(A log between Buffy and myself) They had finally told her parents, and even if Mauwi hadnt met the parents, he really wasnt planning on it. From wh at he heard, his non-noble blood was simply not desired to them. He shrugged, blinking a little as the sun fell into his eyes. He was tired, the long day having taken its tole on the male. He had been making jewelry and painting most of the day, and he just wanted to relax. The sun was heading down in the sky, turning the sky the shade of purple he knew that the Suka'Fumo would enjoy. He eyed it, wondering what it would be like to have such a color painted upon his pelt. He imagined what his children would one day look like.. and the thought made him smile a little. He may be no noble, but who was to say his children wouldnt be born in shades of purple to rival the gods? Daizee was sitting outside the den, waiting for him to return. When he didnt return home quickly, she picked herself up from her sitting position and headed in the direction of the grove of trees that were where they called sanctuary..Even if the entire pride knew where it was located. "Mauwi, come on.." She sighed, and continued walking. Once she reached the grove, she sat, flicking her tail and waited.

Kubwa had heard the tittering rumors about the pride, rumors about a noble female taking an.. an artisan as her mate. The thought sickened Kubwa. The pride had been driven into a place that Kubwa could no longer stomach. What had happened to having pride in such a fine, royal color? What had happened to the morals that most of the pride had once held themselves to with such pride? Kubwa didn't know. She did, however, feel like it was up to her to approach this Dai'zee and speak her mind. Someone had to. Someone had to get these youths of the Suka'Fumo back into shape. There was nothing right about mingling noble blood with that of a filthy... servant! Furious now, the Elder skulked along the path that she had discovered led to the den of this noble female. Pah, some noble. Kubwa would speak a bit of her mind, that was for certain. No, Dai'zee would not escape unscathed from Kubwa's tongue-lashing. When the female was nowhere to be seen near the den, Kubwa immediately made her way to the place where the couple was often found. Ahh, there was the female that dared mate below her status. Creaking along towards the pretty girl, Kubwa gave a small barking shout to announce her arrival. "You there! You are Dai'zee?"

Daizee had become alot more sure of herself with her life, and when she normally would shy away from such a tongue lashing that she was destined to have.. She would allow no one to speak their mind if she couldnt speak hers. It was a general rule she lived by. But she had been so engrained trying to figure out where Mauwi was, that she hadnt heard the creaking of hte bones from the elder. Once that shout rang her ears, Dai'zee instantly whipped her head around. Startled, she looked around her to make sure it was indeed herself that had been called to. How did the female know her name? "Daizee?" Came the other voice from behind one of the trees. Mauwi appeared, obviously returning home from a day of work, as beads and feathers were stuck in his hair from goofing around with a few friends that day. He blinked, and cocked his head, waiting to see what the elder wanted. He slunk back a bit, letting Daizee speak since she was the one addressed. Of course.. it was really quite difficult for him to sit there and not introduce himself. "I might be. Who are you?" She asked, quirking a brow. She had become quite the topic of the rumor-mill and she no doubt had been told the story of Daizees love that was not within her bloodline.

Though Kubwa'kinywa was aging (and she liked to think she was doing so gracefully) she was still keen of sight and keen of mind. She did not miss the approach of the Artisan. His glaringly bright (and more importantly not purple) pelt stung her eyes. Kubwa's mouth turned downwards sourly and she let her disdain shine in her eyes quite obviously. No, she had never been one to hide her feelings about such things. In fact her mouth had gotten her in trouble many times before, but then again, her opinions had once been held close to heart by the previous leader of the pride.
"It IS you," she snorted, blue eyes shooting daggers at the pink spotted male. She sneered softly, shaking her head. This was just as awful as she had heard.
"I am Elder Kubwa. I had hoped that the rumors I heard were only that, rumors, but now I see with my own eyes that the rumors are based on fact." She narrowed those blue eyes at the pair, more specifically at the male, and shook her head again. "The youth of our days have forgotten what it is to be noble!" She fairly yelled, trying to keep her temper under control. "It pains me to see one so beautiful mingling with one so ... so unworthy!"

The verbal attack on the two had caught them completely off guard. Mauwi's face frowned, and his eyes looked hurt, betrayed almost even if Kubwa never had any loyalties towards him at all. Daizee looked as if she could return those daggers that were stinging her from Kubwa's. She frowned too, except she stood to face the other. Daizee hadnt been too thrilled of those who made fun of Mauwi. His family was a lovely bunch, loving and kind, and her parents were loving but judgemental. WHo was better in that situation? She liked to think Mauwis parents were in the right. Daizee cocked her head, listening and allowing the other to finish her schpeal, before she gave a half smile. She had spat about the fact that Daizee hadnt kept to old traditions. Bah. Who needed tradition? You only lived once, might as well make yourself happy.. Her tail flicked annoyedly, and she did her best to bite down on her tongue, if only to allow that elder to finish her rant and go away. Least she hoped that was how it would go. She snorted after the words stopped being spat at her and chuckled lowly. The ignorance of others just dumbfounded her to no end. "Is that so? Well I guess I should be flattered you even know of me, right?" She asked, her smile a sarcastic and irritated smile. She was capable of being snide, it was her mothers blood within her. "Id think you should be less judgemental. The pride has changed, and even if it is mostly the same, some parts were long due for a change." She said, looking at the female directly in her blue eyes. "No one is better in the heart or mind than Mauwi. I think it might be while all of you are so damn hateful against him." She growled, her words going to go further, cut deeper, until Mauwi came up behind her, his shoulder touching her hip in a calming manner. It didnt help much, but he tried to stay as quiet as he could while they spoke. Sure it was about him, and Daizee really didnt need him to defend her, but he would be here just the same. "If we annoy you," He said, "why is it you havent left yet?"

Kubwa did not even deign to answer the offending male with an answer. No, she would merely pretend he wasn't there and continue to try and talk some sense into the girl. She seemed bright enough, perhaps just caught up by this forbidden love and she'd likely been brainwashed by the male's pretty words. Typical of one from a lower rank in life, it was. Always trying to pull themselves up to the top. This one had gotten lucky enough by catching the eye of a pretty noble. The poor girl.
"You should be flattered by your own beauty, your own position in life. To lower yourself by mingling with a male unworthy of your rank in this pride, I tell you it breaks an old lion's heart. Many have given their dedication to provide you with what you have and you dishonor them all by being so stubborn!"
Kubwa shook her head and tried to offer a smile to the female. She was obviously ignoring Mauwi. To acknowledge him would be sinking to his level and she would not do such a thing.
"What of your parents? What of all the sacrifices they have made for you? What kind of thanks is this?"

She knew that the lion was judegemental, and older, and apparently had alot of the old ideas that the pride had once had. And yes, they did tend to have the same mindset these days but things were much more lax than they had been when Kubwa was younger no doubt. She bristled, trying to shake off that feeling of being yelled at. This female was no relative to her, she had no ties to her and other than the fact that Kubwa was purple, they had nothing in common. She lifted her lip and rolled her eyes, snorting a little. She caught that Mauwi was being ignored, and still that did nothing but infuriate her. She continued feeling the soft warmth of Mauwi beside her. She was a noble, supposed to have manners, and this desire to rip into the old hag was just far too great. It almost scared her. But she wouldnt allow Kubwa to see that, and she wouldnt hurt her unless the situation called for it. Mauwi would let her even if it had been a thought dancing around in her head. "I am flattered by my beauty. Ive worked hard to become what I became. I do not believe who I chose to love should be of any concern to the pride. I have acknowledged I will step down from noble status to be with him. Hes not using me to gain rank, Im using him to be happy!" She said, her voice raised a bit. But she felt Mauwi's soft nudge of a paw and she took another deep breath. "My parents? What hard work did they do exactly, miss I have no idea what your name is? What is it theyve done that was so difficult, despite being born with the right color upon their pelts? I hardly consider that a sacrifice."

Kubwa shook her head sadly. Obviously the girl was so addled by the presence of a male who didn't even have the DECENCY to excuse himself from the conversation. "As I said, my name is Elder Kubwa. And MUST you ask what hard work your parents did? Isn't it enough that they raised you and your siblings into the lovely nobles you are now? Why do you risk giving all of their sacrifices up? What of your mother? And your father? Do you think of what this does to them?"
Clearly there would be no sense talked into the female. Not with the male standing there, watching and hovering. She'd fallen right into his trap without realizing it. They were over taking the nobles! They were ripping the beautiful noble females right out from under their parents! It was terrible!

Daizee was likely being alot calmer with Mauwis presence. She knew that this older female was lucky that she had Mauwi as support. Otherwise her rage might have gone far overbounds. She shook her head and laughed before looking at Mauwi. She knew there was only going to be arguing coming from Kubwa. She had an idea, and when she turned, to rub her side against Mauwi and Mauwi went wide eyed. What was she doing? He had no idea, and he didnt like it, though when Daizee began rubbing herself against him, flicking her tail under his chin, all the while looking at the older lioness with half lidded eyes. "I wonder, if you know what passion is. I wonder too, if youve ever felt love if all you care about is pelt color. Im sorry you hate your life so much, but I do not. Whatever my parents have done for me, Im appreciative. However trying to train me that anyone not purple is bad, is completley immoral." She said with a purr. Mauwi chuckled, finally figuring out the game. Once she was done speaking, Mauwi smiled, glancing his eyes up at the older lady to gauge her reaction. "What can I say? Opposites attract."

Kubwa snorted and continued paying no attention to the male. He simply wasn't worth her time. It saddened the old female that yet another one of their youth had been turned away from their nobility by the pretty words and empty promises. Kubwa knew that it was too late for this Dai'zee. Kubwa had done all she could and now all she was getting were ugly words tainted by the filthy presence of the male. If he hadn't been there perhaps Dai'zee would have been more open to Kubwa's words, more receptive to her pleading. As it was, the male was there suffocating any chance that Kubwa had.
She wouldn't waste any more breath on the pair. No, all her words were best saved for the parents of the girl. They would need all the support they could get. They would only fall on deaf ears here.
She did not speak another word. No, she merely turned and walked away as fast as her old arthritic limbs would allow her to.
