drives of the Preta can affect how Tomson reacts to things. For now, and depending on the future endeavors of Tommy and his tummy, the two act independently from one another. Because of this, Tomson's 'good' personality can be seen just as easily as his 'Preta' one.)

Personality: Personable despite mild shyness, Tomson is one of those boys with 'great influence' and 'kind hearted' written all over him. He is a good boy, and his presence is often a declaration of that being soothing, productive, and relaxed...if not a bit lethargic due to his stomach's incessant need for energy. He fights to keep a cool and collected head, especially in moments of great peril, but is a passionate individual and like many others faced with conflict may act before thinking. And while not necessarily the boldest mediator around, Tomson does tend to interject himself into situations that may not call for him. His desire to keep the peace can become too heavy a burden bared, after all.

But...there are moments when Tomson lashes out irritably. He may come across as uneasy and stressed by an unseen force or completely washed of his happy-go-lucky demeanor due to no apparent reason. This is because he is plagued by an insatiable hunger, and is bound to the gluttonous stomach that, ironically, is within his own. There is no pleasing the ghostly beast that resides within, and it is the reason why his attention-span, patience, and the pleasant individual that he usually appears to be will suffer greatly. Like that of a human suffering from bi-polar disorder, his moods can sway back and forth like a pendulum between his dual personalities. This is made more intense after several days of no sustenance given to the Preta belly. Focus in class can be lost to the need for FEAR and unless the stomach is fed, the change in nature for Tomson will remain. In this sense, the two inevitably become one.

He will more often then not accept invitations to study groups, or initiate them himself. Education is extremely important to Tomson for many reasons. The most important, and perhaps the most obvious, is his desire to learn how to separate himself from the Preta...emotionally and otherwise. Or more likely, if not completely rid of the ghastly thing learn how to tame it.

On an unrelated note, (lololol) Tommy loves girls. He wishes he could be more of a stud, or a great flirt, or all the things that really suave guys are just so he could find someone who was interested in dating him. Seriously dating him. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) is bashfulness and the rooted need to 'court' before taking any serious actions keeps him from actually playing the roll he feels he so desperately needs to.

When not thinking about all of that, he is, in theory, a great boyfriend. Although having never gotten the chance to sweep a woman off her feet, Tomson knows he would do by a girl wonderfully. He IS, after all, pretty old fashion. If only he could get past that initial awkwardness. Stuttering, nervously giggling, and often thrown off by the gurgle of his stomach, Tommy will inevitably ruin his chances at Amityville of dating a girl by becoming more of the ‘best guy friend’ or 'the cutest little brother evar' they could ask for.

Likes: Making friends, gardening, school, girls, computers/internet, books/bookstores, trying new food and cooking, learning, traveling, swimming, sportsmanly competition, some sports, arts and crafts.

Dislikes: Arguments, his stomach, hateful or cocky individuals, bugs, cologne, candy.

Hobbies:
Photography: Having a tempermental torso will not stop Tomson from expressing his creative side! He often tries to see the world in all of its color and beauty, especially in the moments where a picture is least expected, and with the camera he has taken with him to the academy he will showcase all that there is to enjoy. If there is ONE thing he loves to do most, it is this.
Cooking: He is incredibly talented with making delicious meals from scratch. Throw an apron on him, a chefs hat perhaps, and you've got yourself an enthusiastic boil ready and willing to serve up some eye-ball stew!
Sports: He isn't all that interested in sports, however he will play them when given the task to. Tomson is average at best when it comes to football or soccor, but baseball? Boy does he plays the s**t out of that game.
Weight Lifting: Pretty simple. He likes to lift weights, especially when he is frustrated.
Gardening: Tomson only gardens because he has to. It certainly relaxes him, but almost every flower that blooms is immediately tossed the stomach's way for energy digestion.

He also, as a side note, enjoys collecting vintage goods, especially decorated matchbooks.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Tomson enrolls in the academy to understand himself and the belly that refuses to let him live a normal, ghostly life.

FEAR: (The Eye) Energizer His gluttonous stomach, of which has no real cognitive abilities, is the source of his energy-consuming FEAR. Always held ajar, the blue and frothy ectoplasm that seeps over constantly (comparable to saliva) from jagged 'lips' (made from the tear in his stomach) churns about in his belly in a form similar to liquid. In battle (or at feeding time lul), the 'mouth' widens and begins draining enemies of energy, slowing their reflexes considerably in order to fill Tomson with a temporary storage of physical strength. He relies completely on his ability to kick a** with his hands.

Over time he hopes to gain more control over the ectoplasm, as it can form into shapes and grab ahold of objects. Someday it could be used to hold individuals in place while Tomson beats on 'em.

Speaking of shapes...The stomach chooses to create two clawed grips or hands from time to time and randomly thrusts them out to reach for objects in reach. They jut out from the jagged lips sporadically, which themselves bare several long bone-like structures that look like teeth when the 'mouth' is opened wide enough. The Preta stomach only successfully devours energy or FEAR, so the teeth like structures are rendered useless someone goes to punch Tomson in the gut. In the event that a minipet, or a shirt, or any other object is shoved into the mouth/stomach, it will in turn create an uneasy feeling for both the Preta and its host. Most of the time the objects will be 'vomited' up immediately. They will be covered in blue slime, some might have a few scratches, but on the whole they will come out as they went in. All things but FEAR are considered poison for the Petra belly...

Note: Tomson's presence often times drains a room of its lively energy while he is in no control over the Petra side of things. Because of this, he tries his best to use the plants he grows to satisfy the hunger, if only temporarily.

Natural Ability: Neutralizing Smoke Form When under immense pressure or injured severly, to the point of possible 'undeath', Tomson's body undergoes a very radical change. Combusting in blue 'flames' before POOFING into a ball of hazy smoke, he becomes untouchable for several seconds, during which time wounds are not healed and stress is not permanently eliminated; just, sort of 'put on pause'. The only thing preserved is energy, having been gathered over time by recent attacks, prior to Neutralizing. The use of this form is usually to escape a hit that might send him spinning on his heels and flat on his back. In this meditative state, all thoughts and physical necessities seem to vanish from Tomsons concious...however, it does seem to take on a new set of objectives stemming from a very different mind-set. When neutralized, Tomson's stomach has free reign over the direction in which the smoke orb roams, thus sporadic motions, long whisps of smoke curling around anything that moves, and being an all around bother to those surrounding it can lead Tomson to wake up in some pretty strange places. Again, his stomach isn't alive but instinctive, thus it moves the orb only by following what it believes is sustenence.

Tomson can not resort to this natural ability on whim, it is strictly stress-induced. This may change over time as he learns to control his abilities.


Physical Description: Fallout Inspired Tomson is average height, muscular (with da strong arms and the sexy abs and all of that), with defined features. Think Jude Law's chin, nose, and jaw line. Here. You. Go. His hair should be similar to this, (juuuuudeeeee) but with longer side-burns that fade into black near the jaw line. His stomach should be exposed somewhat, so that the strange mouth looking slit can be easily seen. Whether the 'mouth' is only slightly opened, or completely wide-mouthed and hungry is up to you! Just add the blue ectoplasm swirls/claws if you can lawlzlawlz.
Eye Colour: His eyes are cartoonish in appearance, long oval, empty holes in his head. He can blink them and somehow see his surroundings without a problem, but you can stick your finger in there and wiggle it around if you wanted...
Hair Colour/Style: Overall his hair is blond, but his side burns go all the way down his jaw line and should be black in color. He has the 'duck-tail' flip at the front of his head. So cute.
Skin Colour: Light cream/peach. Natural looking.
Clothing Style/Colours:Okay to be honest idek. There definitely has to be a tear in the outfit at the stomach, since those glowey-blue hands/ectoplasm has to seep through hungrily and all. He is old fashioned personality wise, so perhaps his outfit can depict that as well? Here are some idea's but please feel free to go NUTZ:

So Tomson Ache...Where does the name come from?

There isn't much of a history here. Tomson Ache = Stomach ache, just jumbled a bit.

Speaking of history, what is Tomson's?

Luckily ghosts are not aware of their pasts. Due to Tomson's apparent 'separation' from the Preta entity, we can assume that Tommy was a pretty well-off guy who died just before his prime. But seeing how easily the Preta can manipulate it's hosts emotions, one must wonder...

Does he have OCD, ADD, Dyslexia, or any other kind of disorder that might affect every day life?

Yes, Tomson has OCD, but it is by no means severe enough to be noticeable.
IE: Being artistic sometimes means being messy. His dorm, for instance, can be cluttered with art and school supplies however his workspace must remain clean and clear.
IE: He is not particularly worried about what he looks like on a day to day basis, as a whole...but do not mess with his hair, since it is about the only feature he will fuss over protectively.

ADD, not so much although he can show signs of distraction when hungry...but that's sort of different don't you think?

What are some of his hobbies?

Cooking, doodling, photography, weightlifting, and sports are just a few of the major hobbies Tomson enjoys. He also collects vintage goods, such as the decorated matchbooks as stated above and antique furnishings.

What are some skills Tomson excels in more so then others? In other words what would make Tomson 'talented' and an asset to the academy, if only academically?

He works particularly well with electronics, having at the very least a basic knowledge of almost any piece of technology imaginable. He also has a decent grasp of Math and Science, but what he does best with is English, more specifically the creative writing aspect. His passion lies in the extra circular courses LIKE photography and culinary arts. Smaller more recreational skills/talents would be: puzzle completion. (Tomson doesn't always finish everything he starts EXCEPT for these) [more to come]

How exactly does Tomson start his energy-sucking FEAR? Is it emotionally charged, instinctually activated (via 'gut senses'), or...? And for how long can it last?

First: It is a mix of both actually, emotionally charged and instinctual, but with time he will be able to better control these proceeding factors. When in battle the stomach yearns for energy, so the mouth begins to quiver and widen. It may take a while to start up if emotionally he is not drawn into the fight. This would be an example of him trying to find a better solution to the argument, rather than letting go and allowing his stomach to lash out. (this also ensures that the stomach doesn't 'accidently' drain the energy of friends or classmates when at school, but Tomson is pretty good about keeping the gut happy enough to get by a regular school day.) A few blows or choice words are in order to stimulate the stomach and the host, thus Tomson could potentially get the snot beaten out of him before his stomach has time to take a swig. Regardless of what happens to Tomson however, the stomach will continue to widen as soon as hunger begins its craving and will feast on whatever source it can until A) the host wakes up or B) the host dies. In both cases, the stomach snaps shut and will either continue to grumble for more food, only some what satisfied, or it will cave in...in the event that Tomson should undie.

The stomach very rarely 'misses' its target but CAN become disoriented when too many bodies are surrounding it and tire out. If the stomach is fatigued it could underestimate how much energy it needs to satisfy its hunger and could leave the opponent with more energy then it originally planned to.

Secondly: Once things get going, the energy draining effect does not last long at all. Because the stomach can only do so much for Tomson in the heat of battle, it is up to the host to achieve victory using brute force and physical contact AFTER the opponent is weakened...IF the opponent is even weakened.

So the stomach does not think but it can react...are they two separate 'beings' in one body then? Do they argue or fight? How does Tomson feel about his belly? Is he embarrassed by it?

The stomach and the host are, seemingly, two separate beings. The Preta takes the form of a greedy stomach infused with the tormented soul because of what his past must have been like. I suppose you can say they are NOW two very different beings put into one body, but only because the gut represents his ways in his mortal life, where as his ghostly form is a renewed entity all on its own. Being so different however does spark some conflict between himself and...well himself, virtually. Tomson HATES his stomach. HATES HATES it, mostly because it makes him feel so empty. The only time the two seem to get along perfectly is when a fight has broken out and Tomson is really, really mad. Like, really mad. Otherwise he is often flicking, grumbling back at, pinching, and basically abusing the gut in every way he can.

He is not necessarily embarrassed by it physically but can become flustered when the damn thing starts to rumble agitatively.

Does the stomach have a weak spot?

Yeah, if you can get close enough to punch it without one of those ectoplasm claws grabbing ahold of you; then you're in! Be careful though, if the mouth is wide open you may accidently hit the solid bone 'teeth' like edges...which do not break easily and hurt like hell. Who really wants to go sticking their hand in there anyway?...

Annnd the ectoplasm spills...often? If the mouth is always held ajar, how does he keep it from covering his bed in his sleep? Wouldn't that get a little messy?

Luckily for Tomson the ectoplasm seeps out not in its 'liquid' or tangible state, but as a frothy fog like substance which is visible but not messy. Like organs, the ectplasm sticks to the inside of the mouth unless A) the stomach is trying to spit something out or B) he shoves his hand inside...which is not advisable, so rolling around or standing on his head won't USUALLY cause a spill. There are exceptions however...

What's with the random Natural Ability?

Preta's are often seen as balls of smoke by humans, thus I incorporated this into his natural ability. Yes, it seems random, but here is how it would work: Damage is taken over a, hopefully, short amount of time depending upon how long it takes the stomach to open up and start the process. Tomson is pretty tough and can withstand numerous hits before showing signs of falter, so the fight can continue on for as long as he is able to stand. At that point the stomach has fulfilled its hunger and, as is in its nature, refuses to do anything to help...not that it saw eating energy as helping either, but whatever. Several sharp attacks later and Tomson is all but spitting up blue ectoplasm from his nostrils; this is when his natural ability will kick in. Like a safety net, or white blood cells in humans for example, his body begins to recognize the attacks as potentially life threatening and shuts down all functions completely, enveloping him in blue 'ecto-flames' for a brief moment before he is swallowed up by the smoke and is seemingly gone.

This ability can be controlled over time and allow him to disappear into the smokey ball whenever he chooses.



How does he react around other monsters, ghouls, demons, ect?

Friendly, relatively welcoming, calm and cool! Like I've tried to describe in his personality, Tomson is an introvert-extrovert kind of guy--meaning he has his moments of extreme shyness and extreme boldness; all depends on his mood and the moment. Girls are perhaps one of his weaknesses socially, since they seem to rile up the inner boy within him, but as he becomes comfortable around them (which usually does not take long) he tends to open up tremendously. It's always the quiet ones you have to watch out for!

What strange turn of events occurred that caused the Preta to fuse with the human form? I'd like to know more! He's so different from a 'traditional' Preta!

My main thought was that Tomson had some demons in his human life that transferred over. Either he suffered from personality disorders or a rough childhood led him to become a jealous/greedy individual at his time of death. In both instances, the build up of bad 'karma' that Tomson created for himself did not completely consume his ghost, but it did inject itself into his new un-life.

Yet I didn't want to play a character with those traits, or at least not one that displayed them all of the time. So I thought perhaps he wasn't an overly possessive individual at first, but had his darker days. This could be particularly true the closer it came for him to pass. And along the lines of his physical appearance, to be honest I didn't want to create a monster that was similar to the description on Wiki down to the last detail. I wanted to keep the 'essence' of a preta in the form you see on the front page, but I also wanted to keep it open to interpretation for those who might be interested in a full fledged preta ghost character later on down the road.

So I guess we can say that the 'preta', while being 'seen' as an entity all by itself within Tomson, manifested from the part of him that hungered for more in his past life. This could explain why it influences him from time to time, and it could potentially cause some trauma to Tomson himself if he ever learns/theorizes that he is to blame for his own misfortunate in this afterlife. Maybe, instead of learning how to overcome the insatiable hunger he succumbs to it? Or there is a point where he has to choose whether or not to let the hunger pull him down or to control it's drive?

First off I really like his design. XD The concept art reminds me kinda of the pipboy from Fallout.

His personality seems pretty solid to me and I like the touch of flavor he has from collecting vintage things.

Just out of curiosity though, does he have any natural abilities? Or is it just his stomach eating things? XD

Thank you Blade! Fallout's Pipboy (or Vaultboy, whichever people prefer) was what inspired Tomson in the first place! :}

As far as natural abilities, I didn't have anything planned out really. Aside from the stomach eating nonsense, his talents are limited to what he can 'physically' accomplish, which is quite a bit considering his build. I'll think on it a little bit and see. ;3

Added a Natural Ability! Preta's are usually not visible to humans in any form BUT smoke or some sort of light orb, thus I incorporated that into his character build.
