There were days that Liraz felt as if the weight of the world was resting on her bony shoulders, but then there were days like today that she felt as if she were capable of doing anything her little heart desired. She could fly, she could run, she could yell and jump and rejoice. Today was a day that her sickness didn't flare up and she could move with ease and walk without worry that she would be crippled by a sudden cough or a burning in her joints.

Of course, Liraz realized that she couldn't run or yell or jump. Liraz knew that her illness was always there, sometimes it was like a snake that patiently waited under a bed of leaves before it found the perfect time to strike. Despite feeling as if she could conquer the world, Liraz still treated her body as she always did. There would be no use in running around gleefully today if it meant she would be holed up under the watchful gaze of her mother tomorrow.

Like she did each morning, Liraz escaped her worried mother and siblings and found herself a nice little spot to rest. The sun was warm, the sky was blue, and Liraz was happy.

She still wasn't supposed to be old enough to be visiting the sick, but she had begun to follow the healers around, then creep back on other days to visit and chat with those who didn't get out much. It only seemed the nice thing to do, since she couldn't yet do anything to alleviate their pain. Today she didn't have anyone specific to visit, but was wandering through the dens, greeting those she saw and letting her paws take her where they would.

Apparently where they would was to Liraz. She'd met her only briefly before, but knew the other young lioness was about her own age. Deciding it was time to make friends rather than just a nodding acquaintance, Haruma headed towards the similarly colored cub. She chuffed a soft greeting as she approached, so as not to startle Liraz with her sudden appearance. "It's such a nice morning, isn't it?" It was a blessing that their pridal lands were not prone to drastic weather for the most part. It was as if nature herself took pity upon the diseased pride by giving them more sunny, gentle days than not.

With the sun leeching into her bones, warming her joints and muscles, Liraz had a perpetual smile on her muzzle. Today had been the best day in a long, long time and Liraz was so happy. Her heart was full of joy for reasons that she couldn't put a paw on, but it didn't matter. Life was good. She had a family that loved her, friends to call her own, a pride that looked after her as best it could. Life was complete.

Her ears swiveled as she heard the soft greeting and curiously she peered towards the newcomer. She looked familiar in a comforting kind of way. Liraz couldn't place her face but she figured they must have met before. It didn't matter, really. Liraz loved companionship.

"It's beautiful," she purred softly, nodding with a smile. "I love the sun, don't you?"

"Very much so," Haruma said fervently. Sun was good all around, as it usually helped some of the ill to feel marginally better. She wasn't sure what the full heat of the sun would do to things in the summer, but she'd find out soon enough. Still, for now, she enjoyed the springy warmth as much as anyone else. She laid herself out on the ground beside the other female and eyed her thoughtfully. "You are one of the sick ones, aren't you?" Though clearly Liraz was feeling very good, there were subtle hints, nuances in how she held herself and moved.

It wasn't that it mattered to her as a friend, but it did matter to Haruma as a healer. It was someone else to add to her list of those she made it a point to visit, and it also gave her someone her own age to talk to and ask about the illness. Though professionally interested, for Haruma this was not a cold and clinical thing. These were friends and family, beloved people that she needed to know more about in order to better help them. If she didn't ask and talk to them about their sickness, how could she ever help them feel better?
