Hakuna'jina - Das Tor

Hakuna yawned and looked at the sleeping bundles of fur surrounding her and littering the den. She couldn't help but smile a little. She'd gotten much better at being a mother, and she hoped this litter would turn out well. Even with the...extra she'd gained in the form of Marinette. The Sinta'hare stood, being careful not to wake the cubs, and stepped out to the entrance of the den to stretch and view the tail end of the sunset. Mmmm...a red sky. It would be a good night. She yawned again and shook herself. Oof...she did not need to be sleepy. Not in her line of work. Cubs had sharp little claws, and her older students were getting better. If they wanted to scar her, they'd need to earn it, not catch her sleeping.

Sunset....it meant that Tuli had been awake for a bit. He usually woke about an hour before sunset, and went to sleep an hour before sunrise. The little blue-eyed Seer was sitting outside the den, thinking to himself, until suddenly the sound of paws behind him told him that someone was awake, and only his head and eyes turned to gaze at his mother. Voice raising softly, the youngling spoke, "Hello mother."

Hakuna nodded to Tuli, then ducked her head to give the top of his head a quick lick. "Good evening, Tuli." It wasn't a surprise to see him up. At least he didn't wake up in the middle of the day like Ellie had...Her second daughter had caused her all sorts of headaches because of that. "Did you sleep well?"

He glanced back out over the ground, and purred slightly, "I suppose. I keep waking up randomly throughout the day, mother. I generally have tried to fix it....however...." The cub shrugged, pawing at his own ear, "My visions seem to wake me less in the day time." His tail flicked back and forth, eyes flickering shut for a brief moment.

Hakuna sighed, nodding. Some gifts, unfortunately, came with a price. "I wish there was something I could do to help you sleep better." She really did love her cubs, and wanted the best for them. But...it was hard when two of them had abilities she didn't. She didn't know how to be more than a listening ear for it.

He nosed her shoulder, and purred softly, "Don't worry too much about it, mother. I do not mind them so much as I did when I was younger." He moved so his flank was pressed against hers, "I love you, mother. And you do enough listening to me when they get too much."

Hakuna still felt a little powerless, but she smiled slightly for her son. "I love you, Tuli. And I am glad that I can do something for you." He was so serious for his age, even for a demon. "Have you given any thought to what path you want to take in life? The time for you to choose a direction will be soon."

He nodded, "I have known, since I was younger, mother. I wish to take the path of a Tu'azan. I think it will fit my nature well, and I will do the most good there." He nodded slowly, thinking again about the path he'd chosen. Yes. It made the most sense.

Hakuna chuckled, nodding. "That is a good, needed position. And you've sound reasoning for it." She leaned down to nuzzle him slightly. "We've another Tu'azan in the family. Though his reasoning for it is a bit different than yours."

'Tuli looked over at his mother, frowning, "There is another? Who?" He didn't really get around much. He'd do what he had to, but people....other than his mother, father, and uncle....he had a hard time with them. "And what is his reasoning? He asked, now curious.

"Your nephew, Domefae." She shifted so she could lay down and be closer to her son's level. "Nyota'angavu's darkly colored son. And his reasoning has to do with something he saw when he was younger. He saw something that...quite frankly, disturbed more than a few of us in the pride. And he decided that he wanted to make sure such a thing could not happen again."

Nephew....He had a nephew...Well, that was more than likely, however odd to hear. Looking out over the horizon again, he seemed lost in thought for a moment, "Likely, it is something I would not wish to hear, so I will not ask. But I have Seen enough things in my mind that I know that this is the right path for me." He sighed, "And I do not like some of what I See."

Hakuna nodded. "It is one of those moments that is not a proud thing in this pride." She echoed her son's sigh. "There will always be things, I suspect, that will go wrong here. It's inevitable with two different takes on how a demon should be, on how we regard non-demons. But I know you will do your best to be a good Tu'azan."

He licked her ear, "Yes.....Well, I will attempt to do my best at mediating the problems of my prides-members." His tail flicked back and forth, agitation in his mind. Tuli's eyes gazed down, "Mother...I promise you. I will always look out for the family." He was very serious, "No matter what."

"I know you will. You're a good son." She was proud of her newest litter so far. They all did something that helped her smile. Even Jr. "Don't forget to look out for yourself, too."

He nodded, "I will, mother. I can look out for myself easily. It's only right to look out for you, my brothers, and sisters as well." He smiled, a soft, distant look that didn't seem to be more than just a light smile of promise.

Hakuna turned her head to watch the sun finish sinking below the horizon, her heart lighter. Even Letum was content, her demon nothing more than a content whisper in the back of her mind for the moment. This...gave her a little hope.
