As the Sorceress stepped...

Head bowed to the harsh winter wind, Jacklyn looked upon the fray below her. The message she had been sent was still clenched tight in her hand. Gambino was threatening something again. This time, it was Modmas. The one time of year where the higher authorities gave back to the people. But Gambino was selfish and was now trying to destroy everything. Heaving a sigh, Jacklyn dropped from her perch to join in with the battle.

The first thing that stood in Jacklyn's way to Gambino was a barrier of grunnies. "Always hated these little buggers," Jacklyn snarled as she pulled a scepter from her bag. One of those helpful little wizard apprentices gave it to her for helping them with their wizarding finals and it served it's purpuse. Blue energy pulsed from it an struck the grunny in front of her. Hard. It skidded back along the ground before coming for her directly.

Unperturbed by the previous attack, the grunny charged Jacklyn. She ducked at the last possible moment, trying to use the sudden motion to her advantage. But it was in vain as her magical shot went wide. Unfortunately, the scepter's charge was two shots a day. Jacklyn retreated to a nearby rock to wait out until the scepter glowed with the familiar energy again.

Shaking the scepter in frustration, Jacklyn almost yelped as it shocked her from recharging. Jumping back out, she fired off a charge that hit the grunny square in the chest.

As the grunny struggled to get back to its feet, Jacklyn aimed the scepter again. The shockwave of this charge threw her back towards the rock she hid at before. Getting gingerly to her feet, all that remained of the grunny was a small scrap of green fur and a couple spots of blood. "Good riddance. Let's see what the manor holds," she grumbled to herself as she made her way inside.

Jacklyn scoured the front hall to no avail. Things seemed deserted right now...

The front lobby appearing deserted, Jacklyn continued farther into the mansion. A skittering noise reached her ears as she hid in a nearby room to see what was following her.

The labtech that had been following her finally made his presence known. Jacklyn snapped off a shot from her scepter. She watched as the labtech sailed back from taking it to the chest. Smiling from the advantage she had, Jacklyn stepped from her hiding place to finish what she started.

Jacklyn stood over the labtech and aimed for the head. Just as she was about to fire, the labtech yanked her feet out from under her, making the shot fire wide. "Dammit," she snarled as she went back to her spot away from the door.
