It was a good day for Kijani Machozi. The disease was being kind to him, and merely making him a little short of breath and a bit tired. Truly, more than he could ask for from such a debilitating condition. The huge green lion padded over to a large rock and climbed on top of it, intent on sunning himself for a while. He was highly visible to anyone who approached him, and if his size intimidated them, the thoughtful expression on his face might be enough to put that at ease.
He almost hoped that someone would approach him, to ease the loneliness that was his constant companion. Normally he didn't mind it so much - but today was one of the days when he could use some company. Unfortunately he was so hesitant in reaching out to others that he didn't really have any options when the loneliness hit him...

Little wishes were often granted in this pride and Eppie had taken notice of Kijani from afar quietly. She could see in his eyes his loneliness and the motherly instincts she generally felt only towards the youth of the pride was slowly seeping towards him. He seemed like he needed cheering up, and nothing helped more with dealing with illness than a companion.
Eppie left the seclusion of her den (a place she had been hiding far too often lately with her children grown and the cubs of the pride growing beyond their need for her to care for them) and quietly wandered her way towards Kijani. She didn't want it to seem too obvious that her little stroll was to go see him, but there really was no other way around speaking with him other than walking directly up to him. He was out in the open, after all.
"Are you alright?" Eppie asked as she approached the rock Kijani lay on. It was probably a dumb question, since the majority of the pride was diseased and dying in one degree or another, but it was obviously she didn't mean it in that sort of way.

Kijani looked up, brown eyes widening a little as he had not been expecting to be addressed. He had been alone with his thoughts for quite some time now, and it was almost startling to have that lonely seclusion brought to an end, however temporarily. Still, it was a welcome end, and he smiled softly at the lioness who had spoken, dropping his head in a slight nod. It was a reserved greeting, a nod at politeness from one who was too used to quick hellos and quicker goodbyes - really, he didn't expect much more than a casual inquiry from anyone at this point.
"I'm well enough," he said, voice a low rumble, and betraying no trace of sickness in his lungs, not yet. He knew it was coming, but as for when... well, no-one knew that. "And yourself?" Kijani asked, brown eyes soft. Something about this lioness seemed a little sad, as well - he thought he might know her name, but couldn't think of it off the top of his head - and so perhaps she needed a few minutes' break from her private thoughts, as well.
He could certainly understand that need, and would do his best to help her achieve this small goal.
