This question can be answered by the potency and actuality concepts of Aristotle.
It says that actuality is prior logically, temporally and substantially to potency: - Act is logically prior to potency that which is "potential is potential because it is possible for it to become active." This means that the potency of a chicken is possible only because it can become a chicken. -Further, act is temporally prior to potency for the reason that the potency of a chicken, while it is yet to be a chicken, is the result of an actual chicken. -Furthermore, act is substantially prior to potency because those which are in actuality have already form. Thus, the chicken, for the sake of which the egg must be, has already the form chicken while the egg has still to acquire such form, since the egg has yet to be a chicken.
In short, nauna ang chicken. Wag na kayo makipagtalo kay Aristotle rofl
