Informations about Boxer & Rice (DBZ Yaoi)

I’m sorry if you’re receiving this message more than once, but I wanted to spread this news as much as possible.

This weekend I wanted to update Boxer & Rice which I couldn’t do before because I got major computer problem (my HD burnt). But I discovered the website was under major spambot attack. The number of account had exploded to 6500 and each 24 hours something like 210 new accounts were created.

Those accounts were all fake, and they attempted to post something like 400 messages about cars, Viagra, insurance, loans etc… Thank goodness those message didn’t show up but the situation required extreme measures.

First I installed a new plugin, so when you try to register now you need to answer a test to prove you’re a real person. Basically you need to do a captcha, answering an easy math problem (something like 3*7 = ? ) and give the nth letter of a random word.

Second I pruned most of those 6500 accounts. We’re now around 500 since I only kept 100% safe accounts i.e :

-Authors
-Artists
-People who commented on the posts.

I’m totally sorry if you were among the real people who got their account deleted, but it was the sole option I had to stop the attack.

Since I added the plugin Sunday the attack worsened since it blocked almost 700 fake registrations.

Lately I've been updating Boxer & Rice and not posting update warnings by lack of time and to avoid flooding you with messages only for 2-3 pictures or a fanfic.

But today I've major news.

If you're checking B&R often, you may have noticed that lately the update rythmn has slow down. It's because I've started spending almost all my free online time working on improving Boxer & Rice. Some of this so far invisible work is finaly ready to be shown.

#1 We switched to disqus for commenting/faving the post. So you don't need to have an account to comment. I hope more people will comment this way.

#2 I entirely redid the official art section. So now you can see more easily all the amazing scans we have. We do have some rare stuff that true dbz fans would enjoy.

#3 I entirely redid the doujinshi section. Instead of surfing through pages you now have a single page with all the infos and links to access our doujinshi and fanmade comics which are all in english. It's a good opportunity to discover or rediscover our scanlations/comics. I'm sure you probably missed a few.

First of all for those who kindly asked how they could donate. People who wants to help B&R can donate even if it's only a few bucks here.

The funds will be used for paying hosting fees bills and also for acquiring new doujinshi. I've got a serious opportunity to get B&R scanlation team working again. But acquiring the doujinshis are costly, so a fundraiser would help us fasten the project. The recent doujinshi I bought to restart the team cost me 42$ so if no one helps we'll do not many scanlations. I'll contact those who help us and give them access to the raw scans and maybe they'll get to see the finished scanlation let's say 48 hours before anyone else.

We're still working though it is invisible for now on major improvements for Boxer & Rice. But it does take us time. We need to optimize our database and reduce its size so there'll be less error message (at least I hope so) and we're in the process of cloning B&R so we can test new plugins without messing up everything on the main website. In other words we're working hard even if you're not noticing changes right away.

Last but not least I posted a very exciting preview of Aethermd first Yaoi movie. It's simply amazing. The post will be updated several times as he adds scenes and fix bugs and stuffs. Please comment on it (as well as on the fanarts and fanfics) to let us know what you think of it. Just so you know we might actually go for a second movie.
