The Exciting Tales of the Merry Mod-Mas Knight

Edition 1: The Knight Caught Off-Guard...

User Image

[][][][]Created in a flurry of brain activity while listening to S.O.A.D and ACDC[][][][]

Taking a leisurely winter walk around the walls of Barton Town, Dreiyan didn't expect much more trouble than an occasional slip on an icy patch. He was adequately garbed for the weather, a green cloak covered his Barton Regular's armor, it was a little ragged and tattered at the edges, but it was the mark of a traveler used to...well...travelling. Stout leather boots with shin guards covered his legs, along with a non-descript pair of black leggings. He was wearing a warmly-knit scarf, black gloves, and above all, no helmet. He absolutely hated wearing the Barton Regular's helmet because he vehemently disliked the smell it gave his hair...as if the sweat, grime, and lice of a thousand Barton regulars had caked themselves into his particular helmet. His lance doubled as both a weapon and rather nifty walking stick and was firmly grasped in his right hand. His misty breath flowed before him in little white wisps as he walked along, lost in his own thoughts.

He heard them before he saw them: Grunnies. Alot of them. He hadn't fought the little deviants in a long time because they hadn't been hanging around Barton for a good while. They came out of the nearby shrubbery, chittering and hissing and making a general frothing ruckus. Their intent was obvious as they immediately drew a beeline towards Dreiyan. "What the? Why are they here again?! Darn it Gambino! It's bad enough you made these things, why can't you at least keep them under control?!!" he said in an annoyed tone as he readied his lance to strike down the first little rabid ball of green fur.

There were six in all, the first one leapt at him, tiny jaws wide. He caught it on the butt of his lance and catapulted it backwards to slam into the wall behind him with a muffled 'thud' as it landed in the snow. The second one came circling from the right and managed to get as far as his boot before said boot sent the mangy little thing flying with a hurt squeal. But while punting the Grunny-football, he hadn't noticed the third one go from the left and get behind him. It latched onto his back and began gnawing and clawing feriociously through the cloak and at his armor. The other three held back, as if waiting to see if Dreiyan could free himself from this one troublesome Grunny.

He attempted to reach behind his back to tear it off and his hand came back missing one finger of his glove, but thankfully with the finger itself still attached, albeit nicked and bleeding slightly. "You furry little hellspawn! TAKE THIS!" he yelled as he bend his legs and launched himself backwards at full force into the Barton wall behind him. The resounding thud and muffled squeak indicated his attack worked quite well, and when Dreiyan hurriedly removed himself, he saw the remains of the Grunny plastered to the wall as a green paste that gave an odd twitch every now and then. "Ewww gross." he remarked as he directed his attention back at the other Grunnies.

Edition 1 Part 2:The Grunnies Swarm!

[][][][]I am deep in character and my home-made Grunny plush is at the ready...[][][][]

In the short time it had taken to dispatch three of the Grunnies, more had shown up. But they weren't attacking just Dreiyan. Looking around to the area surrounding Barton, he could see other Gaians fighting off Grunnies themselves. It then dawned upon him: "These aren't wild Grunnies...They were set loose on us! But who would-" he cut off in a stunned silence as the choices automatically narrowed themselves down to one individual. One particularly ego-maniacal and pompous individiual with a penchant for this sort of thing when he felt unappreciated. "Gambino." he breathed with disgust that almost heated the air about him in its intensity. As he squared off against the three remaining Grunnies, he began to replay past event in his mind. "Now just what would cause Gambino to pull this one on us? Especially at Christma- Er...Mod-mas time?" he pondered as the three Grunnies attempted another coordinated attack.

Instead of letting them come at him, this time Dreiyan took the offensive, darting forward silently and initiating a wide sweep of his lance. Two of the Grunnies crouched low and avoided the swing, but one wasn't so quick and was sent flying several feet to the side where it lay in the snow, again with the odd twitch or two. The remaining Grunnies reared up, almost like cats, then launched themselves at him. One went straight at his face, sharp little teeth gnashing like mad, the other went for his chest. He managed to block the highest one with his lance, the rabid thing latching onto the haft and gnawing like it could chew through the solid wood and metal. The other one rather comically collided with his chestplate and rebounded off into the snow, stunned.

Grabbing the Grunny by the scruff of it's neck, and with a mighty hurl, he sent the thing flying many yards into the brush where it landed like a plane trying to crash-land in a snowstorm with no wings. Dreiyan reached down to dispose of the last one in a similar manner when it suddenly sprang to life and skittered away a few feet, where it stood up on its hind legs like a prairie dog. It then proceeded to bark and squeak rapidly, and with a sinking feeling Dreiyan realised it was calling for help. Too late he darted forward to silence the little monstrosity and was greeted by an overly large Grunny emerging from the brush, followed by several of its smaller cousins. "Oh great" he said, brushing a hand through his wild black hair as he sized the beast up. "A Grunny on steroids, what'll Gambino think of next?" he thought with animosity as this gargantuan Grunny stared him down hungrily.

Edition 2 Part 1:Gargantuan Grunny Troubles

[][][][]I've always wondered what Grunnies would taste like in real life...[][][][]

There it sat, in all its mangy glory. A Grunny, large even by Gaian standards, coming up to about waist height. It's green fur was matted and thick, it's crimson eyes glinting dangerously, large teeth protruding from its drooling maw. It even bore some battle scars that only Gaians could inflict, but obviously those Gaians hadn't managed to bring this beast down yet...he planned to change that. After a few tense moments of staring each other down, the large Grunny decided it wasn't going to get the pleasure of chasing down a frightened meal, and resigned itself to a fight. Noticing the bodies of its fallen bretheren only served to send it into a rage as it let out a primal roar and charged at Dreiyan, flinging white powder left and right in it's haste.

Dreiyan hadn't anticipated the speed of this thing as it barreled towards him. He only had time to throw himself out of the way as it sped by him, crashing into the wall and cracking some of the stone and mortar with the impact. It recovered as fast as Dreiyan got to his feet, only shaking its head with a stoic grunt as it renewed its attack with a hiss. Upon reaching Dreiyan again, it stood upon its hind legs, like a miniature bear, and began swiping at Dreiyan with its claws. Dreiyan parried the blow as best he could, and he felt the power held in each swipe, this Grunny held more strength than it seemed to from the outside. Still, he waited for his chance, expending little energy with dodging backwards or diverting a blow with his lance. Pretty soon, the beast presented an opportunity, a particularly hard swipe left its side exposed as it was thrown off balance. Dreiyan jabbed hard with his lance and managed to score a long gash down the beast's side. It's howl of pain and rage let him know that he'd severely wounded the beast.

But it was by no means out of the fight, the wound barely stopping it from shaking itself off and coming at him again. As it renewed its attack, this time with another charge, its smaller bretheren clustered closer in anticipation. "AARGH!" Dreiyan yelled as his feet were torn out under him as the Grunny plowed into him. In an instant, it was on his chest, clawing at his armor and attempting to tear his face off, hissing and slobbering in a fury. The only thing between him and this rabid beast was his trusty lance, firmly wedged between its jaws. "I've been in worse spots...right?" Dreiyan thought uncomfortably as he scrambled for some sort of retaliation. "Well...that little expedition to the Otami Ruins wasn't near so pleasant as this. Little freaks would've had my head shrunk and put on a spear if I hadn't had some backup." His thoughts paused slightly as it dawned on him that backup wasn't extremely likely at this point. "Well at least this thing isn't as heavy as an ox, I think if I could just-" he began saying in a strained voice as he tried to maneuver his legs beneath the beast.

Edition 2 Part 1:Gargantuan Grunny Troubles

[][][][]Gaia...my only solace and source of endless entertainment for years. I'd say they were well spent[][][][]

It took a bit of doing, it's not like he was under pressure or anything with a large green beast sitting on him with the intent of killing him, but he finally got his legs under the thing. With a bit of effort and manly grunting, Dreiyan managed to launch the thing off and behind him where it landed akwardly in the snow with an enraged stream of growls. He got to his feet immediately heedless of the Grunny spit and snow that clung to him and the tiny red eyes glaring at him in a wide circle that enclosed the two combatants. He heard warning sirens from within Barton town, that either meant they knew of the attack and were sending reinforcements, or they were under attack themselves. "Oh no! The Modmas Tree!" he said with worry. The Mods and Gaians had all pitched in hard this year to raise on heck of a tree in the town center and decorate the entire town. His attention was drawn back to the present as the beastly Grunny before him cocked its head as if observing its prey in a new light, its lips curled back in an ugly sort of grimace he could only assume was a smile and it came at him again. Only much more menacingly and slow.

Whenever animals acted like this, Dreiyan knew they were plotting something in their tiny little brains. It was best to foil those plans with a swift attack, so he launched forward, bringing his lance down in a hard vertical strike. If it connected, it would be sure to end the fight then and there. But the beast was too quick! It evaded the strike with a side-hop, the lance only managing to shear off a bit of its whiskers before burying itself in the snow. "Curses!" he breathed with annoyance as he felt the lance bury into the frosted ground beneath the snow. The creature seized the opportunity and knocked into him again, separating him from his lance that he was desperately trying to tug from the cold ground. Thankfully it didn't knock him off his feet and he managed to give it a solid boot to the rear as it went by for a second pass. It's sticky synthetic goop that served as its blood was staining the snow wherever it went. It's movements were getting slower. Pretty soon Dreiyan would be able to land a finishing blow when it got too tired. Taunting the overgrown Grunny like a bull-fighter, he allowed it to careen past him a third time before he launched himself at his lance and, with a small struggle, freed it from the ground.

"Bring it you furry mongrel! I'm gonna show you what happens when you mess with Modmas!" he yelled brazenly at his berserk foe. He'd never really had much of a personal stake in Modmas before, but he felt different this year. He'd handed out early gifts and helped decorate the town himself. He'd seen the happy faces on the little Gaians faces as well as the older ones. He didn't want that to be tarnished, not now, not ever.

Edition 3 Part 1: A Fur-ocious Battle!

[][][][]I've never entered so many contests before! Modmas is amazing!!![][][][]

The Grunnies forming the encircling ring were chittering excitedly. Dreiyan was never quite sure just how much intelligence these things had, they still managed to surprise most Gaians on a regular basis. "Especially that little...thing...Deidrich, if he's even related to Grunnies.." he thought with a shudder. He'd had the 'pleasure' of taking an Airship expedition to save a Jellyfish Demigod with Deidrich just months before. To say the least, they'd been unusually lucky, but the little monster was just plain weird! The things he said, ate, or destroyed....utter randomosity. Still, he couldn't complain much, it was better than riding with Carl. At that thought he shuddered again. He was glad he made it out of that one alive...

A frantic panting brought his attention back to the present. His large Grunny foe was weakening and tiring. The gash in its side had proved to be effective in the long run and was taking its toll. It was being quite wary now, choosing it's movements with whatever amount of intellect it possessed. The sticky green goop flowed freely from the side wound he'd inflicted, half of their little 'battle arena' was speckled and streaked with the stuff.

Still on the offensive, and empowered with his previous battle cry, he dashed forward in a flurry of lance jabs, aimed at superficial and non-vital areas so as to provoke the beast even more. It managed to dodge a few, but he scored three light blows along the beast's head and limbs. Un-phased but surely wounded, it retaliated in a tired series of lunges, swipes, and snaps. It's breathing was labored and frantic, but it was still intent on rending Dreiyan limb from limb. If he relaxed and took a hit or two from those claws, that scenario just might happen. An overpowered Grunny was nothing to scoff at, even when it was half-dead.

Edition 3 Part 2: Backup!

[][][][]I could use some better luck with the dice...seriously...3hp.[][][][]

This battle was wearing on. Dreiyan had energy to spare, but the Grunny did not. Still, survival instincts must've kicked in, because it grudgingly bellowed out sounds similar to the smaller Grunnie's cry for help. Sadly, it had the exact same effect, and the Grunnies that had been milling about the 'ring' of the battlefield surged forward in a mass of green fur and red eyes. Meanwhile, the larger Grunny backed away into the masses, keeping its distance while it recuperated for a new attack.

Dreiyan only had time to scream "That's cheap! Learn how to die with honor you coward!" before they were upon him. A surging, hissing, squealing mass of claws and sharp teeth that showed no sign of relenting. He struck down those he could, but was quickly overwhelmed by the roiling mass of green. Thankfully, Grunnies couldn't do much against metal armor, so as long as he protected his face, he was able to weather the worst of this attack. "This is the ONLY time I wish I'd worn the stupid helmet!" he yelled in frustration, barely hearing himself amidst the squeaks and squeals of the Grunny horde. He could feel several nicks and nips tearing into him where he couldn't cover the skin of his neck and he could feel them trying to get through the course leather that bridged the metal plates of his armor. He still had a firm grip on his lance, although it was useless at the moment.

He didn't know how long he was stuck kneeling while they barraged him, but eventually he fell over and tried to keep himself covered as best he could. After a few moments of this, he heard an authoritative bark. Only then did the horde subside to reveal Dreiyan, bleeding in several places, laying prostrate on the ground. His eyes were closed but he was far from dead. He could hear the big Grunny approach and loom over his seemingly conquered form. The lance was still in his grip.

Edition 4 Part 1: The Final Blow!

[][][][] OK THIS TIME FOR REAL![][][][]

Feigning death was not something he considered honorable in the least, but he knew that his chances of winning were slim at this point unless he used what put him above these mangy creatures: His brain. He'd rather not face the Grunny horde again, so he reasoned that if he beat the big guy, they'd leave. He could feel the beast's breath on the back of his neck, smell its breath, which wasn't that bad actually, and he swore he could almost feel its heartbeat. Before he waited too long and found himself getting chomped by this bad bunny, he gripped his lance ever tighter and brought it up in one hard thrust as he went to a kneeling position from being face down in the snow.

The lance caught the monster Grunny square in the chest, going right through and out the other side. Grunnys were no good at facial expressions, but Dreiyan could've swore he saw surprise on its face as it stared blankly at the five foot pole sticking out of its chest. Dreiyan calmly pulled it from the beast's chest, grimacing at the bright green his lance had been stained. The large Grunny, surely a great figure among his kind, let out a few quiet gurgles, and fell over, quite dead...no twitching.

The smaller Grunnies looked on in silence at their comrade in the snow, waited for something to happen. When it didn't move, they darted several murderous glances at Dreiyan, but silently backed away back into the underbrush around Barton Town. Wiping his lance in the snow, Dreiyan heaved a sigh of relief and looked at his fallen foe. He was honorable in his killing, he treated things with respect, and so would not defile his opponent by taking a trophy. Even though such a trophy would bring him much acclaim back with the other Regulars in town. Besides, there were more pressing matters to attend to, the warning bells and sirens were still going off in town. Dreiyan began a quick sprint toward the nearest gate into town and found himself at the West Gate in no time. The other Gaians caught outside at the moment of the Grunny attack had mostly finished up their business and there was nary a green little monster in sight...however...looking upon the town itself was another story.... "Oh no...this is horrible." Dreiyan said as his eyes took in a catastrophic scene.

Edition 4 Part 2: Modmas Under Siege!

[][][][]Woo! Finally a new enemy! Time for some dialogue.[][][][]

The town was in complete disarray. Gaians were running left and right, Barton Regulars were scattered everywhere, some moving, others out for the count. Dreiyan looked towards the center of town and breathed a sigh of relief, the Modmas tree was still standing. But it was definately not looking good. A sort of defensive group had formed around the tree, most of the Gaians and regulars from town were there: Agatha, Nicolae, Rina, Ian, Mirae, even Rufus. And of course, Leon was there as well, rallying the defense. Cindy Donovinh was, ever-dedicated to her job, reporting the news and miraculously not being attacked. At the forefront of the defense, along with Leon, stood the Mods. Dreiyan felt a surge of pride. Though bound by 'The Terms' to not use their powers to directly influence every-day Gaian life, they were still prepared to defend their holiday as regular Gaians against devastating odds.

Dreiyan cringed when he saw what was causing the commotion, he'd never faced one of them before and had only heard stories of their power. Gambino's motley crew of Labtech's. Thankfully Dreiyan couldn't spot their leader tech, 1337 among the attackers. They had wrecked most of the decorations and were closing in around the Modmas tree, eerily silent as the ring grew tighter.

Dreiyan began sneaking as best he could, with the hope of sneak-attacking the ring of Techs from behind. He caught Leon's eye and hand-signaled to him to be ready for the attack. One of the Techs got in his line of sight and Dreiyan couldn't see what Leon's reply was...."Was that a look of fear in his eye?" Dreiyan thought. "Nah, couldnt've been. It's just my adrenaline and nerves." he reassured himself as he got within striking range.

Raising his lance high over head, he brought it down hard, directly in line with the nearest LabTech. His heart stopped cold when the Tech reached up and grabbed the haft...without even turning around. In an instant the LabTech was right in front of him, his eyes were ringed with black, his skin veiny and disfigured looking...those teeth...they belonged in an animal not a human. But his eyes were lucid, they seemed to bore into Dreiyan's skull with their intensity. As transfixed as he was, he didn't even have time to react as he was quickly gut-punched and doubled over in pain. Holding his stomach, he realised the armor had actually been dented.
"Pathetic. Is this what the proud Barton Regulars resort to? Sneak attacks from behind?" a clear and cold voice rang out. It was 1337, he'd been standing there the whole time, watching. "Toss him in with the rest. Time is short."

Edition 5 Part 1: A Rich Man's Designs!

[][][][]Hmmm...Yay! An excuse to further the plot line![][][][]

He was roughly thrown into the crowd, oddly enough, still with his lance. Dreiyan immediately put in his best effort to strike back, making a long jab at 1337. There was a colllective gasp in the crowd and Dreiyan thought he'd actually scored a hit on the lead Gambino Tech. His momentary burst of hope was crushed to dust when he realised the truth of it. 1337 had stopped the lance with his bare teeth, and he was smiling wickedly around a mouthful of blade, still stained green with a bit of Grunny goo. With a single twitch of his neck, he broke the blade completely off of the haft, rendering Dreiyan's weapon useless. Spitting out the shattered lancehead, it landed standing straight in the cobblestones of Barton Square, in front of a bewildered and frightened crowd of Gaian's best defenders.

He was not beaten nor punished for his attack on the leader Tech, though several of the underling Techs gave him murderous looks under a condescending sneer of superiority. In fact, 1337 carried on as if nothing had happened, and launched in to one of those monologues all villains loved to do so much.
"Due to the excessive amount of attention you all have devoted to this 'Modmas'" he said with a particular note of disgust at the mention of their holiday, "Master Gambino has declared the destruction and prohibition of said holiday from henceforth. Instead, he has proposed a new holiday, Gambino's Day, which is much better than Modmas anyway. On Gambino's Day, celebrated in place of Modmas, you will all offer carols, gifts, celebrate your celebrations, be merry in your merriment, all in the name of Lord Gambino, who has so graciously provided you with an amazing new holiday." he finished, sounding rather pleased with himself, but as an afternote added; "Oh, and Lord Gambino said that he places much emphasis on the 'giving of gifts in his honor part, by which he means 'send the gifts to my mansion post-haste."

The Gaians and Mods had gone rather stony faced with disbelief and rejection of the idea, Dreiyan included. Did Gambino honestly expect them to just swap holidays on a whim? "And for such a cruddy replacement at that?!" "We will begin Gambino's Day conversion process by first, tearing down the most honorific symbol of your wretched 'Modmas', namely, that tree you are standing in front of." At this statement, Dreiyan and several of the others looked back towards the beautiful tree. It stood tall, proud, and generously decorated with all sorts of Ornaments that each Gaian had submitted created. Being at the center of town, it was quite the attraction, 1337 was right, as a culmination of both the Mod's and Gaian's work, this was their most honorific symbol to Modmas!

Dreiyan was absolutely seething, "How dare they?! Why do they think they can just lord over our holidays like this? They are completely ruining the Modmas spirit here!" he raged within his mind as his eyes shot daggers at the Techs. Leon then voiced the question everyone was dying to ask, but inevitably knew the answer to: "And what if we refuse your crappy 'Gambino's Day'?" He said defiantly, stepping forward and brandishing his weapon with all the courage only the leader of the Regulars could muster. 1337 cocked his head and smiled in a very eerie manner and simply said.
"It wasn't an offer. This is happening. NOW." He then snapped his gloved fingers, causing the other Techs to snap to attention. "DESTROY THE TREE NOW!" he commanded as he stepped away from the ring, turned away, and left the square.

The Techs chuckled maliciously and began closing in. The ring of Gaians grew tighter, not knowing what to do in the face of such a powerful enemy.

Edition 5 Part 2: INDIGNATION!

[][][][]ARGH! I need some high numbers!!![][][][]

This couldn't be happening, not now. Was their precious holiday about to be wrecked just because some pompous buffoon in his big mansion said so? Dreiyan looked towards the others in the ring around the tree. They were scared, but he saw the fighting spark in their eyes, even little Peyo, who was having to be restrained by his mother further back in line. He looked next to him and caught Leon's eye, no words were said, but much was communicated. Semmingly oblivious to the Techs that were only a few paces away, he about-faced, raised his sword, and gave a mighty rallying call. "ALL GAIANS GATHERED HERE, ATTACK WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT. DO NOT LET THIS TREE FALL!" he then whirled about and leapt headfirst into the Techs. The fight was on.

In a magnificent surge, what appeared to be a frightened ring of defenders exploded into a flurry of action the rippled outwards, pushing the Techs back in it's ferocity. The Regulars were at the forefront of the attack, doing their best to beat back the Techs, but the Gaians and Mods weren't far behind, wielding whatever they could find at the moment, even going unarmed, as Dreiyan was. Everyone was belting out their best battle cry and giving it their all.

It was obvious, however, that this would be a hard-fought battle. There were no rumors of the infamous Lab Techs, there were only facts. Most of them were incredibly strong and agile from years of mis-fired experiments. It put some light to the saying 'whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger.' They were almost super-soldiers in their own right. The Techs were not oblivious to this, they'd come unarmed, being so confident in their presence and power that they wouldn't need weapons. Big Mistake. Still they were putting up a good fight, they were as good of fighters as any vampire with their enhanced bodies, too bad they didn't have the same weaknesses vampires did.

Dreiyan was right alongside Leon, laying left and right with his fists, but his attacks where either blocked or dodged by the tall blonde Tech he'd chosen to fight. She was muscularly feminine, with gorgeous flowing blonde hair, but no amount of beauty could disguise the twisted look of hatred her eyes held. Before Dreiyan knew what was happening, she throat-chopped him with blinding speed and then leg-sweeped him, sending him crashing to the ground, gasping for air. She was about to mash his face in with some devilish-looking high heels when Leon tackled her just in time. He was on the verge of getting up when an errant foot, whether a Tech's or a Gaian's, mashed into the side of his head, making him see stars.

After a few moments, he struggled to get to his feet, looking around in a daze. Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion. So many faces, so much noise. All the Gaians were giving it their best, but the Lab Techs were holding their ground. Soon they'd begin pushing forward. Then all would be lost. Dreiyan looked to the tip-top of their Modmas tree. Looking to the bright star on top, infused with the purest form of Stellarite and shining gloriously. "Please...help us save Modmas." he plead to whatever higher powers were listening at the moment.

Edition 6 Part 1: The Fighting Modmas Spirit

[][][][]MWUAAHAHAHA FINALLY A HIT![][][][]

Dreiyan couldn't quite comprehend what happened next, it was as if time had stopped for him. He couldn't look around if he'd wanted to, his eyes were transfixed to the shining star. He then heard two ethereal voices, speaking in unison directly to his mind. "We have heard your call, faithful Gaian. You are physically inferior to the foes that lie before you, but what you do not possess in strength, you will have in spirit." They were beautiful, but their voices stirred something in the back of Dreiyan's mind. Where had he heard them before? "Do you believe, Dreiyan? Do you believe that within you, there lies the power to save Modmas?" they asked with thunderous power. Dreiyan's answer took a moment, but he knew what this burning desire was, he wanted to save Modmas. "I do...hey is that you, Mintaka and Rigel?" he asked casually. There was a stunned silence filled with hasty splutterings, "Eh...erm...NO! Of course not mortal! Why would you think such a thing? Mintaka and Rigel have no desire to see Modmas pull through this year, we barely have any concern for you mortals anyway!" They finished, both out of sync and their image completely ruined. Another silence ensued and Dreiyan had a big 'R U Serious?' look on his face. Realising their mistake in saying 'we', the two demigods made a hasty attempt to disguise their purpose. "By the power invested in us, we hereby endow you with the might of the Modmas Knight! Use your power to save Modmas and vanquish Gambino's minions!" They boomed in an authoritative and godly manner.

Before Dreiyan could think of a snappy reply, a blast of light washed over his form, shattering the spell and throwing back several of the Lab Techs in a concussive blast that gave several minor scrapes, while sparing the Gaians. Everyone present gasped as they gazed upon the new Dreiyan standing before them, bathed in a holy aura and livid with the spirit of Modmas.

"Time to even the playing field" Dreiyan said, his eyes seeking out the nearest group of Techs.

Edition 6 Part 2: A Merry Modmas Brawl

[][][][]Feel mah wrath Techs! I do love making my avatar match the occasion of the RP[][][][]

His old clothes and armor were completely gone, replaced with a snazzy new outfit of crisp reds, pinks, and greens. He had a scarlet red cape and striped red scarf to accent the very santa-ish hat on his head. The green uniform he wore had a distinct elfish flair to it. His weapon, no longer a lance, but a double bladed naginata that looked like it was grown not forged. It even had a few sprigs of holly on it. The new Dreiyan was fashionably equipped for Modmas, he even smelt of pine trees! But he was also ready for battle, the spirit of Modmas that filled him would not be contained, would not be repressed, would not back down. He was ready to unleash the holidays upon their enemies. The Modmas Knight had arrived.

"Time to even the playing field." Dreiyan said as he sought out the nearest group of Techs. "FOR MODMAAAAAASS!!!" he bellowed as he dashed forward through the stunned crowd. He slashed quickly at the nearest Tech, a short and stocky looking fellow who was still immobilized with...fear? Disbelief? Ending with just one slash, Dreiyan calmly stood back and watched, an impassive look of judgement upon his enlightened face. The Tech looked down at his labcoat in disbelief as the buttons popped off and the coat fell open, revealing a crisp, tight undershirt beneath that covered a magnificently sculpted body. Suddenly, his shirt fell in half and a diagonal gold line began arcing from the Tech's shoulder to waist. He sputtered a few incomprehensible syllables as his body separated in two neat pieces. They thudded to the frosty ground and evaporated in a magnificent array of gold-speckled dust that seemed to dance with holiday images: Candycanes, gingerbread men, presents, trees, and happy faces. When it was done, not even the Tech's clothes remained, just a small pile of golden-holiday dust.

Still the stunned silence pursued, neither side having moved since Dreiyan's transformation. The Tech's were looking at the remains of their short little comrade in abject horror, the Gaians were looking at it with radiant hope. The eyes of both sides met, the Tech's burying their fear under their familiar mask of hatred, the Gaians beginning to smile and look to their hero. Dreiyan put his weapon to the pavestones like a staff, took a heroic pose, and declared with authority: "With my newfound power, I will liberate Modmas from Gambino and his minions!" A cheer erupted from the Gaian's side as the ranks reformed. Dreiyan then directed his attention to the Techs, and extended the only courtesy he would offer from this point forward. "Techs of Gambino, I now give you a choice, although you gave my people none. Leave now and abandon your master's foolish plans and there will be peace. If not..." at this he looked to the Gains, who readied their weapons and made a good show of looking quite fierce. "Then it is war!" he finished.

The Tech's looked stony-faced and not disheartened in the least now. Their current 'leader' in absence of 1337 stepped up to the front of their ranks and said with a savage tone:
"THEN IT'S WAR!" Before all the Tech's let out a horrendous inhuman hiss and launched forward en-masse. The Gaians countered with their own battle cry. The two sides clashed once again, one defending the tree, the other vying to destroy it.

Damage rolled: 5, detracting from the Labtech's HP of 53

Edition 7 Part 1:Turning the Tables

[][][][]Yay! Final Exams are nearly done and I can feel my brain re-inflating with awesomeness![][][][]

The Techs were smart enough to make the best of their situation. They grouped together, forming a tight mass of fists and feet that maintained its form among a mob of angry Gaians. Dreiyan held back, knowing that more Techs could be lurking about, and that if they really wanted to, they could barrel through or leap over the crowd and begin attacking the tree. It didn't feel like he most honorable thing, given the amazing show he'd just put on, but it was the smart thing. It would take alot of Techs to beat back the Gaians, but it would only take one or two at the most to topple their beautiful tree.

The embattled Techs were attempting to move forward, but the Gaians were holding solid. It was then that Dreiyan espied the true purpose of their cluster, one Tech was at the center holding a device to his head. "Oh no, he's calling for help!" Dreiyan thought as the Tech finished his call before he could do anything. The Tech looked up, straight into Dreiyan's empowered eyes and smirked, he then rejoined the ring of Techs to await the backup he'd just called in.

It didn't take long at all, they must've been waiting nearby just in case they were needed. Soon another group of Techs had entered the square from the opposite end, going full sprint towards the tree. Using a voice that had never been quite so loud and well-heard, Dreiyan boomed over the noise of battle: "Leon! Another group is rushing the tree, I'll try to hold them off." and then rushed to do so. Unlike the other Techs, these were armed. They'd brought axes and torches to destroy the tree with, but still had no better protection than their labcoats. Dreiyan stood alone on his side of the tree, standing off against half a dozen Techs. They halted a stone's toss from Dreiyan, not to perterbed by the presence of this lone individual with glowing eyes and garish holiday attire. Two of the axe-wielders stepped forward to deal with him.

They both initiated a strike coming from both sides, Dreiyan pushed inside their striking range and rammed them both in the chest before the blades could even arc across. They both fell backwards, recovering quickly and now quite pissed off. Then three started to come at him, then four, five, eventually all six were rushing him. But they didn't get past Dreiyan and any closer to their goal of destroying the tree
