Nawiri'chiwa had decided that she needed a little time to herself. Spending most of her time near the heart of the pride, keeping tabs on those that were ill, making arrangements with the priest and priestesses on ceremonies and last rites, spending time with others in the pride and handling issues and discontent, sometimes the young female needed a break. It wasn't that she didn't love her job, her position, it was one she held with pride. But sometimes it left her feeling drained or spread too thin. So much to do and so little time. . . .

So it was on this afternoon that the grey and black marked lioness decided to take a little time elsewhere. Escaping the demands of her position, she made rounds near the borders and edges of the Kitwana territory. Eva'raja would likely throw a fit if she found out, but Nawiri'chiwa wasn't going to be gone long and she certainly wasn't going to do anything rash. This was her home, an as queen she had every right to investigate the more reclusive areas of the pride herself.

Even if it was just an excuse to ponder life and pretend, for just a little while, that everything was all right. The viziers that remained were pressuring her harder than ever about making a choice and finding a mate. The pride had been without a king for far too long, and it was her duty to choose a new one. There wasn't time for love or courtship, she had to make a choice! But . . . . but who?

Well. . . secretly Nawiri knew her preference, her choice, but she also wanted to be sure he was going to make it. His symptoms had been so severe and had come on so swiftly! She worried that Kiwi'lan might not be strong enough, or . . . or die. But even her own mother had gone through three mates, three different kings. Nawiri knew she cared about the vibrant male, and his loyalty was undoubtedly there. . . but she had to wonder if he felt anything for her at all outside of friendship. Did he . . could he . . .see her as something more than just a queen?

Oh bother. Heaving a heavy sigh, the female followed the borders, pausing now and then to stare out at the horizon and desperately trying to clear her head. It was a world she never knew, a world she couldn't even imagine. But it was a world not meant for the likes of her. The Kitwana'antara was her home, the only world she'd ever know.

It was nice to be out and about again, the still young wanderer padding around the outskirts of a pride he had heard whispers about in his travels, soft - and yet bright - orange eyes watching the borders softly as he enjoyed his little stroll, dark mane flickering in his gaze while he wandered.

Although he truly had come to love the darkness of night, for he learnt from an early stage that the sun had the will to scorch his black pelt when he wandered from his home pride - he figured that there wasn't much he could do in the darkness when it came to confronting whoever lived in this land. Most lions lived by the daylight and soaked in the sunshine - unlike him who had been scorn by it, and wandered by glittering darkness. . .

His thoughts left from his wandering before, shaking his head softly, he looked over at the borderlands he had found himself upon again. The plagued. A pride so far from what he knew - from what he heard. A land where no one had said on who lived and who died. Only fate, and one's immune system running life's course. Romantic lives lived. It made him itch in curiosity, and taking it on himself again, he moved forward, taking some tentative steps in to the pridelands once again, before the soft sound of footfalls stopped him in his tracks again.

Blue tipped tail flashed back and forth as he waited to see who else would have willingly come to be carressed by the afternoon air, the greyed lioness' form came into view, he wandered closer to her line of vision, head down, eyes with hope and curiousity.

"An ear for your thoughts and shoulder for your worries?" he called out, catching the end of her sigh, hoping to open some kind of conversation.

Nawiri'chiwa heard the sound of a voice call out, and she was quickly shaken from her reverie. Perhaps it was foolish of her to believe she might be the only one on the prides borders. Outside of guards and warriors though, she was genuinely surprised to turn towards the voice and not recognize the face. As queen, it was her duty to know all in her pride, and while sometimes it took her awhile to memorize a face, at the moment the numbers were so small it wasn't hard to spot a stranger.

Did he not realize he walked upon their borders? Was he oblivious to the rumor of the plagued lions that lived in this area? Mayb he hadn't heard the rumors. A very small and defensive part of Nawiri wondered if he posed a threat - he was rather big, after all - but he wasn't hiding, he wasn't sneaking, and his words appeared genuine.

Thankfully, the outside borders of the pride were open and welcoming to strangers. It was only at the heart of the pride that was kept separated from those whom weren't members. But out here, even the ill could roam so long as they were careful. Smiling gently at the stranger, Nawiri gave a dip of her head. "Salutations, stranger," she greeted warmly. Perhaps it was foolish of her to be receptive towards strangers, but it was rooted deep in her nature to be welcoming. Until he gave her sign otherwise there was no reason to be cold or cruel. She'd stay alert though, and was aware of his body language and movements. "While I appreciate the kind sentiment, especially to a stranger, I'm afraid I wouldn't be a good hostess if I accepted. And as you are on my home land, it is I who should be welcoming and fussing over you, not the other way around." Her dual toned eyes sparkled with renewed good humor, quickly overshadowing her earlier concerns and worries.
