So, which one do you prefer? I myself would choose shounen. But shojo manga get me hooked more easily and that's why I've read a whole bunch of them. Anyway, I often get obsessed with a good shounen. lol I know it's kinda weird ^ ^ sweatdrop

...is there something in between called something?
i can barely tell which ones are shojo and which would be shonen at times O3o...
-as long as i like the characters and the stories, it doesn't really matter to me what else it is O3o
....is yaoi shonen or shojo? i mean, there are those ones with totally unfeminine and bufff guys, so would they count as shonen O3o?
...*shrug* >_<'

Yaoi is its own genre >.> it just doesn't really fit in with either shojo or shonen... so its special smile

Shonen or Shojo... Hmmmmm.... For me it all depends what kind of story do i feel like reading I really like the shonens like bleach or reborn which start out pretty loose and fun then turn action packed and more serious as it progresses!~ But I also just love those Shojo that just make you want to find your own love!~~~~
I would have to say... In m opinion... they are equal smile

.....then why do we only get to pick shojo or shonen D<_?!
there's a whole damn of a lot of yaoi-impliments, if not even yaoi, in shojo-series ....and some shonen ones too O3o!!
so i dun get why it couldn't count >3<'

i think yaio goes with Shojo cause shojo likes to over- umm... exaggerate? yeah it makes people and things look a lot prettier than they are in rl.

Get backers is a shonen, isn't it, people aren't too pretty there =3='
.....and Immortal Rain i think.. is a shojo, but it's got the violence and sillyness of a shonen =3='
and.. and.... angel sanctuary and yami no matsuei both grows into gore and... ...well, though; most shojo manga -at some point depending on their author- usually turns into excessive gore at some point O3o!
proofs of these;
Immortal Rain, Angel Sanctuary (though it was pretty much from the start..), Tsubasa Chronicle... i know there are more, but those are the ones i could instantly remember O3o....
shojo and shonen.... yep, it's pretty weird alltogether -i'd say, they just mix into each other from time to time _xp

lol i guess its just based on what you think each individual book is biggrin unless you want to get really technical and look up what each specific book is ._. i dont have the patience for that... lol

mmnnn, right -you're right there though, i don't have the patience either _|D
but i suppose Fullmetal alchemist and D. gray man are both shonen? those are just awesome ^_^! and i dunnoh, but i feel like the details are quite pretty in there too, but if i don't remember it wrong... Shonen are meant to have more action into them.
....though, i suppose there are those -some- manga you can't say is simply shojo or shonen :3

Both FMA and D.Gray are made by a woman. So they are not COMPLETELY shonen like Naruto or Dragonball but still we can't call them a shojo. Okay, I'm confused now. @^@ I guess shojo/shounen categories actually aren't needed at all people should just read stuff they like.

As long as it has good art and story line then I like it. But I tend to lean towards shonen.

since i read mostly f/f romance, i've been hard-pressed to find some "shoujo" oriented works; it seems to be classified mostly as shounen or seinen. I have come across a few josei lesbian romances though, that were wonderful. i wonder why they stopped making more josei and shoujo yuri...
btw, yaoi would likely be shoujo or josei, seeing as it's primary demographic is women. otherwise they'd call it bara.

Far as I am concerned wouldn't Yaoi/Yuri be like Seinen (adult manga) Shounen is boys manga and Shoujo is girls manga. As for why they got categories is probably because Shoujo and Shonen are aimed at boys/girls respectively but its not like a wall you cant cross.
As for myself I totally love both x3 though I read all kinds of manga /almost) so I guess its just obvious >>
Also I might be wrong but I don't think the genre is decided by the authors genre but more by which magazine its released in and by what kind of story it is? o.o Though I really wana know does the authors genre matter someone tell me Dx
EDIT; blah seinen my a** ignore what I said of yaoi >>

Rider Punch I hate the art in Shoujo. Really surprised ? I always thought Shoujo is as art lot more advanced compared to Shonen which in many cases is bit of mess and simplified of course not in all Shonen series but in some..
