The Daffodil Movement

So I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. Yes I know it's early, but you can all check it out if you would like.

TDM, The Daffodil Movement, is a user run event that happens every April.

This is a cancer awareness movement originally brought to Gaia in support of Long Vo (aka VO, art director and admin here on Gaia), whose father died from cancer April 9th, 2006.

The Daffodil Movement is usually held through the month of April. Traditionally during the event, users equip a daffodil bouquet on their avi to show support. The yellow daffodil is a symbol of renewal and hope, chosen by the American Cancer Society as an icon for the fight against cancer.

One of the most unique things about TDM is that we very much emphasize diverse and intelligent awareness in order to make people see just how widespread and serious this disease is. We stress that awareness is more than just knowing, it's understanding. We do this with different cancer teams that compete during the event as they talk and learn more about the type they're representing. TDM 2010 featured 11 different teams, each representing a different type of cancer.

Cancers are terrible. My sister found a lump in her breast, she's about thirty, and we're all waiting on her appoint to get a mammogram. My friend has given me hope that he found one once, yes guys get breast cancer, and it turned out to just be some water or something like that.

When it gets to April, bump this up if it falls behind so I'm reminded to equip it. I'd love to take part.

Yeah I do look like them now that you mention it, but it's all purple for pancreatic cancer this week for me.

Yeah. I loved that about them too. I love purple and gray. That was my color scheme for prom too.

Funny thing is I didn't think grey and purple went together until I made a kandi cuff for a friend and I was like wow it really is pretty. Also very cute dress there. Your cute.
