'Could it really get any better than this?' Mapiya sighed contently as she gazed down at the pride from her hammock. The little ones were growing by leaps and bounds, learning the ways of the people. The pride was flourishing, lions coming in everyday to become brothers and sisters to those already numbered among the pride. Yes. life was defiantly good.
Carefully making her way down from her sleeping spot, Piya gave a quick glance around to make sure everything was neat and tidy, before deciding to check in on the various baby sitters and the cubs.
All those chosen to take care of the pride's precious young ones were fully competent, but as any adult knew, the little ones could be a handful at times. She just wanted to make sure things were running smoothly.

It had been a rambuncious morning meal in the den. The youngest charges were now being groomed by attentive babysitters or parents with the extra time to help while the juveniles took care of their own cleaning with varying levels of care. A relatively new member of the pride, Madzimoyo found himself left to begin cleaning up the mess. The task was one that always seemed daunting at first, but experience had taught him it was not all that bad once you got started.
He got caught up in the routine of cleaning and was surprised into a stumble when the Den Mother approached. "G...g... good morning, Den Mother," he managed to stutter.

Mapiya smiled brightly at the startled male, "I see you Madzimoyo, forgive me for startling you. I just wanted to check and see how you were settling in." Her smile, the easy and soothing air about her was what made her ideal for the position she held.
Stepping closer, she moved to help him clean up the area, " How are your charges doing?" She was always eager to hear about the children of the pride, willing to listen for hours to either the cubs themselves, proud parents, or the nannies that cared for them.

Zimo ducked his head selfconciously at having forgotten to use the traditional greeting. Someday he hoped it would be second nature to him as it was for others. "I'm sorry for being startled," he replied with a light laugh. "And please, feel free to call me Zimo." It only seemed right and he felt more comfortable with the nickname than the full name that he'd rarely used since he was separated from his family. "Settling in quite nicely, thank you. The cubs seem to like me and I really like working with them and everyone here."
He worked beside her as he described the slightly chaotic morning. "I'm begining to think this is going to be part of the usual routine?" He made it a question though his tone was amused.
