Finnvox

[forward momentum]

Finnvox sat quietly by the fire in her hillside cabin, enjoying the evening with a cup of fine wine and a good book. The faint noise of celebrations and caroling gradually reached even her abode, the unmistakable sounds of festivities and joy floating through the window. Scowling she stood and promply shut it. "Darn revellers", she muttered to no one in particular, then added "bah humbug" for effect. Pleased greatly by her attempt at humour she sat down once again to pursue her novel.

BANG

CRASH

"Darn Cats!" Startled and immediately filled with fury, Finnvox stood heading to the kitchen cupboard. From there she grabbed her trusty ladel and set out to cause some cat-astrophe (pause for laughter).

Upon investigating the disturbance, which she was certain had been caused by vigilante cats punishing her for calling Rufus a dirty flea-bag, she discovered something else. Something unprecedented, something horribly disturbing.

Filled with previously unimaginable fury Finnvox flew into the air, aiming her ladel squarly at the grunnies stupid, cuddly face. From the sheer force of her leap, however, she sailed over the offending creature, landing painfully in her (until then) perfectively cultivated rose garden.

She turned to face her enemy. Now, it was personal.

This time, filled with vengeance, she observed the Grunny before acting. Taking advantage of her pause, the loathsome thing leapt at her. Flying steadily towards her perfectively cultivated face, Finvox lifted her ladel and swung...

Like a one of the pro cricket players she refused to watch (out of disdain for all sports, not necessarily cricket) she swung with precision, grace and intent.

CRACK

Deftly shattering the Grunny's front leg/paw/appendage Finnvox gave a cry of joy that quickly turned into rage as she realised the beast was still functional, if limping slightly.

Showing an amazing resistance to pain, the foul beastie bared its fangs and once again prepared to attack...

Taken off guard by the Grunnie's sudden swoop, Finnvox failed to raise her trusty ladel in time which, proving to be not so trusty, fell from her meaty grasp. Unabbated, the beast clawed at her face, eliciting another cry of purest rage from our poor hero.
