Save Modmas!
A Role-play Extravaganza

The Story
'Twas a dark and snowy winter night. Gambino paced back and forth in front of his mantel, a warm, fiery glow lighting his face. "The Mods are gathering, Sir. They're coming from near and far, bringing gifts of gold and items. The citizens are all cheering and lining the streets. It's an all-out celebration," Gambino's faithful Labtech 1337 reported. "NO!" bellowed Gambino into the hearth of the fireplace, causing sparks and embers to shoot forth. "This cannot happen. Not again! The words on the lips of every Gaian last year were "Modmas this" and "Modmas that"! Not a word was mentioned about me, the richest and most powerful figure in all of Gaia. . .I will not stand for this. I will not allow them to forget me. They will all see that this Modmas is nothing but a hoax and that I, Johnny K. Gambino, am their true friend." With fire dancing in his eyes, Gambino spoke once more. "We will crush Modmas and all those foolish enough to try and make me insignificant. . .Assemble everyone. . .We attack at dawn.."

Disclaimer: This does not follow the actual Gaia storyline in any way. I am merely using figures from Gaia fiction. This does not represent any hint or leak of future storylines. . . at least not that I'm aware of.

Your Mission
Fight Gambino and his minions and save Modmas from being destroyed!

How To Join
To be eligible for prizes and participation, you MUST join the Save Modmas! guild and create a thread. A link to the guild is here. If you do not do this, you will NOT be considered for any prize. Please do not send me anymore PMs. Your entries may be lost if you continue to do so!

The Game
You will each be fighting three tiers of enemies individually. Only the first tier is unlocked at the beginning; the others will be unlocked as the event progresses.
You may fight the same enemy multiple times if you wish.
You MUST defeat the lower tier enemy at least once before you can fight an enemy from the next tier.
The first three individuals to defeat all the tiers will find themselves in possession of vast riches.
Prizes will be given out for best role-play style, most dedicated, most defeats of a specific enemy, and more.

The Enemies
Tier 1 - Grunnies
User Image
These furry little creatures may seem cute at first, but don't let that fool you. They've been made specifically for attacking anything they see. They're ferocious and hungry, and they're only the beginning of things. . .
AC - 10
HP - 40

Tier 2 - Labtechs
User Image
Due to years of experiments gone horribly wrong, these labtechs have become virtual supersoliders. Their incredible physique is only rivaled by their pursuit of new test subjects.
AC - 12
HP - 60

Tier 3 - Gambino
User Image
Johnny Freaking K. Gambino, the very man himself. A bitter and selfish rage has engulfed his mind and soul, transforming him into a depraved and empty shell of his once glorious self. The only thing standing between him and the complete destruction of Modmas? You. . .
AC - 16
HP - 70

The soft crinkle of snow compacting underneath her bare feet, seemed to echo throughout the silent forest. A young girl, with pale skin that made her nearly blend in with the glistening snow surrounding her, stepped quickly, as if running from someone. Which, in fact, she was. Her face, beautiful in it's own right, was known throughout the Kingdom of Frost. Though she left when her father, ruler of Frost, was in a meeting, she could not be sure when her escape would be realized. All the population of the icy lands would be ordered to search for her. Though she was by all means running away, she had every intention of returning. The icy lands of her birth was where a Snow Princess like her belonged. Still, curiosity feed her as she neared the edge of her lands. Those adjacent were her goal. Never having been to the world of Gaia, she had only her father's favorable reviews to go on. But words of sunlight glistening, peace everywhere, were intriguing enough for her to decide to go there herself.

The moment she crossed into the lands, everything changed. The sun started to beam down upon her, making her entirety shimmer. Beneath her bare feet was plush grass, which was sprinkled with a tinge of frost in every step. Still, she felt it was beautiful. With a great laugh, she broke into a run, letting herself spin in circles. A trail of frost followed her dance, as she laughed up at the sun. In the distance, she could see a great wall that was probably of a village. There would be her first stop. Practically skipping the entire way, she reached the gates fairly quickly, though she enjoyed herself too much to realize the passing of time.

Nearing the gates, her sensitive ears picked up a great commotion inside. It was loud enough to make her hesitate at them. They were cracked, as if someone had accidentally left them open, leaving quickly to attend to something much more important. Just then this green figure hopped quietly outside of the gates, as if it heard the newcomer. Though the color threw her off, she realized it was just a hare. A smile crossed her face, as she knelt down before it, offering her hand. She kept her distance simply out of respect than fear.

Happening faster than she could think, the little green bunny lunged at her neck. With a scream she stumbled backwards onto her bottom, throwing a snowball, quickly summoned in her hand, at the now enemy. From her startled state, she failed to hit the green bunny, but at least distracted it enough for her to stand, continuing to back up away from it. She knew better than to simply hold still, but started moving side to side, providing apt space for the little creature to flee through.

In her own lands, she was known for her contact and connection with its animals. Many she could understand their language, while others she simply knew. With this creature being her first encounter in Gaia, she was utterly confused. How could her father consider these lands peaceful when mere rabbits attack for no reason? There was the chance that this creature was rare. A mutant of the traditional rabbit. Perhaps this poor creature was poisoned or ill; thus begging for death.

The two of them were trying a strange dance. With the grunny lunging forward, while on her quick toes, the princess skipped out of the way. She wasn't fast enough many times, as it bit into her furry cloak, not managing a sufficient bite. Finally she flung her cape up, letting it fall onto the ground nearby smooth and perfect against the grace. This continued, she while she pondered, then came to a decision. She stopped suddenly enough to startle the bunny, inhaling deeply. If this creature was in pain, she could only give it release, as she could not heal him herself. Though she was well trained with her ice abilities, she had never taken a life before. Wanting to get the ordeal over as quickly as possible, she summoned her strongest spell: diamond dust. A pillar of ice rose around the green creature, with the rise of her hand. Then flicking it harshly towards the rabbit, spikes of ice sliced through the pillar, shattering it. The attack did almost its full damage possible. But much to her disappointment and horror, it did not free the being. In her naivety, she did not realize that her strongest attack would only take half of the creature's health. It was much stronger than she could possibly imagine. It was going to take time for her to recover her strength. With a charged lunged, from the bloodied creature, once more the dance began, her dodging it's now frenzied lunges, having to wait for her power to regenerate. With each step and hop of hers, a icy spot formed on the sharp grass needles, pressing them into her soft feet. This was merged with streams of blood from each attack of the green bunny, making the icy platforms slick. She knew she had to be more careful with her footing, for she was much more likely to fall, than the rabbit. Silently she thanked the gods her cloak was to the side, clean and safe from the mess they were creating.

As the dodging dance continued, her body was slowly tiring. She wasn't one for activity, as it was improper for a princess to be, so her body wasn't prepared for such desperate times. The most she’d run in her life was when she was late for a meeting or affair of the state. Still, it performed beautifully, keeping her safe from the seemingly tireless green bunny. Perhaps she could use grunny as an abbreviation. The creature seemed to have no care of its own energy or health as it spewed blood everywhere. Most rabbits would have run away at the first chance provided. Since this one stayed, she couldn't help but let it strengthen her belief that this one was ill or injured in some place she could not see. Perhaps this sickness is what made the creature green, she was not sure, but she definitely needed to end his suffering. The very thought of taking another’s life still sickened her, but she promised the ill being not to back down. She knew she couldn’t live him half dead; it would be crueler than to have run away in the first place. No, she was given a duty today, and was going to see it through.

Her magic recovered quickly, with the boost of adrenaline from the frightening situation as well as her physical activity. As it returned to its heightened state, she felt her body strengthen once more. Not wanting to use all of her power again in one attack, she summoned her snowball once more. It looked like an average snowball, but deep inside was a sphere of ice, causing more damage than one would expect. Throwing it with a swing of her arm, the princess's aim was perfect, critically damaging the grunny. The ball hit its side, shoving him sideways with its force. Almost immediately the crystal clear snow started to bleed red , until every piece touching him flared scarlet. With a shudder she hoped, next time she'd be able to end its suffering.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As the fight continued, it became clear the princess was tiring. With every lunge, she hesitated a second longer before jumping out of the way. The grunny kept grower nearer. If through strategy or pure luck, the princess didn't know, but the little creature started attacking lower down her body. This took her off guard, breaking the pattern of the dance. A swipe at her legs, knocked her off her feet. She screamed, landing on the hard, yet soaked with blood and melting ice, ground. She winced, as the impact shuddered throughout her body. But she didn't have time to worry about it, the grunny didn't stop attacking. In a desperate defense, she kicked out hard, her barefoot meeting with the rough sticky fur of the animal. The attack caught the grunny off guard, sending it flying into the gate. Though it caused barely any damage, the collision stunned the little rabbit, and it laid there for a few moments. She wasted no time getting to her feet, summoning a defensive shield around her. Her skin glistened in the sun as frost grew on every surface of her body. Once it was done, she had a thin layer of protection between her and the rabbit. Hopefully it would be enough to keep any of her blood from joining the mix.

Instinctively, she could tell the vicious creature was not yet dead and knew not to approach it yet. Swallowing deeply, and trying to ignore the gore at her feet, the Princess silently prayed that the rest of the battle would end easily. Though she knew better than to expect it. She’d watched the guard train, and knew their main mantra was to always be ready for the enemy’s attack. Crouching into a semi awkward fighting stance, she prepared herself for her next attack.

As the seconds ticked by, the Princess began toying with the idea of attacking the bunny while it was still down. It would free the creature from its suffering, but it definitely wasn’t honorable. Deciding the rabbit needed death more than honor, she summoned diamond dust once more. However, she waited mere seconds too long. With the raise of her hand, the grunny jumped out of the way as the pillar grew beside it. If she had decided sooner she would have been able to finish the fight. She did not bother completely the spell, for it would just waste more of her magical power. It bothered her: her naivety. It was an amateur mistake; one she hoped she wouldn’t regret later. The rabbit did not let her mope for long, as it instantly attacked after righting itself. Cursing more than a princess should know, she began to dodge its feeble attacks.

Finally the grunny was getting tired from its massive wounds. It had probably lost far too much blood. Its movements were stiff from the pain, and it stumbled whenever it tried to hop. Still, it’s lunges, though more desperate than before, were none the less vicious. It was as if it was now determined to live, though its life caused it to suffer greatly. It flew through the air, frequently falling short of its target (her neck.) Her layer of ice kept its claws from slicing down her chest. The marks were very apparent against the shine of the barrier.

The princess was so focused on the grunny: worrying too much about the pain it was certainly in, that she failed to recognize the mud that had been created from the battle. Her ice melting in the sun, made the ground beneath her feet slick, and the blood spewing from the open wounds made her feet stick to the mess, slowing her dodges. One quick dodge to the left, then immediately to the right ended up causing her to trip, falling once more on her bottom.

A shriek echoed from her lips as she fell, and to her the splash that resulted from her impact seemed to repeat over and over with every shift of her weight. Unheeded, the grunny continued to attack. After blocking a few times, ending up with more teeth and claw marks on her icy shield, the Princess kicked out as hard as she could as the bunny neared. It was hard enough for her foot to hurt during the impact; throwing the pathetic creature into the surrounding fields.

For a moment, she didn't move, just tried to catch her breath. Only the realization of where she was sitting got her up as quickly as possible. Feeling absolutely disgusting, she tried to wipe off the blood that soaked into her light clothes. Instinctively she knew the grunny was dead. She had finally released it. She could take her time to get herself together. Using as much snow as possible, she managed to rinse her feet and the back of her legs off. Walking to her clean cloak she lifted it from the ground, but only folded it onto her arm. Otherwise it's soft fur would be damaged from the blood.

Once she was as ready as possible, the Princess walked slowly over to the grunny. Placing her hand on it's matted fur, she whispered, "A grunny; a fighter to the end." As she spoke, ice flowed from her palm, covering the body. It was a tradition in the Frost world: it would protect the dead's body until three days it took for its soul to leave it. Then an animal could find it as food, completing the energy transfer. Standing again, she sighed, wondering what else would happen in these new lands. Something told her this ill grunny wouldn't be the last thing she needed to fight. Swallowing, she straightened her back, regaining as much grace as she could in her current clothing condition, and placed a hand on the gate, opening it completely and stepping in.

As her bare foot landed on the cool brick of the town's street, she didn't even need to look around to see what was wrong. Chaos was everywhere she could see. It seemed the grunny she fought had friends. A riot full of them. There seemed to be a fight in every corner possible. And quickly she realized, as she jumped out of the way to keep her toes from being run over, it was running over onto her. Plastering herself against the nearest wall, she tried to blend into its pale surface. Sidling forward, she moved along the walls at a slow pace, trying to remain invisible while looking for a group of those who equally didn't want to fight.

As everyone seemed distracted in battle, she decided to move quickly, turning to walk along the wall, looking over her shoulder instead. It worked well for a few minutes, letting her relax her tense shoulders and steady her scared breathing. A false ease fell over her after walking about a quarter of the wall. She took longer breaks in between looking over her shoulder. Until that is, the giggle. If that's what it could be called. It's high pitch cracked with the touch of insanity. It sent a shiver down her spine, causing her not to want to move. She turned slowly, nervous of what she'll find. It appeared to be a human. Though she remembered her father speaking of colored skin. Pinks and browns of all shades. This creature was gray, but she could barely register it. It was his eyes that shone with a wild fire that truly scared her. He held her gaze, unblinking with the occasional cackle interrupting. Swallowing deeply, she stepped forward and tried to keep her voice steady, "Greetings, Gaian. I am...Frost." She inclined her head smoothly. "I mean no harm; can you say the same?"

A cackle echoed loudly between the streets, making her flinch, destroying her cool demeanor. "Worry not little girl." His voice had a gasping rasp to it. "I will take you in. We'll learn what makes you skin shine like ice." The labtech stepped closer to her. Then without warning he lunged forward his gray hands reaching for her.

The little princess shrieked and raised her hands in protection. Instinctively she shot out a burst of freezing air. Though he was directly in front of her, she managed to miss. The gust blew by the labtech's hair, knocking off his cap. Though it scared him into stopping, a big grin spread over his face. She couldn't believe that she missed with him right in front of her. It was ridiculous. But it was more proof that she wasn't ready for this fearsome world.
