Today was a day for relaxing, Eu had decided. The pride was growing bigger by the moment, so many souls would be searching for answers as the years went on. He'd need time to himself, time to find his own answers, if he was ever going to deal with theirs. And so, mildly uncomfortable with his lack of action, he was resting near the dens. His mother was busy, and he admitted he didn't know much about his siblings daily doings, but there were always the other families to watch. Some of them seemed to have sprung up from nowhere, so many cubs had been taken in, like Haruma herself had. The pride had a good heart. Sighing, he settled his head on his paws, his scraggly mane stirring in the breeze while he contemplated the future. They'd have cubs of their own some day.

Lawsonia Inermi, or "Nermi" to the vast majority of creatures, was rather bored this morning. With his siblings otherwise engaged in activities he didn't really want to partake in, he was at a bit of a loss as to what to do. It was a disappointing blow for the cub and while he knew what he wanted to do, his mother had very gently (but firmly) reminded him that he was much to young to be pursuing the types of activities he wanted to. As a result, the cub was hereby banned from overly strenuous exercise or combat practices until he was a little bigger.

He didn't really understand the reasons behind such silly rules either - for a start, he needed to exercise so that he could be as big and strong as the guards when he grew up! Alas, since none of the healers had yet to pronounce him as immune it was better to be safe than sorry.

Consequently, he was at a bit of a loss as to what to do this morning and it was with a heavy and world weary sigh that the disgruntled cub bounded away from his den and towards the more 'bustling' areas of the pride. He wouldn't wander far from his mother's den but he had absolutely no intention of being shackled to it either. Heh, maybe if he could get just out of sight then he could work on some moves, that may he wouldn't get told off...right?

In scanning the dens, he had noticed the little cub toddling out. It was from one of the youngest litters, whose heritage he couldn't place. Then again, heritage didn't count for much in the pride, for the most part they all acted as one family. Well, there was superiority among the immune, but that wasn't much to think about. If any of them thought themselves too good for the rest than they were simply separating themselves from a wealth of experiences. Sweet Haruma would never do that, even though she showed no signs of sickness herself. He sat up for a moment, watching the cub. Was he old enough to be out on his own? He knew his own mother had kept them close to the den until they were nearly juveniles. "Little...one?" he called after a moment, unsure how to address a cub whose family he didn't know, "Are you supposed to be out here?"

He'd been spotted! He froze immediately as the other male spoke up and for a brief time, it didn't appear as if he was going to move or respond. He hadn't really expected anyone to take much of an interest in him, after all, he wasn't causing any trouble and nor did he look like he was up to no good! His ears gave a wiggle, a twitch and then he slowly turned his head to examine the individual who had called out to him. No more than ten yards away, Eu was peering towards him with an expression the cub couldn't quite place. Concern, worry, uncertainty?

Oh hells, was Eu going to give him a lecture?

His little nose crinkled and then he finally came to a decision. He had manners and knew his place, as a consequence he sat himself down on his rump and made no attempt to move any further. It was better to acknowledge your elders (and everyone for that matter) rather than to disregard them... That way, his mother wouldn't give him a good chastising when he got back. Alas, he did have to ponder over Eu's question for a while and whether or not he was meant to be out unattended. His mother was liberal enough, so long as he didn't go too far he should have been okay, least that was his take on it. Whether or not this was accurate remained to be seen!

"Course I'm allowed out," he replied with just a touch of petulence in his childish voice. "Why wouldn't I be allowed?" he queried.

In truth Eudeyrn felt ridiculous calling the cub out. Who was he to do it anyway? He wasn't yet an adult himself, his mother could still come storming out of the den to chastise him. Well she never had before, he was the good son, but there was always the possibility. "Alright," he replied awkwardly, tipping his head to the side to analyze the possibility. The cub's mother could be right, thinking that the pride was entirely safe, he had always assumed the same when he was this one's age. "Out looking for adventure then?" he asked with a bit of a forced smile. His head was thumping, but he didn't feel strong enough to go look for a healer. He'd just have to keep his mind off it for a while.

Nermi was just a touch suspicious of the older lion and his hesitancy - he'd seen that before and it was usually the calm before the storm, the moment in which they picked the right time and then promptly chastised you until your ears rang. Naivity prevented him from seeing any other alternatives to why he might be this way, a pounding headache never even crossed his mind, though if it had then perhaps the cub would have been significantly more receptive to his queries. Alas, as it currently stood he was a touch guarded and may have elected to observe Eudeyrn for longer than was strictly polite or necessary.

"Not adventure," he corrected at last, rising to all four paws again and trotting towards him. It was better not to shout, no one appreciated that in the morning, especially the lions that didn't feel so good. When he was within a few feet, he deposited himself on the ground again and hazarded a small, but relatively impish smile. "I'm off to train," he explained and gave a firm nod. "If I don't train then I'll never be big and strong like the scouts," he continued. "So that's where I'm goin', gotta get myself ready, you know!"

Big ideas for a very small cub to be sure.
