Kasi'wakia stood - hiding her anxiety - in one of the duelling rings she had watched so avidly from her rock not far from where she stood. She had dreamt of being in one, and now she was here it was as exhilarating as she had thought - but it was also very nerve-wracking. This was the first time she had ever faced Azar without it being a practice. She had been taught to fight by the elder firekin, and she had soaked up all that knowledge like a sponge, but it was still rather terrifying to face her as an adult and not a young juvenile or adolescent bumbling through the steps that came within a duel.
She was just glad that Kakek wasn't around to see her first attempt. The jerk would probably just tease her when she lost - not that Kasi was planning to lose but to be honest, she had a feeling she probably would. Azar was so much more experienced than she was in fighting, but she was going to try anyway!
She tensed her shoulders and glanced around for her teacher, knowing that she would be here soon if she wasn't there already. That'd be embarrassing, Kasi thought, scanning the area quickly just in case, if her teacher had been there to whole time to watch Kasi panic before getting herself back under control.

Azar had a lot to be proud of. A growing litter, her first one, was fully grown. Her siblings had been growing a lot too. They were all taking on their own paths and it was very interesting to watch all of them. But she knew that she was extremely proud of all of them. Not only that however her apprentice had grown. She was strong and she could see a lot of herself in the lioness. The young lioness was treated as one of her own. Welcomed into her den and her family she was close with Azar and to have her be old enough to join Azar in her ranks made her proud. However there was one more test to go. One more test that Kasi had to take before she was fully accepted among Azar and the others. Kasi had to do Azar and it was going to be interesting that was for sure.
Azar had taken her time waking up this morning. In a way as if to test Kasi's patience. She had awaken next to Khin as she did every morning. She leaned against him purring quietly as she did before standing up and making her way out of the den and toward the dueling rings where she knew that she could find the younger lioness. A smile was still on her lips as she approached. however she paused for a moment as she watched the lioness she was going to be proud. she walked to the lionesses side and smiled at her. "Are you ready?" She spoke simply and curiously to the other lioness. She bumped the lioness as she made her way down the hill heading toward the ring before looking back at the lioness inviting Kasi to join her.

(Off to a good start, Kasi.)
Kasi noticed Azar approaching at last, her anxiety almost getting the better of her, but she bowed her head in respectful greeting anyway. She followed Azar eagerly to the ring, taking her position opposite her.
"Ready," she confirmed firmly, to both herself and Azar. She had been training for this for so long, of course she was ready. She took a deep steadying breath and prepared for battle. She decided to make the first move - perhaps it would put Azar off her balance that Kasi was so eager to attack? She doubted it, but it was worth a try.
After waiting a moment, to make sure Azar was ready, she launched herself forward in an attack. Unfortunately, she miscalculated her tackle and she missed, landing uselessly near Azar and trying to bounce away just as quickly, to act as if she had meant to do that.

Azar could see how nervous the lioness was. She thought it was kind of cute. She remembered when she was that age and she did things like that. It was very nice she had to admit, there was no lying about it she was like that when she was younger. She thought it was kind of amusing that she was also like that.
She moved to the dueling right with the lioness a smile was on her face, she moved toward the side of the ring and stretched her body out made sure that she was ready to do this. However she was a little caught off guard by the younger lioness charging to her, she moved to the side quickly and reached out a paw to strike the lioness however she missed in the process.

She bounced back away from Azar after the near miss, and tried to calm herself. She knew what she was doing, so why was she acting like a fool? She was better than this! Azar had trained her better than this. She steeled her nerves, and took a couple of steps back towards her teacher, swiping out a paw towards Azar's flank.
She wasn't sure what she was intending to do with that move. It wouldn't really get her anywhere, except hitting her teacher. Perhaps she was just eager to get the first hit? Her paw hit her teacher's flank - claws not extended to hurt but out enough that she would feel it. Kasi didn't want to hurt her teacher, but she didn't intend to fight with only the pads of her paws, that was baby-ish and Kasi was no longer a cub playing a soldier.

Azar was happy to see that the other lioness pulled herself together quickly. Azar knew that dueling wasn't as easy as it seemed at times and you really just needed to get a good hold on yourself before really going at it. A miss out of both of them was something they needed to get out of their system before really starting the fight so now that the first strike was laid it was time to pull herself together and get one back. After feeling the pain against her side she let out a small snarl before twisting herself again and reaching out her own clawed paw at the shoulder of the lioness.

Kasi tried to bounce away, but Azar's paws hit their mark and the claws slid against her shoulder, making her give a small yowl - before she stiffled any further noises. She was not going to be one of those noisy females who yowled and hissed during a duel. It was not personal, it was just fighting.
She tensed her body, keeping a close watch on her teacher - waiting for her to attack so Kasi could counter - attack.

Azar looked at the other female and watched her carefully, moving away slowly before starting at the female. She began to circle the lioness, she circled the lioness her look was very curious and stern and serious. She was very surprised to see the lioness doing as well as she did. Well really for that matter she was surprised at how skilled the lioness was and that Azar was te one who taught her. There was still improvements to make but then again Azar was still learning everyday. She smirked as she circled, waiting for the lionesses's next move.

Kasi got impatient as she watched her teacher stalk around her, her eyes staying firmly on the elder female - waiting for her attack. When none come, Kasi shifted anxiously. Ugh, she hated waiting, she mused, and decided that if her teacher wasn't going to attack, she was.
She swiped at where her teacher was, but miscalculated her speed as she stalked around Kasi, missing her shoulder by inches.

Azar looked at the lioness and saw her coming at her once again, she pulled her lips back and growled before moving as quickly as possible and swipping out one of her paws toward the lioness's side once more, her lips were pulled back in an angry face. It was hard to full a serious face when she was so happy to be spending time with the lioness and battling against her.

Kasi withheld a smile at her teacher's furious face - knowing that it was not personal, the way she scowled and snarled. They were duelling, it wasn't all nice after all. The paw clipped her side, dragging a cut down her body and making her wince, a slight lip coming to her front paw as the cut had hit her shoulder too.
She tensed her body, ready to attack but cautious about moving too far. The cut wasn't deep but it still hurt to shift her front leg.

When Azar started going there was basically no stopping her. When she was on a role that was all to it, and thats what Azar was currently on. She wasn't about to let anyone get in her way and that was basically all to it. She growled once again running forward toward the lioness and bumpping into the side of her, roughly trying her hardest to knock her over. A grin on her face as she did.

Kasi had braced herself for a lunging attack, she had not braced herself for what was essentially a tackle. The bump hit her side roughly and while she tried to maintain her footing, she had tumbled down when the full force of her teacher collided.
She rolled in the sand, wincing and casting a glance up at her teacher who was grinning. She wanted to jump up and keep fighting but she knew it was over. If this had been a life and death fight, when she was on the ground, she would have been killed. She heaved a sigh and pushed herself up into she was laying on her stomach. Ugh, she hated to lose but she was getting used to loosing to Azar - she was her teacher, afterall. Kasi would have been shocked if she had beat her first off.
"Looks like I've still got a lot to learn," Kasi remarked, flashing her teacher a small smile to let her know she wasn't going to be sore about losing though she winced as she pushed herself up, her muscles aching lightly from the duel.

Azar was glad to see that the other lioness wasn't really that upset to see that Azar had won. But at the same time she was also glad to know that Azar could still win against the younger lioness. She wasn't exactly an older lioness but at the same time she didn't want to say that she was easily able to keep up the the lionesses at Kasi's age. Her children were adults too she knew that she wasn't exactly that young anymore. So she knew that she could keep up.
She shook her head at the lioness before grinning brightly at her. She chuckled and nudged the lioness. "You really did great." she flashed her a large grin and then flicked her tail around as she took in a few deep breaths, calming down from the fighting. She paused and flicked her tail just a few more seconds. before she nodded at the lioness. "you have improved greatly, I am very proud of you." She nodded once again, she was very happy at the fact, she was very happy that the female had gotten so far.

Kasi smiled as her teacher nudged her, and practically beamed when Azar extended the compliment to her. She was absolutely floored when Azar even said she was proud. That was a huge, huge, unbelievably big compliment to Kasi, and her smile grew even larger, though she tried not to look like a complete fool about it.
"Thanks," she said, almost shyly, but her smile belied any shyness with it's familiarity and warmth. "I learned from the best," she said, teasingly and yet with complete seriousness. She was happy with who her teacher was, and she wouldn't have chosen anyone else for the job, even if she was offered a hundred times over. Oh great, Kasi thought inwardly, now she was getting sappy.
"So I hope you know I'm challenging you to a rematch some time!" She announced loftily, but with a smile. There was no way she was letting her teacher get away with beating her. She'd show her strength to Azar fully someday.
