Avoidance wasn't exactly the word she would use to describe what she was doing now... No. She was simply.. Busy. Yes. Her job was not one to be taken lightly, after all. The defense of these lands was quite important, and she had to devote a good deal of time to them... That devotion just happened to keep her out in the sands, away from her den, and away from the male she had given permission to court her.
Simple coincidence.
She could hardly stay gone indefinitely however. And a week in the desert had already long since pushed her limits living with small catches of food, and the few suitable watering holes that could be found. She slowly made her way back into the more inhabited parts of the Firekin territory, head held high, showing no sign of the reluctance she felt. Dealing with suitors was not her strong point, and she felt a bit of embarrassment at the way she had all but fled the morning before he even had the chance to wake, not returning since.
She had agreed to give him a chance... And she would honor that, however reluctant she was to do so.
Ruby eyes narrowed as they fell upon the den she shared with the male, her footsteps slowing to a stop as she stared a moment, ears perked forward in an attempt to judge if he was even inside. But she could hear little over the strong winds that blew through the land today, and her weary body was quickly giving in to the conditions. With a silent sigh, she pushed herself forward, taking the final few steps to slide herself into the blessedly cool shade of the den, away from the scorching winds and sun.

He was a little upset that he hadn't been able to see the female that often. It was pretty true that was for sure, however on the other hand he was pretty busy himself. They both must have just been missing each other often. He had been working as often as possible he was trying to get some where with the work that he did and he was hoping that he could pul it off. But for now he had been laying in the den for some time. He came home when the sun was starting to set and now it was close to completely set, the sky was getting darker and darker and he was slowly starting to fall asleep enjoying the cool of the den around him.
That was until he heard the sound of Kibela in the den. His eyes snapped open and he pushed himself up not wanting to miss her company he was finally up at the same time that she was and that made him happy he could enjoy her company that was enjoyable to him. He stretched his paws out before yawning and speaking out to her as she got settled. "Hello Kibela." He half purred before turning to his side and spotting one of the cactus flowers that he had picked earlier today, he picked it up in his jaw gently before standing up and bringing it over to her and placing it at her feet.
"Lady Kibela, it is nice to have your company." He looked at her before smiling to her. And then laying down by her side letting her speak before he said anything else, she looked a little tired. He purred quietly as he sad beside her. There was very few times where he had with her he loved and cherished, he really did care about her it was nice to have her company, even though their were other females who were flirting with him he ignored them, he was just interested in her and that was the point.

She was quite surprised by such a... sweet gesture from the male. Well, from any male, actually. She stared down at the lovely cactus flower he had placed at her feet for a moment, gently cupping it in her paws, before her eyes found the male beside her in the dim light of their den. Kibela was unused to being courted. Her relationships in the past could hardly be considered healthy ones, after all. All two of them. One was pure violence from the male. The other coercion. This was... new.
She slowly relaxed beside the other dark lion, peering at him a moment before hesitantly curling her tail up around his form. She could at least return his gestures with some of her own. " Thank you, Iivari... It is.. nice to have your company as well. "
Carefully, she lowered her head down to her paws, lightly sniffing at the flower he had given her. " Forgive my absence, this past week, I have spent it in vigil over our borders.. " It was hardly healthy to spend such a long stretch of time in the desert, but it wasn't the first time she had done so. And it likely wouldn't be the last, either. " However.. I shall.. Take a day or two off for rest now.. If you.. wished to spend that time together..? "
He words were hesitant as she flicked her eyes up to him once again, ears pressed back. She didn't know what possessed her to make such an offer. She never took time off. But it wouldn't be so bad, to spend a little more time in the company of the kind male she had taken in.

If there was one thing the gruff female that was Iivari's mother taught him that was that if he wanted a female he really needed to make sure to treat her right. Although the male was normally gruff and a little quiet and to himself there was one thing for sure and that was that when he started to grow closer to some one he wanted to be the best he could for them. Normally when he got used to some one he opened up a lot more then he normally would.
Iivari was snapped out of his thinking as he felt her tail wrap around him. He froze for a moment before calming down and smiling. He was really happy to know that the lioness was happy to share the love that was for sure. He smiled before flicking his hair out of his eyes and then smiling. "It is no problem at all." He flashed her another grin before returning it and wrapping his tail around her and purring quietly.
"It is understandable. Work comes first, or at least in most cases." He chuckled some before sitting back some. "They started to step up my work too so I was out and about too." He smiled once again before pausing and nodding at her thinking about what she said. "Well, if you would like to spend it in my company, I would love to spend it in yours." It was true, he would really enjoy the company that was for sure." He smiled and then reached out a paw toward the lioness. "I would actually love your company. We could sleep in some and enjoy a nice morning hunt." He was a bit of an active male in some ways he always like to do something. "Or if you would like I could go out before you wake and catch you a lovely meal." He liked that idea, he could get something big enough for the both of them. "Take a nice walk in the afternoon." He offered.

Sleep. That word sounded absolutely wonderful. Her sleep had been quite troubled for the past several days, and the thought of sleeping in, in the comfort of her den, was a very welcome one. She flicker her eyes up to meet his a long moment before lowering and shutting them slowly with a humm of thought. " If the idea of doing so does not trouble you, then I would be pleased to wake to a meal in the morning. You are most welcome to wake me so that we may hunt together, however. " She said slowly, leaving the decision up to him. Though, she was sure he would be hunting while she slept in the next morning. He had most certainly already proven his kindness and care for her, as hard as it was to understand.
A slight purr escaped her own throat as he curled her tail with hers, enjoying the warmth between the two of them. She let it sooth her tired muscles and mind as she fought against sleep.
" A walk in the afternoon would be pleasing... It is a bit further out into the desert, but I know of a comfortable oasis I often visit on my days off... I could show you it. " She offered, not looking up to him again as she settled in for the night.
" For now, however, sleep... We will speak further in the morning... "

Iivari offered the lioness a smile before nodding. "I'll try to wake you up, but if you look like you need the sleep I'll head out myself and wake you up when I return." He nodded again a small laugh escaping his lips as he moved closer to her before flicking his hair out of his eyes he turned to her again with a nod. "I think that sounds pretty good, then we can both enjoy the day pretty well. He stated simply, to him it sounded like a pretty good idea. He was really hoping that the female would enjoy it too he was still trying to get her attention. He liked her a lot and he was hoping that his plan was going to work in his favor.
He was very happy to hear the lioness's purr. It made him feel comfortable. He was glad to know that the lioness was going to also enjoy the day, not only that but she was also happy right now. The purr caused a smile on his face, a rather large smile. He paused once again before chuckling standing up and moving to her side before laying down closer to her. "It sounds like a great idea if I say so myself. I love walks, and I would love to see it." He nodded happily before flicking his tail around once more. He really did enjoy the idea of it. He looked at her before leaning into her a little more. "Kibela before you sleep may I ask a question?" He asked her curiously, it was a question that had been on his mind for quite a while now. He was hoping that she was willing to answer it.

She let out only slight hums in response to his other comments to let him know she was listening, despite the fact her eyes remained closed. When he spoke more seriously however, intending to ask her something, ruby eyes flicked open, her head lifting to peer at the male. " Yes.. You may ask me something, if you wish to. Though I make no promise to answer, depending on what it is... " She replied softly, fixing him with a curious look of her own.
She wasn't sure just what the male wanted to ask her, though, it surly was something personal if he didn't ask it outright from the start. She wasn't too sure how she felt about questions of herself. It had been quite a while since someone was interested in learning about her. And even longer since she was willing to actually answer their questions. She supposed... She might be able to answer this males questions however...

Even if Kibela wasn't directly answering the things he was saying he knew that that was okay. He didn't mind at all, she was a little different but then again so was he. He didn't mind at all. He was happy to find some one that was kind of like himself. It was really enjoyable actually she wasn't crazy, she wasn't really mean, she wasn't too bossy. She was perfect and she enjoyed it a lot. It made him happy, just the thought of it gave him a bit of a smile.
He paused for a moment as he worked on the question in his mind thinking about what to say to her. He knew what he was going to ask her but he wasn't too sure of what he was going to say. He paused and thought a little more before he began to speak. "Well, I wanted to know of if you've considered us being together lately." He was hoping that she knew what he meant, he was staying in her den but he was also hoping that she was going to be okay with them possibly being more then living together he was been working his hardest to win her heart over so far he was hoping that at some point it would be offical. "I mean you don't have to answer right now but i would like to know soon." He said simpl with a small nod.

A growl of agitation left her own lips, as the words were leaving his, and she climbed to her feat to move away from the male, pacing the long space of their... her..? den. Since when had anything become 'their' in her mind..? Truly, her agitation wasn't so much directed at him as it was at herself, for her own indecision. Perhaps she never should have taken him in to begin with, but what's done is done...
" I have... thought on it. Many times. " She admitted in her pacing, refusing to look at the male just yet. " And I haven't-.. No, give me a moment. " She was sick of it, frankly, and she wanted to finally lay this question to rest. But for that... She had to make a final decision. For that purpose, she continued pacing, lost in her own thought as she weighed the pros and cons of everything that being with him could bring.

Iivari watched the lioness carefully, he was wondering if he had upset her. He really didn't want to upset her, that was what he was trying to avoid he knew that he might have been stepping on some toes but he was going to find out soon. "Okay." He responded to her talking at first. He was glad to know that she was at least thinking on it. He had his head set to her and even though there were a lot of lionesses around the pride he really enjoyed her. He really enjoyed Kibela the most.
He paused fora moment before nodding and looking down at his paws. He thought about it again before speaking again. "Well, take your time. I was just curious." He said simply wanting to make sure that they were on the same page. He was nervous but et he was excited at the same time. He was hoping for the best but he knew that it was up to her.

The pacing continued for several long moments as she vaguely listened to him speak, before, finally, she stopped, sitting with her back to him. " Fine... Yes.. That is my answer... " She finally said after a long stretch of silence. " I agree to be with you.. " She agreed, glancing back to him with her ruby eyes a long moment before she finally turned back around to approach him.
" For.. as long as you'll have me, I suppose.. I am.. unused to situations like these but I will try my best... " She hated to admit her ignorance in the matter, but it was the truth. Before Iivari there had never been anyone. Bodaway hardly counted in it. What they'd had had been very brief, and very, very unattached. She hadn't had to deal with the feeling-aspect before. Even their children she had viewed with detachment. " You will have to lead me in this... "

Iivari looked at the lioness and then smiled at her. He was surprised at her answer, to a point anyway. It was exciting but at the same time he was still a little surprised, he didn't see himself with some one when he first though about joining the pride but now he was starting to like the idea of being with her and he really enjoyed it and was really looking forward to it. He flicked his hair out of his eyes and then nodded toward her again and stood up and moved over toward the female and then nudged her gently. "Thank you for giving me a chance."
He paused at the next thing that she said. He was going to have to lead it. To a point he liked the idea but at the same time he didn't know what to think because even though he liked her at lot he had never done anything like this. He never really know ow to handle others at times. He really didn't know how to. He did to a point but at the same time he didn't know how to handle this whole company thing he was used to being alone and not with some one else. This was also new to him. It was kind of strange in a way, but he was excited.

She peered at him when he nudged her, head tilting a moment before letting out a soft sigh. Moving closer against his larger form, she nudged her head up under his chin gently, nuzzling at his neck.. It was.. comfortable. Strange, but comfortable, being with him...
After a long moment she stepped past him, nuzzling along his side as she made her way back to the furs. " Come.. it's late.. " She spoke softly, glancing back to the male a moment before settling herself down to finally get some rest after their awkward talks. Tomorrow, she would let her better process everything... But for now, she just wanted to sleep, curled against the male that had just become... hers.
