Ferro-Aluminum (FA) is as advanced type of armor developed by the Miners of the Underground[7] and used primarily by light and some medium fighting machines. Similar in principle to Ferro-Fibrous armor,[2] Ferro-Aluminum provides more protection per ton than standard armor plate in exchange for increased bulk, differing in the use of foamed aluminum which also provides benefits in bleeding off waste heat from planetary re-entry.
Ferro-Fibrous armor (FF) is a special type of armor used by vehicles and Fighting machines. Utilizing a weave of ferro-steel and Gundanium weave fibers which boosts the tensile strength of the plating, it provides more protection per ton than standard armor (Standard Gundamanium,Star Slab 1,2,3,Standard), but takes up more space on the Machine or vehicle . The maximum amount of protection is not changed; merely the weight of armor required to achieve that level of protection. For a unit which already has maximum armor protection, it is therefore considered a weight-saving measure, at the cost of critical space.
Ferro-Titanium (FT) is the heaviest and strongest of the Ferro types. It made out of four plates of Gundamanium weilded together and weaved with Ferro-Fibrous and then laid ontop with a series of Star Slab 3 plates and then finally finished with a coating of an unknown silvery material that has been labled Cludanium. Only the strongest of the fighting machines can use this,and so far the only one who has a frame large and strong enough to hold it is Mograw's Tempest.
Endo Steel (ED) Is the skeleton that makes up the majority of the the machines the Martians use,with their Flying machine being the only one that still uses a Standard Chasis. Using zero-G manufacturing techniques that uniformly mix high-density steel with lower-density titanium and aluminum, the process produces a metal twice as strong per unit of weight as standard skeleton materials thus halving the weight of the chassis, but at an increase in overall bulk.
