 Welcome to the first Illud Per Altus Sententia contest and part one of the pack metaplot. For more information on the pack, click the banner to head to our subforum. Click here to head to the main shop! Starts: Now! Ends: 1/20/11 (May be extended) This contest is for three adult hyenas and two pups. The adults will be given away via RP contest and the pups will be given away through a personality/naming contest and a raffle. The winner of the personality/naming contest will get first choice, and the raffle winner will get the remaining pup. Entering the personality/naming contest will get you a ticket, as will entering for one of the adult hyenas. Maximum 2 tickets per person. The Rules: 1. No drama. Don't whine or complain if you don't win, don't hint at things, just be a good sport! 2. This is part of a pack metaplot. These characters will be involved. How they handle it is up to the winners, but they must stay in the pack even when the plot is over. 3. You may enter for as many of them as you like, but may only win one. This means that the winners of the RP and personality/naming contests will not be eligible for the raffle pup. 4. Literacy counts! We won't take off huge points for a spelling error or a missed comma here and there, but try to make your entry easy to read. 5. Do not pester the judges once the contest is over! We will try to get the judging done in a timely fashion, but we have other obligations as well. If judging is taking an unreasonable amount of time (Say, a month after the contest is over) you may ask Atheare about it. 6. More rules may be added as needed

The story so far...
While the pack prides itself in knowledge and logic, it is still young and in some ways many of the members are naive. All outside hyenas have been allowed into their ranks without much question, and so far it has allowed them to thrive with their constantly growing numbers.
Fortunately for them, they found that most of the hyenas that wanted to join them were just as peaceful and honest as they are. Willing to do their fair share of work with little complaint, safe in the knowledge that everyone would take care of everyone else in regard to food, shelter, and family.
Until one day a group of interlopers came along.
At first they seemed just like any other hyenas. There were three of them, and the female of the group was pregnant. Her mate was cheerful and carefree, but the final member of the group seemed to be a bit distant. The pack allowed them access without so much as a second look, and they became part of the family.
It wasn't long until the female gave birth to two beautiful pups. The whole pack celebrated their birth and showered the happy parents in congratulations just as they would for any other members.
It wasn't even a week later until disaster struck.
In the dead of night a dark figure made his way through the pack's valley. The next morning all of the scouts awoke with the faint memory of being attacked by a quick, dark figure in the night before being knocked unconscious. The two young pups were gone, and now the question became this: Who would do such a thing, and why?
Now a once close, trusting pack is going through it's first crisis, many of the members are suspicious of each other and worried for the safety of any other pups who may be born in the future.

The Suspects
In all the panic, members of the pack, particularly the distressed parents, are doing what ever they can to find out who is to blame for this, and even fellow members are being questioned. Most are able to explain their whereabouts easily and confirm using an eye-witness that they had nothing to do with it, but some are not so lucky.
Suspect #1: Taka (Played by Hitsuzen)
Taka has always seemed a bit on edge. He's never seemed angry or aggressive, but that doesn't mean he's not a bit shady. He's not as up front with strangers as most of the members are, and stumbles over his words when questioned about his whereabouts on the night of the kidnapping.
Suspect #2: Kafil
One of the Magistrates of the pack, most were hesitant of accusing him at first. He spends a lot of time by himself and is not particularly fond of children. When asked about the night of the incident, he simply snorts and replies with the usual "Where do you think I was? I like to be left ALONE, I wasn't anywhere near them.", and then skulks off to his den.
Suspect #3: Tuna
Tuna is a seer, which makes most of the pack slightly unsure about what he is capable of. Most hyenas, including the parents of the pups, have never met a seer before, and are more than a little skeptical of his so-called "powers". It is also known that he came to the pack with his mate, Ameki, with whom he has yet to have pups. Ameki loves children, and so it is suspected that he may have taken them out of jealousy...
Suspect #4: The Newcomer
He came traveling with the parents, so they obviously trust him, but some others in the pack aren't so sure. Nobody is able to verify his story about where he was that night, and he doesn't seem too keen on talking about it. In fact, he doesn't seem too keen on talking about anything. The only ones he spends any time with are the two he arrived with, and even around them he seems more like a shadow than anything.

WHO DUNNIT?!
Entering For: The Friend
Name: Kivuliseta ["Shadow, pushed aside" in Swahili]
Personality: Warm-hearted and soft spoken, 'Seta doesn't take to strangers easily and prefers the company of those he knows best.
Who did it?: Kafil... his anti-social attitude just never sits right with 'Seta.
Character Response:
'Seta knew her forever... heck, they went back to childhood friends even. He always thought he'd be the one she wound up with,and her the one he could be with forever. But then she found him. That was fine, it wouldn't last...the way they talked to each other made a knot in his stomach.But he wouldn't tell her about it, OH no...he wouldn't want her to feel awkward around him when he was with the two of them, so he watched and waited.
Then came the pregnancy, a complete and total shock. Maybe...just maybe this was real for her. He could...live with that, couldn't he? The idea of being away from her hurt more than the idea of being there for her when she needed him. And so he stayed.
Everywhere they went,he was right behind them,talking to them in a low voice and being a comfort to her and her mate.When they came across the pack, 'Seta was uneasy. All these new hyenas to get used to, he'd much rather cling to the shadows of his friends. But he dealt with it as he dealt with most things, quietly.
She bore her pups, and while everyone celebrated their coming, 'Seta beamed inwardly and took a careful watch over them, just as he was friends with their mother, he would too do everything for these pups in his power.
But he'd let down his guard, and now they had disappeared.
On the outside, 'Seta's features remained as cool as they always were,but on the inside he was frantic. He couldn't look for them, as she was distraught, and needed what comfort could be offered.
But to be a suspect made 'Seta's blood boil. Could he bring himself to reveal what love he held for those pups and their mother? Of course not! He couldn't ruin their friendship, it was all he believed he had in this world. Instead he snuck out at night and searched every corner within the pack lands, fear making his heart race at being followed and blamed even further for taking away those precious lives to a hiding place.
So, he lived as such, a comforting figure by day, and a sneak by night.

Entering For: Friend
Name: Lejl - "Night" in Maltese
Personality: Quite, mysterious, watchful. Lejl would like to go unnoticed rather than be addressed. He prefers to be the silent guardian than the social butterfly.
Who did it?: Tuna - combined with his seer abilities, he could create the perfect heist.
Character Response: Of course they would suspect him. Lejl wasn't really the social butterfly, which in turn did make him look very shady. But no shadier than the other three suspects. Of course, he was still a newcomer to the pack. Why should they believe him? He wouldn't believe himself either. He had yet to prove that he truly was innocent, and yet he really didn't want too. That meant breaking out of his comfort zone. Lejl wasn't a speaker. He was a watcher. And that's exactly what he would continue to do.
Watch.
His dark red eyes never missed a thing. Lejl was going to find out who really did steal the pups, and in his own ways. Maybe then, if he could either point them in the right direction or save the pups himself, they would see that he was no threat. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. But everyone seemed like a prime suspect, it was so hard to distinguish truth from lies, what with all the panic that ensued. Still, there was one....one whom caused Lejl to pause with suspicion no matter what he was doing. And that was the one called Tuna. His so called seer abilities... Lejl had come across only one other seer in his life before he found his two friends, and they had not left a very decent imprint upon him. What with his ability to "see" things no one else could, why Tuna could pull off the perfect heist as far as Lejl was concerned, even if he really didn't fully understand how the hyena's powers truly worked. He would be keeping close eyes on the brown canine, however, that was for sure.
Even if it killed him, Lejl was always watching, taking silent notes, and of course when he wasn't watching, consoling the few friends he did have. It broke his heart to see them in such despair. He wanted to do more for them. But really, what else could he do? He was just the quite friend. Their shadow. But he would find their pups and reunite them, if only just to see them smile again.

Name: Fizta
Meaning: N/A
Personality: Fiz was born a paranoid little girl, scared of every little thing that looked at her or got within a close range. This incident only made it worse, and she's the ultimate when it comes to clingy, skitzy hyenas.
Future Plans: From her experiences, she'll climb her way into the Specto rank and most likely be known as the overly protective nanny. If someone can give her true comfort from within the pack, she'll settle down with them indefinitely, no flings for her! An innumerable amount of RP can come with her interactions with pups to meeting someone she can grow closer to.

Pup you are trying for: Blue Hair
Name: Glissando, Glissa for short. (Her colors just scream that name to me!)
Meaning: "a rapid series of ascending or descending notes on the musical scale"
Personality: Quick thinking, bold and brave. Glissa is the outspoken one, never afraid to attempt or do anything. She has a bit of sass to her, but she is never curt or rude. She tends to get a bit excited in the wrong situations, but never charges in blindly. She always has a plan, that you can bet your tail on. If your very close to her, she may tease you, but thats just her way of showing affection.
Future Plans:
+ She would be a Bellator, while trying to also play a minor roll of a Specto in her spare time (see below future idea)
+ Would see it as her duty to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again (related to above future idea)
+ May develop interest in "The Friend", which could lead to several plot possibilities depending on what the wishes of who wins him are.
+ Emotionally effected by this in the long run, more than anyone realizes?
+ Open to anything other family members may want to try/plot
