$149.98 for an M44 with integral folding cross bayonet, sling, and two complimentary clip pouches...Too bad I can't find my camera.

Biff's Gun World has some weird sales pitching since they were selling a 91/30 with no included goodies for $30 more which made absolutely no sense to me.

Still a nice club though. I'm gonna go beat some Irishmen with me new commie shillelagh.

Wait, they told you that the standard accessories were "complimentary"? If it didn't come with the tool, oil can, bandoleer, and a couple of clips, they shorted you.

Not particularly since the M44 was resold to the shop and not imported. Meaning some redneck dipshit kept all the remaining accessories for himself.

I could've gone to G2T to buy a 91/30 but I'm not in the particular mood to deal with the owner's s**t.

M38s don't have bayonets.

Someday I've got to haul my a** up to Prescott and buy a 91/30. Never seen one for sale locally for under $150, J&G sells them for $80.

not yours, i've just been looking for one.

reason why is because they dont have the bayonets.

to my knowledge the russians zeroed the m44's with the bayonets extended, so by shooting with them folded or removed means that the rounds would be off.

not so bad really, all you gotta do is take a tap hammer or mallet or something of the like and zero the front sight yourself to how you would prefer to shoot the gun. (bayonet open or closed)

be ready for a large muzzle blast with the mosin carbine. It's the main reason I went back to the 91/30 for my range gun. That and can't stay shooting it for long with no recoil pad of some kind.

The barrel on this thing has to be smaller than 16 inches. If there's one thing I don't like about Mosins or any other ancient war rifle it's that the entire bolt carrier and barrel are all one piece.

barrel on a M44 is just over 20"...and it has a receiver that is a separate part from the barrel...just good luck getting them apart.

I took the rifle apart myself. The chamber the bullet rests in is about 5 inches and the bolt carrier and barrel look to be one piece. I see no hint of a spacing where the barrel screws in or slag marks where it's been welded.

PostPosted: Sat May 21, 2011 10:10 pm

why the hell would anyone want to ruin a good rifle like that for?

unscrewing the two would certainly permanently damage the rifle.
