Remember that crazy lioness mentioned before? The one who brought all these cubs into the pride? Well, she bolted. Once she found out they were accepted into the pride, she took off, leaving the cubs without someone to look to. She had been their substitute mother, each child a product of abandonment or tragedy. Without her, the poor frightened cubs had no idea what to do with themselves.

They scattered like leaves on the wind into the forest, seeking shelter within the darkness from the scary, unknown pride they found themselves in.

Hearing about this, Bwana has decided to enlist the help of his fellow pride members, calling them to action. He is asking for the loving animals of his pride, single or with a mate, who would be willing to find one of these cubs and invite them to be a part of their family. Yes, he's basically asking lions to go into the forest, hunt down a cub, and keep it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the main event! All you need to do in this RP is post and interact with one another while looking for the lost cubs. You may check bushes, between legs and up tress- anywhere you can think of! Just treat it like a normal RP. Easy, right?

Periodically, I will quote a post with a cub, or leave a hint where someone might like to look. I will not lead any ONE lion to a specific spot, so any hint given will be first come, first serve! My lions will also be in the RP, but they will not be in the running for cubs.

Be careful! There are other things in the forest, not just cubs! Perhaps something unfortunate happens, or some kind of beast attacks! Perhaps you might even find a fairy!

xxxxx- This RP is open for ALL pride members.
xxxxx- Only those who signed up are in the running for cubs.
xxxxx- You may win more than one cub from this event.
xxxxx- These cubs may be ANY color or species!
xxxxx- You get what I give you. No trading babies!
xxxxx- You may keep the cub for yourself, or give it to someone else to play, but the cub MUST stay in the pride FOREVER and be part of the family that wins it.
xxxxx- If you don't participate in the RP, you can't win a thing!
xxxxx- Not everyone who enters will end up with a cub... maybe.
xxxxx- This is an ACTUAL RP. You can't just post once and wait for a cub! Interaction ill make me want to reward you. ^^
xxxxx- If you want to use this for a breeding RP, you need to post at least five times!
xxxxx- More rules will be added as I need them.

Please PM questions- do not interrupt the flow of the RP!

Bwana hadn’t expected anything like this to happen.

The festivities had been just that- something festive to encourage the pride to get along, despite the color differences. As far as he was concerned, all lions were created equal, and just because he was dunked head-to-toe in purple didn’t make him any better than anyone else. His mostly white queen was always happy to remind him of that. But perhaps he had been going about the unification the wrong way. Maybe it wasn’t the fun they needed.

It was some peril.

So maybe it was a good thing that these babies, having come into the pride during the celebration, had gotten lost in the very unknown, very intimidating forest. As he led his small band of searchers towards the rim of foreboding trees, he couldn’t help but notice they were for all walks of life within the prides. New and old, from groundlings to nobles. Who didn’t want to help and make sure innocent little cubs weren’t left out in the cold to the dangers of the trees? Yes, perhaps this was just what his pride members needed, though he felt like a villain for thinking it. Using this unfortunate accident to bond his Suka’fumo.

At least the cubs would be helped, too. It wasn’t like he was ONLY using them for his own nefarious purposes.

Once they were near the forest, the king came to a stop, peering over his shoulder to observe the small force he had brought with him. “Alright guys,” he said carefully, turning to face them as a proper king would, “this forest is dangerous and there’s no telling what all lurks within it. Even the groundlings don’t know all its secrets. That being said, I want you all to take care as you search for these cubs and make sure you don’t end up getting lost yourselves! Please mark your trails and ensure a route back out of the forest if you’ve never been in before. Even you seasoned members need to travel cautiously. If you find a cub, please do your best to make them feel comforted and safe- there’s no telling what these kids might be feeling.” He frowned thoughtfully, taking a moment to consider if there was anything else he needed to say.

“Thank you all for coming to help with this precarious situation- your kind is extremely honored to have such kind members of his pride. Now, head in at your discretion. I will be keeping an eye on as many of you as possible, so please come to me if you need my assistance. My bodyguard, Fara, will also be here for help should you need it.”

His body shifted back towards the forest, the large, fluffy lion observing the trees. It was time to get started.

Hopefully nothing went terribly wrong.

User ImageQueen Kalenda remained near her mate and husband. She looked at him as he spoke, wondering about these cubs that had managed to get lost. She couldn't help but feel a maternal pull toward them, wanting them found and safe as soon as possible.

She looked at the others. Hopefully they would find these cubs and bring them back safely. It wasn't like the queen herself could go out and look: her own cubs needed her.

Nuzzling against Bwana subtly, she listened as he spoke of the dangers of the forest. What if it were one of her own babies out there? It would be devastating to think how scared they would have been. How alone and vulnerable. These weren't her babies, but they were in just that position. She shook her head, taking a breath and trying to look as serene and graceful as ever. Beside her, Kijembe stood silently, looking out over the others, his keen, fathomless eyes betraying nothing of his thoughts, as ever.

She watched him for a moment, feeling anxious, then made to follow Bwana when he moved. She wouldn't go too far, she didn't want to stay long away from her own cubs. He knew she couldn't stay, anyway, she was just seeing them off.

"Be careful, my King," she said to him quietly, honest concern in her usually bright, mischievous blue eyes. "And bring them home, everyone."

When news had spread that the new cubs in the pride had been dropped off in the forest and left to fend for themselves Kivuli did not hesitate to take up the call to help aid in finding them. He could not stand the idea of such young and innocent lives cast into a dangerous place like the forest. Young ones were the heart and future of the pride. As they traveled, led by the king towards the forest his eyes roamed over all those who had also joined in the search. There was practically every rank form within the pride her and it warmed his heart to know that they temporarily put their ranks and differences aside to help aid these new and likely scared members of the pride.

Of course the one lion that shocked him the most among those gathered was his own mate Maua. She was not the type to usually help out with those lower than her, and certainly going into the forest was not something she wished to do now that Nyota had moved on and was no longer running off to visit the groundlings. She must have some ulterior motive to join in, none the less he was proud to see her help and hoped that the cub she found, if she did indeed find one, had purple on it or else it might not go so well. He gave her a smile and then stood silently as the king addressed them all.

Once the instructions were given they were free to begin their search. Kivuli knew this forest well, not only from having to come her often to catch his wayward daughter when she was younger but because of his own interest in the groundlings, the forest and the way of life out here. He bowed his head to the king as he passed by. "We will do our best to find them." He assured the purple lion and set off into the forest.

The forest was much like he remember it was the last time he had been here, though that was many, many months ago. His heart ached to know that the cub were out here without anyone to look after them or reassure them. His eyes scanned the ground for signs of small paw prints or perhaps tufts of fur, anything that would indicate the presence of a cub. Meanwhile his ears swiveled this way and that listening for any sounds, he wasn't sure if the cubs would be crying, perhaps calling out for help or would remain quiet for fear of attracting some unwanted attention.

Sian felt like he'd only just returned to normal in the pride. He'd left as a youth (or at least a younger adult) with his family when things fell apart, but after their passing had no where else to go to. Now back, he'd taken up the calling of guard. This was what little he had left to call home, and family, and he wasn't about to let its safety rest in someone else's paws. He'd taken part in the revelry, of course, but often found himself lingering back to watch the newcomers carefully. He didn't have anything against them. Yet.

When the cubs turned up missing it had only been normal to him. Something at some time HAD to go wrong, and this was it. At least it was something relatively mundane (like missing cubs) rather than murder or the like. Of course, the poor things probably were scared witless or angry or...something. All the more reason to find them quickly.

He peered past his king into the forest and breathed. A dark, twisting place indeed. He wasn't a guard for nothing though, and he nodded at Bwana's signal. He slipped forward with some slight noise--silence, he thought ,could scare the cubs more--and began peering low under the thick ferns and bushes for any small tails or paws. He kept a little ways off from the nearest lions, thinking to cover more ground split up thus.

This was perfect..absolutely perfect Maua thought to herself as she followed the King towards the forest - why if she wasn't trying so very hard to keep the concerned and worried expression upon her face as he spoke of the cubs misfortune she might have literally..danced. Danced with glee.

Here it was ..her golden opportunity, where she could impress the King and be granted his favor. Maua wasn't sure exactly how such favor would be expressed but she wanted it anyways...kind word, favored position at his court...even a nod would be enough to stroke her ego and her worth in front of the other nobles.

Kivuli was here too and he better put forth his best paw as well...they had to go into this forest, and find a cub..shoulder aside one of these icky colored lower creatures to do so if necessary...but she wasn't coming out without a cub! She'd look until she fell over first..and surely such dedication would gain her favor as well. She'd even brought her dratted bird along to make it help look. The beast was perched on her shoulder with a equally concerned look on its feathered face as they listened to the King speak, nodding their heads and tsking at the thought of the poor lost cubs.

More like poor lost treasure. Treasure she..Maua would find thank you very much and when the King dismissed them she was quick to head into the shadowy forest. "Go scout ahead!" She ordered the bird who was quick to wing off with a sulky look on its face while she scented the air for any hint of a lost cub.

Kamau had only recently joined the pride. In fact he joined just shortly before the festivities had transpired and now there was his first real challenge since joining sitting in front of him. The idea of going into the dangerous forest unnerved him a bit, yet he could not say no to helping, he knew well what it was like to be in a place that was dangerous having spent most of his lives out in the rogue lands. These cubs needed help and he would be there to do just that. He had followed along with the group in silence, impressed by the turn out of those coming to the aid of the lost cubs.

Kamau could not help but have the fur on the back of his neck stand on end when he gazed upon the forest as the king spoke. This was a place he would not normally go, but duty called him and he had answered. After the king was done speaking a few of the lions took the first steps towards the forest, Kamau hesitated for only a moment. He needed to take a deep calming breath, reminding himself he was doing this for his king and his new pride. With a last minute glance at all the others who were helping in the search party Kamau stepped into the forest. He had no idea how big this forest was nor his way around it, so he began marking his path as he went, scratching marks into either dirt or tree trunks all the while looking for any sign that would lead him to one of the cubs. The sooner he found one the sooner he could return it and himself to safety.

Borachio was on the prowl. With all the lions running about, he was sure he'd be able to see some critters he hadn't gotten to chat with in a long time. Like, for example, his little friend from a long time ago. This cute little noble how had seemed so against opening up. She hadn't had much interest in his dancing then, but perhaps she had changed?

He wondered how much she had grown.

So, as the lions split up to start searching, he moved in to hunt within the masses. It was nice that they were looking for cubs, but he was kind of hoping he didn't find one. He was much too free to be a single parent! If he did have cubs, he needed a lady with him to help look after them.

Melda sighed softly. How terrible! Cubs lost and scared in the forest. If there was anything she could do to help, she would. With her litter grown, she was ready to have more cubs. Still, she knew she had a lovely mate who could help produce another litter if she ever wanted to be a mother again. These cubs, though she wanted them found, could find happy homes with other loving families.

Unless her mate wanted to find one. She would have to ask him about it, assuming she could ever find him with all the chaos going on. In the meantime, she sat by the edge of the forest, watching the others as they started to search for the missing babies.

Good luck to all of them.

Fara sat still beside Bwana, letting the kind give his address as he waited for the hunt to begin. Stoic, he made no show of his thoughts on the matter, as though he simply didn't care that there were cubs missing in the forest.

They would be found. Why did he need to worry?

He turned his eyes away from the kind once Kal started to speak to him, giving the two their time alone. His eyes came to rest on the strange black lion not too far away. This guy... Fara didn't trust him. What was his story? Where did he come from? Why did Kal want him around?

He didn't like it- not at all.

Parisette had been amazed when she'd gotten word of the cubs being lost. It was just...so dramatic, she thought, that something should happen like this at their festival. She loved festivals – but she also loved the drama. She thrived off of it. Perhaps months ago, she would have been ecstatic that this was happening, but things were different now. She was a mother, amazingly. Her four babies were tucked away somewhere safe, as she had refused to let them come with her. They were only young, after all! And they were more likely to get lost then actual help find someone as well.

She blamed her new cubs for her maternal instinct which ate up her usual thril of drama. Instead, she was left anxious when her father finished his address to the pride and motioned for them to enter the forest to search. As a youth, Parisette had been fascinated with the forest, and had wanted to sneak off into it – but knew her father would be less than amused if she had gotten lost, much like these cubs had. As an adult, she had been in a little ways, but to her horror, had always turned tail and left fairly swiftly. Well, she was an adrenalin junkie, she wasn't stupid!

Giving her father a small smile, she slipped into the forest. She was comforted that there were others around if she did get lost, and that she actually had a purpose – saving cubs.

As she moved, she spotted a familiar purple pelt and resisted – barely – the urge to run and tackle her brother Borachio like she would have as a cub. Perhaps it wasn't the right time, she thought, with a slight sigh. Concentrate, Parisette! She thought to herself, scanning the forest area, her eyes trying to spot any sight of missing cubs.

Hinekiri stood waiting for her father to finish his speach. She eyed the crowd around her, there was many there, some she knew some she didn't. Though she knew that all ranks and all sorts were our her waiting to go into the forest and find the missing youngsters. She smiled when she saw some of her siblings there as well. She knew that he family was kind and it warmed her heart to see that they had also come out to find the missing babes.

This mission was particularly close to Hinekiri's heart. After all when she was not much more then a cub her mother had died and the bright blue lioness had been leftr alone in the den that she called home to die. If it hadn't been for her father coming and saving her bringing her back to his home, should have died. Now it was her turn to pay back the favor. She tried to keep her head clear, she was a bit of a timid lioness and the thought of going into the forest was a little daunting, but she knew what she had to do.

Once her father had bade them all good luck. Hinekiri went forth with everyone else. She tried to think as if she was a cub again. Keeping her head low she kept her ears perked. These cubs were bound to be frightened, they were lost in a strange place all alone. She wasn't intirely sure where to look but something inside of her told her too keep looking near the ground, the lost were only young after all and perhaps they would have hidden in a bush or an hollow log.

As she seachered Hinekiri tired to stay aware of her surrondings, always trying to ensure at least one of her fellow pride members were in her eye sight. She didn't want to add to the pride's worries by getting lost herself.

The search went on in relative silence for a while, aside from the noise of countless others beating the brush in an attempt to find the cubs. Snapped twigs and grumbled complaints at the dense foliage filled the air with a muted hum that swelled and faded in waves. At least the cubs would be caught by surprise. Maybe that wasn't such a good thing, now that he thought about it.

Once he caught a glimpse of something blue between two trees, and he started, but it turned out to only be another adult in the hunting party. He knew of her, one of Bwana's...older children. "Hinekiri, is it?" He called to her, noting her slightly timid look. "Do not be afraid. The cubs need us to be strong now, and find them. You will not be able to wander far from the sight of the group, but still take care."

He grumbled and thought a moment. Well why not pair up? It beat the purpose of his splitting up idea for covering more ground but...well with four eyes they could look both left and right at once, and it'd take less time than checking both sides of the little path between the trees. "If you would like, perhaps we can work together?" If she said no, that would be fine too. He'd keep a discreet eye on her no matter the answer.

Gali inclined her head respectfully when the king finished speaking, but quickly lifted it and entered the forest several yards behind her mother. She stared at the noble female's back with eyes both hard and wary. Her mother always had her eye on the prize. The female's barked order at her slave proved that to Gali and the younger female shook her head slightly and dropped her eyes.

Mother.

The forest closed in on Gali and she quickly chose a different path than the one her parents were carving. The fern here was broken. She couldn't be sure it wasn't from a groundling-- she was no hunter, really-- but it was the first clue she had and she would follow whatever the forest presented to her. The thought that she, an adult, could get lost in the forest didn't even cross her mind. As long as all of the cubs were found safely and were paired with an adult, everything would be fine.

She followed the path until the signs of broken plantlife abruptly stopped. Gali stared at the last crushed leaf and then lowered her head to the ground to see if she could pick up the scent of lion or not. It was possible she had been chasing a groundling after all.

Sounds of other searchers assured her that the other parties weren't too far off. She had to keep moving, but she would do it carefully so that she wouldn't disturb potential clues. When Gali lifted her head, she paused to scan the forest with her burgundy eyes as her mind gently turned over the problem in her mind.

They are scared cubs in new surroundings. They would run, without thought. But what then?

Bwana gave Kal a rub, secretly pleased that she wasn't going into the forest- he didn't like the idea of her going into such an unknown, spooky place, even if he, the guards, and the rest of the pride happened to be nearby. She should be in the den with the cubs, making sure they didn't go wandering off while daddy was out. No point saving these cubs, only to have theirs get lost as well!

"When am I not careful?" he huffed before letting his attention fall on Kivuli. Smiling, he nodded. Yes. With so many helpful, concerned lions, things would be fine. Though... he wasn't so sure he liked how many of his own kin were there. The father in him worried for their safety, while the young man in him felt they were still much too young to be getting cubs! His worry primarily fell on Hinekiri, who had been through so much already. Should something else happen to her...

Thankfully, it seemed she was soon approached by another lion. One of the newer ones- Sian, if he remembered correctly. Borachio and Parisette seemed alright, too, for the moment, giving him a sense of calm.

So far, things seemed to be progressing well. Hopefully soon, the cubs would start to show up. He moved into the forest, deciding he was too interested in helping out to sit back and do nothing.

Yhina listened as their king spoke, she had a look of intense concentration in her eyes but was also incredibly terrified of going into the woods alone. She had never been down in the forest for more than a few minutes so it was an unfamiliar place for sure. On top of the fact that she was alone...

She wasn't a cub anymore and realized if she wanted to move up in the ranks she would have to help in these sort of pride-wide efforts more often. Yhina pumped herself up mentally before making her way into the big... scary... well, more like terrifying forest ahead of her.

Ehh on second thought safety came before anything else in her eyes. Maybe she could find someone to partner up with.

Citro on the other hand had been looking around at the crowd of lions that had gathered around, not paying as much attention to the kings words as he maybe should have. There really was quite the color assortment to be had; LOTS of purple of course but the lions he had brought in and his bright yellow self didn't stand out as much as he thought they would in the crowd.

His day dreaming had been cut short as everyone began to move forward. He had just gone to look for the cubs in there before alerting Bwana that they were missing, and finding a small cub in the brush was a much more intimidating task than he had originally thought. Seeing so many lions move forward though comforted him however.

As he followed the crowd, Citro started to think about all the events that had unfolded in such a short time and the image of that lioness kept cropping into his head. He hadn't taken on the responsibly of the cubs directly, but he still felt as though he should have kept a closer eye on that lioness... even for just a few days more and all of this could have been avoided.

Fahamu nudged Subira and smiled amiably. "See? We'll have plenty of protection when we're in there." As the only non-warrior of his siblings, Hamu thought that was probably a good idea on the king's part. There were a lot of females here, and it was rare for them to have training as hunters or guards, especially the noble females. And there were a lot of noble females out. He recognized several members of one family before his attention strayed back to his companion.

"The cubs will be in good paws." He didn't even hesitate when he broke into the cover of the forest, too interested in what they were doing and in his surroundings. "My father always told me that for all the mystical elements we attribute to the forest, the natural aspects still outweigh it. I don't think we'll have to worry about any fairies getting us-- unless they're groundlings." He grinned at Subira again, easily keeping pace beside the smaller female. "And we know enough of them already that they shouldn't give us any trouble anyway."

It was easy to take a day off to help a friend. He was in this mostly for Subira-- who, he thought, would be a good mother and might be a bit more confident if she managed to find and mother one of the cubs-- but part of him was dedicated to the well-being of the cubs as well. He could play uncle to whatever cub ended up with Subira, anyway. Was he ready for fatherhood? Now? Hamu's customary energy faded slightly as he looked to one of the adult noble females carving a path of her own through the forest. Maybe not yet. Not on his own, anyway, but if it came to that, he was just going to have to be ready.
