So, I was looking at the Kalonas and wondered... Can they have custom tails that fit breed standard? Like Unicorns can have custom tails, as long as they fit breed standard, without being called a mutation. Same question applies to the Kalona horns.

Yes they can! smile Max of four horns though, must be on the head..... not the side of the face or neck or something.

You might be able to argue that a kalona tail ending in hair would be appropriate for a half-breed kalona... *head scratch*

the tails typically have to have the same endings as the existing templates. ie. spades

You could get a crossbreed unicorn-kalona if you want a fluffy tail with your kalona! biggrin

Yes, custom tails that generally fit within the Kalona type are totally appropriate - so you can have variants on the "smooth serpentine tail with a fork-thing or tentacles on the end, spines optional." (There are two different Kalona tails, though the forked is more common.)
A hair tipped Kalona tail would be a UniKalona cross, as pointed out.
Cross-breeds can definitely lack traits - "downgrading" to regular traits is free, so if you wanted no horns on a Kalona, that'd be fine. You can have crossbreed-halfbreeds, showing partial traits for their parent types.
