To tell you the truth, I have lived in obscure countryareas all my life.
I lived in Hawksbury Heights, then Hazelbrook, then we took a biggie to WA and lived in Busselton (Getting bigger, but still country xD ) for 6 months, moved to Capel, moved to Pingelly.

Have you EVER heard of any of those places? xD

Well, when I lived in NSW, I used to go up to Sydney to visit my Nana (Curse that b***h to hell), Pa and my cousins.
I liked the fact that I was around people, and I was small, so I didnt notice the horrid stench that just happens to be ... car fumes.

In year 9 (2 years ago) me and a few class-mates went to Canberra for 6 days.
We landed in Sydney Airport, got our stuff and cought our bus.
(Luke, dude, you were the best bus driver!)
We drove to Canberra (Me and Amy were bushed, Amy fell asleep, and me and Shaun chatted untill I fell asleep too~!) and I liked it.
Sure, there were fumes, but there were also trees for gods sake.

Anyway, on the last day, we spent it in Sydney.
You know, we drove thru Sydney, stopped at the Opera House and the Teachers let us free, free for ... an hour and a half. neutral
Anyway, I had seen the Opera house before, so, that was boring.

I look to find something ... something to look at ... no trees, just seagulls. xD

Later on we took a ferry-ride (Again, been there, done that) and went to the lovely park under the bridge.

When we went back on the plane, I felt ... like crap.
I could hardally breath, it smelt ... so terrible.
When we hit Perth Airport, I almost kissed the carpet. xD

I grumbled all the way back home, about how boring Sydney was.
Canberra was lovely, but ...

Anyway, to the point.
Do you really think City is better than country?
I preferr a Country-city, like Bunbury. I would live there happily for the rest of my life.

I think there is a big difference between City and Country life. But it mostly comes down to what you prefer.

I am a City boy, always have been. Even when I lived on a Dairy farm in Muswelbrook, I longed to be in the city.

I love that smell! I worked for over a month on my uncles dairy farm and loved every second of it! But then again I did start off as the predictable city chick who to this day still refers to herself as urban burban whee . But I grew up with a love of the country and I spent the last two years at Tocal Ag College and had the best time. Now I have mates across the states. But I would love to live in a country town... 3nodding

I like in between. Like Albury xp Not quite a town, not quite a city. Lots of shops and all the rest, but surrounded by lovely bushland and oh so close to the alpine national parks.

I'd hate to live in a real tiny country town... Unless you were a farmer and were always busy, it would be boring as hell. But then I wouldn't really like to live in a big city. There's just too much going on, and it takes too long to get anywhere.

And I agree with Roadkill - the worst thing about being in the city, especially the inner city, is that there just aren't any trees! And when you do see one, it's some imported foriegn thing that just doesn't belong in our country gonk Also, the only birds around are like... pigeons and sparrows. And not the native pigeons either, just plain old european poo birds.

Citys are fun to visit. I just wouldn't want to live there for a long time. But I will probably have to at some point.

Depends on what you want.
I love the city because I love going out, seeing people, dancing in clubs, shopping till you drop, drive in movies, ice skating..etc.
I love the country because of nature, natures good and all, but for me sometimes it gets boring. You need time to get used to the city too, I hatedSydney when I first moved here becuase of the fumes and the rude people and the fast pace society but once I grew used to it I stared to love it.
Srsly, depends on what you want.
I couldn't stand the country now for more than a week, too boring, ntohing to do.

There's certainly a big difference between the city and country, in my opinion. I've lived in Adelaide my whole life, while it's supposed to be a city it's so small it's like a big town. While I like Sydney and Melbourne I'm not sure I could get used to such a busy lifestyle. I think I'll stay where I am for now, unless I have to move for job prospects in the future.

Well, I've had a half and half life. I lved 9 years on the Gold Coast and 9 years in the Rural town of Ballina.
Now I can say I have a pretty good perspective on both.
All I can really say is that I enjoyed the city because of the closeness of everything. I'm currently holidaying in Melbourne and I really do enjoy the closeness of all the shops and events. Sure I'm staying in a central part of the City, but it still makes me feel welcome. It's that good public transport that I really enjoy, it makes life fun as far as I'm concerned.
Also, since I enjoy a bit of a shop, it's nice to see all the stores open for longer than 9 hours a day as I have experienced at my current home town, and I can't stress the amount I love specialty stores you just don't get them in the rural areas.

As for the country, I like the space, the room to move. I like my loud music, and I dislike the noise pollution you get in the citys. I wish I had the best of both worlds. Brisbane's a tad like that I think, it'll be good.

Well I dunno really. I would hate to live in a real country town in the outback, cause like you guys said it's be boring. But i'd also hate to live in like the acutal City area (talkin' about Sydney by the way lol), cause it's just too.... yeah lol. And well I dunno what Penrith is, apparently it's considered City but Iono really lol. Well I think it is, but liek ages ago it used by Country until it got pretty big or somsethng lol. Yeah and i'm not saying I hate going to the City or anything, it's still fun and crap going out and all but if I were to like live there and stuff, just wouldn't be my thing.

The only advantage I have ever seen to living in Major cities
is teh avaliability of specialist services.
When I needed specialist medical treatment I had to go to the city, if I want to see theatre I usually have to go to the city, and when I see ads fro free stuff in the Sunday papers, it is often only for cities.

If I did not have to go to the cities for these things, I would not really see any reason too.

Australia's spread of Cities is very strange, we have a few VERY BIG cities (compared ot population size) if you look at Europe they have a lot more smaller cities spread out.

WE should be shipping people out of Sdney and into Armidale, Bathurst and places like that, Sydney is WAY TOO BIG (here endeth the rant)

Australia's rediculous ubanisation levels are a bad thing. It just mades providing water for all the people that much more difficult, which is a problem being raised here in Melbourne at the moment.

I was born in Melboure, and I've lived all of one year here. That one year I lived in Horsham, which is small, but not as small as some.

Even though I live in the city, I think I've had enough experience in country towns, as most of my paternal family lives there. If we're talking about extremes (from city centre to pop. 500) I'd rather live in the city centre. I live in the suburbs, and to be honest I don't think it's that far removed from an avrage rural life. The difference is, it stretches on forever, and there are more close by services.

I like towns, to get away from a city, but I don't think I could live in something small. I wouldn't mind living somewhere in between, like Ballarat, or somewhere near the alps.
