Win me! This is the little girl you can win. Since she is half lion she can get the disease that runs rampant in the pride. Her mother is immune and she is half leopard so she might have a better chance than most. However, please remember that most of the lions in the pride are diseased or carriers. Immunity is supposed to be rare, so if you want her to be immune you better have a very good reasoning behind it.

The FamilySaskiranel is a Guard of the Kitwana'antara, and one of the few lions who is completely immune to the disease that plagues the pride. When Mel, an Apothecary, requested permission to leave K'A lands in order to collect rare herbs, Saskiranel was asked to accompany him. While they were in the Rogue Lands, the two ran into Hantan'gang and while Saskiranel made sure to keep Mel away from everyone, she slipped a little concerning herself. The end result is that after Mel and Saskiranel returned to the K'A, there was a new litter of leopons. Hantan'gang followed the two lions and periodically shows up on the border to see and spend time with his cubs. The Mother (mouselet)Saskiranel of the Kitwana'antara is an immune Guard. She's a deadly fighter and can be a stern teacher, but she loves her cubs dearly. She doesn't get to spend as much time with them as she'd like to, thanks to her duties, but when she's with them, she's happy to teach them anything and everything they'll need to know. The Father (Annchen)Hantan'gang usually describes himself as a wanderer, and he's not really interested in settling down in a pride. He was raised by his mother and left her when he was an adolescent to win a territory of his own. So far he hasn't settled down anywhere but this doesn't really bother him, since he likes to travel. Hantan had heard of hybrids before (and even met one), but he never really expected to father a litter of them. Or to score with a lioness for that matter... He miiight freak out a little at first, but he will come by to visit now and then once he think things through. The Eldest Brother (Pearlyblue)Shogahamaki - not fertile Shoga is a responsible little boy, who takes his role as oldest brother very seriously. He tries to take care of all his siblings before himself, but he likes to act stern and "big-brotherly," so he can be percieved as an annoying busy-body, instead of the kind-hearted little samaritan that he is. The Elder Twin Brother (Ecavi)Shulinav is easy-going and almost always a follower. He rarely puts forth his own ideas, except to push others to make decisions or plans for him. An unfortunate side-effect of this is that he is a hypochondriac despite being immune. All of this is especially true where Hashiel is concerned: Shu often mirrors the emotions and health of his twin. The Younger Twin Brother (mouselet)Hashiel's goal in life is to become a Nanny. He leans heavily on his twin Shulinav who is much healthier than he is, but pretends to be as ill as Hashiel. He loves his twin dearly and becomes nervous when they are separated for an extended period of time. Hashiel is a carrier with good days and bad days. His favorite "trick" is to cover his tailtip with mud and pretend that he's Shulinav.

PromptsPrompt 1: "Your mother is immune and therefore allowed to leave the pride grounds. In fact, sometimes she *has* to leave the pride on orders of the queen. Your father is a wandering leopard, he visits from time to time (and he always has new stories about the world outside), but most of the time he is somewhere else. You are not allowed to leave the pride at all. How do you feel about this?" Prompt 2: "What do you want to do when you grow up? (or should I say, if you grow up)" Prompt 3: "I'm a rebel and I'm making my own prompts!" Rules Do you guys really need me to restate these?
1. Follow Gaia's TOS. 2. Don't be a sore loser. 3. The cub MUST remain in the Kitwana'antara and thus obey all K'A rules. 4. Do not play the rest of the cub's family in your response! Annchen and mouse really hate godmodding. 5. More if necessary.
FAQ Q: Is the contest girl fertile? A: No. Only Hashiel is fertile.

Here, let me try! Name and meaning (optional): Hanzila (road; path – African) Desired rank as adult: Bard
Infection status Diseased – a rapid onset into the first stage as a cub, but lingering between there and beginning second stage for a long time before eventually worsening after she’s hit adulthood.
Short personality blurb: Zilly has always dreamed of leaving the pride’s lands and going on a long journey to see the world. Unfortunately, since she is stricken by the disease that plagues the pride, this dream can never happen. Instead, she makes up stories about what the outside is like – sometimes based on things she’s heard from others, sometimes wild tales spun completely out of her own head. Some of these stories can be outlandish and downright unbelievable, such as places where the water is purple and lions that have hooves like gazelles, but to her they are just as plausible as the more mundane locations that newcomers to the pride have described. She can always be found talking, as long as she has the breath to do so.
Prompt number and response: Prompt 1
Mama was gone again. Not just gone-to-watch-the-borders gone, or gone-to-visit-someone gone, but gone-outside gone. This happened sometimes, and Zilly hated it each and every time. She wanted to go outside the pride’s lands, to see what the world had to offer, to wander until - until her paws fell off or she fell off the end of the world! That was something that could happen, falling off the end of the world. Zilly knew it, but she would never prove it.
She could never prove any of her stories, because she couldn’t leave the pride, not like her Daddy who lived outside of the pride's lands and could go wherever he wanted, or her Mama who left when she needed to. The leopon cub released a fussy yowl that degenerated into a coughing fit, and hit the ground on her belly with a ‘thump’. It wasn’t fair! It just wasn’t fair, that she would be denied what she wanted the most out of life, just because she was sick. This place was boring, and sad, and everyone was always sick or dying or... or gone.
Zilly wanted to go to another place – a place where leopards could swim like crocodiles, and lions weren’t sick; a place without coughing, where everyone was happy and always had the energy to play. She knew it was out there, somewhere, that place and every other place she dreamed of. But she would never get to see them, because she was stuck. in. this. place!
”It’s not fair,” she complained to no-one in particular, her bright eyes filled with tears as she gasped for breath and pawed angrily at the ground. “I wanna go with Mama...”
It wasn’t fair. Life wasn’t fair. Not here, not in this place.
But at least she always had her stories. Resting her head on her paws, the leopon cub curled up for a moment, resting for a few minutes before she climbed to her paws again and trotted off to look for her siblings. Perhaps her brothers would like to hear about the place where hyenas were bigger than lions!

Here, let me try! Name and meaning (optional): Bhaṭaka hārṭa, or just Harta for short. It means "Wandering Heart" in Hindi. Desired rank as adult: Bard Infection status Currently Unknown (there's a reason here) Short personality blurb: Harta is energetic, a quick learner, highly imaginative, and more stubborn than a bull Water Buffalo. While she loves to roam the pridelands and practice hunting on anything that moves, she will stop everything to listen to the Bards- and her father. She has it in her head that she is immune, just like her father, to the plague, and wishes to be like him (in her idealized mind)- roaming free of any boarders, exploring the world, and bringing news back, sometimes, to home. She's a nice enough cub, they say, but her heart strays too far from her pride. Prompt number and response:#1 and #2: Harta leaped around the rock before her, chasing the terrified little mouse in circles- around and around and around and around- before the mouse finally darted into its hole and away from the seeking paws of the cub. Tail lashing, Harta jabbed her paw at the hole, ineffectually. With a huff, she stomped over to the other side of the rock to stare out towards the border.
Her mother was out there. She'd left this morning on another trip of some kind, giving her cubs a quick lick goodbye and then wandering off. Immunity had it's advantages- you could go to the outside world. Papa said that there were places where lions had never been infected, where leopards run through forests all their own, where the Gods tread with gentler footsteps... Harta could see it now- as she stared out across the lands. There, the Goddess of Healing was walking among cubs to make them better. There, the Goddess of Conquest leads a pride into new, untamed lands. There, a lion cub gambles along a river bank while his pride looks on in peace and good health...
Tail flicking, she recited some of the stories her papa had brought to her, eager to pass them on to the others who were too sick to move very far. It was whispered that, perhaps, Harta was immune- like her mother, like her father. The more cynical ones said she was only a carrier and that's why she hadn't yet shown the signs of the plague in her young body. Most, simply thought that she was too young to decide if she would take the plague or not. There was even a lion or two that would turn their back on her when she came by- they seemed to think it unsightly that she should be so energetic and happy to tell them stories of the world out there, where the plague was never known- stories her papa brought her...
Perhaps, when her mother came back, she would ask to hear about the prides close to their own lands. Maybe, if her mother knew that she wasn't infected, the King and Queen would let Harta go visit the neighboring prides! She could be a grand huntress and bring back tales of the great beasts she'd hunted, or perhaps she'd be a spy! She would go to other places and bring back information to the king! Maybe... she could be a bard and bring tales of the world to all those that were too sick to see more than the place they slept so fitfully....

Here, let me try! Name and meaning (optional): Hekabe - Greek mythology name of the mother of Kassandra and Polydoros Desired rank as adult: Healer Infection status Diseased: The sickness strikes her as a juve but it remains in the first stage and is easy to deal with. She passes through Adol into adult with no deterioration. But before she hits middle age she goes downhill fast and will die. Short personality blurb: A lively and inquisitive cub she most certainly makes up for her twin-brothers lack of energy. She makes fun of Shulinav endlessly for acting weak when he is fully healthy, but is fairly protective of her sick siblings. Even when she is stuck down with it herself she remains optimistic but is very realistic and doesn't expect to grow old. Her main goal in life is to live is a full one and leave behind a lot of happy memories for her friends and family. As she is infertile she is less interested in finding love as in being the best friend she can be to others. Once she is your friend, she will defend you utterly, and will do almost anything for you. She decides at a young age, soon after getting sick, to apprentice to Eva'raja as a healer, so she can help her friends and family as much as she can, while she can.
A future idea: Once she grows she will be blindsided by love, and fall utterly and helplessly in love with a fellow pride member. Unsure if they will be immune or diseased, but they will be fairly healthy and will become her constant companion. This is true love, the kind that makes the rest of the pride go 'awwwww' when they walk past in obvious blissful happiness. The pair are perfectly suited to each other and everyone thinks their match was gifted by their goddess. Then she gets sick and within the month she is den-ridden and barely clinging to life. She has a day's remission where she and her mate slip away from the pride's main area and go out to a secluded spot to watch the sunset together... there she finally passes away in her mate's paws. Prompt number and response: Flopping down on the warm backed earth, the young female sighed heavily, ears pressed flat to her head as she stared out towards the pride's boundary, a place she had never seen but knew was there. Her mother had gone again, on some errand for their Queen, and Papa hadn't been to visit for a little while. It left her feeling lonely and a little depressed as she missed her mom when the lioness went away on these trips. She often worried that the lioness would one day not return, hurt somewhere where no one could help her.. or stolen away by some big bad bogy monster in the night.
Suddenly a noise to her left caught her attention and she glanced over, just in time to let out a squeek as another cub, somewhat older than her, launched his brown stripey self at her body. Giggling she squirmed out from under him then instantly latched onto his ear. "Ah 'ot 'ou!" She crowed, voice muffled by the flap between her teeth. The lion cub was one of the youngest sons of another of the pride's Guards, Sliabh. This one was either Lochlan or Utpala, she couldn't yet tell the twins apart and sometimes she swore they would deliberately switch places to confuse her even more. But she just treated them like the same cub and so far she had escaped the worst of their pranks.
The two cubs tumbled for a time, playfully boxing each other until Loch-la (as she had ended up calling the pair of them to save confusion on her part) cried 'Parley' and went limp under her. Giggling she stood and let go of his tail as he grinned up at her, both of them rather out of breath. Loch-la scrambled to his feet and shook the dust from his fur before turning to her expectantly, which made her blink a little nervously. Was this another trick of the twins? But no.. he only asked if she wanted to go see his father who was due to return from patrol for the midday meal. Grinning she agreed and together the pair of them raced for the main cubby play area, which was where Sliabh always came to check on his plethora of cubs. Hekabe liked the large, silent guard. He had the same job her mom did and he always returned to the pride, so she knew her mom always would.
Eagerly she raced Lock-La down to the play area and started to tussle with the other cubs there, her worries done for the day.

Sorry if it's too long, my muse was just like "...OHAI." XD
Here, let me try! Name and meaning (optional): Ukwamukela (“Acceptance” in Zulu) Desired rank as adult: Apothecary Infection status Diseased (Will not appear until almost an adult) Short personality blurb: Ukwamukela is a lively little thing, a lighthearted and optimistic girl. She loves to dig in the mud and wrestle with other cubs. She accepts all, diseased or immune, in any stage of illness, as her friends When she wants to or when something interests her, she has unbreakable concentration, be it on a task, idea, or a person. Her favorite thing to do is laugh, and she also enjoys making others laugh. As she grows, her humor with also gain wit, impressing people with her sharp intelligence, but never sharp enough to lose her title as a sweetheart. She is reverent, though, of all that goes on in the pride. It is a saddening place to live, but Kela does not let it depress her, and she is fiercely loyal to the Kitwana. Instead, she respects, but doesn’t fear the disease and its victims, letting it make her compassion and love for her pride grow.
Kela will entertain the idea of being a scout or a spy until late juvehood, but she loves her sick pride too much to leave for long periods of time. She wants to help her fellow members and give them comfort, but she’s a little to squeamish to be a healer, so instead she will be an apothecary. She has always loved digging in the mud and tasks that require patience and knowledge, she will very happily make “prescriptions” for others, determined to be a bright spot of hope in a pride that so badly needs it. Prompt number and response: #3- Making my own! Prompt: You find out you are one of the diseased pride members. When and how do you realize this? How do you take the news?
Kela’s body shook with a few deep coughs. She sighed when she was finished, resting her head on her paws. Kela hated having colds. They drained her energy when she wanted to be out with her friends. Still, so many in the pride had it worse. Kela was considered immune, and happily so. She’d never been sick, having only one or two colds as a cub that lasted for a day. She always had plentiful energy, and always looked as healthy as her eldest brother. Unfortunately, the apprentice apothecaries, almost full-fledged adults now, had been digging for herbs the other day, when a huge rainstorm hit. Many of the susceptible adolescents had a worsening of their symptoms the next day. Even carriers and those like Kela seemed to suffer some downgrade in their health.
Although… Kela didn’t remember feeling quite this tired before. She’d contracted a fever this time, too, which had never, ever happened before. Despite only having a cough and runny nose left over now, Kela still wasn’t back to her normal self. She’d felt fine this morning, but after lunch had lain down for a quick nap. to regain her energy after mixing some poultices. Now the adolescent leopon stretched, getting up to continue her day, feeling better and realizing she must still be recovering. As she left the den, she rolled her eyes as she heard the twins coming back, Hashiel sneezing all over the place with Shulinav following seconds later. Sheesh, her brothers… Kela froze. Her cold had been like one of Hashiel’s worst days. ‘Maybe I’m not immune after all,’ she thought to herself, not all that perturbed. A carrier still wasn’t sick, at least not fatally so. ‘I guess I’m probably just a carrier with good health. I should probably go get a healer to confirm it either way, though, to be responsible.’
An hour later Kela stood in front of her den again, not sure how she had arrived there. Her mind was still in shock from her examination. She had always lived her life as if she was immune. After all, her mother was immune and her father wasn’t even a lion. Her brothers were all immune or carriers. How could she…not be? The examination had begun like any other, all the standard questions and pokes and prods. She noticed there seemed to be more questions than usual and a few extra things to demonstrate, but she put it down to the fact she expressed that she thought she might be a carrier. Then another healer had been gotten, which Kela thought was probably required to revise the official medical opinion of the condition of a pride member. She thought then that she must have been right, she was a very healthy carrier, nothing to worry about.
What she did not expect was to be told she had the disease. She was to become another victim of the plague. The healers had explained it to her, something about the thickness of her plegm, the dilation of her eyes, the sudden, strong fever and cold… Kela had lost the thread of the conversation a bit. She had been reassured that she still might only be a carrier, she had to go back in a week to confirm, but they told her point blank that it was unlikely. They had somehow concluded…that she would die. Oh not now, of course, or even very soon, probably. She seemed just as strong and healthy as ever, and would live into adulthood, maybe even to old age.
Kela looked down at herself. Diseased. She was diseased. She would die. She would suffer before she died. She looked no different. Felt no different. She was the same leopon she was before. In fact, Kela felt stronger. More determined. Although she didn’t know exactly how long she had, she knew it was shorter than she had ever imagined. There were so many things to do- she had to finish her apprenticeship, become an apothecary, do research, hang out with her friends, help her pride, find a mate. ‘Well, I can’t do all that just standing here,’ Kela thought to herself, strangely calm. She started into her family’s den to break the news, feeling oddly at peace. She knew where she stood, now, and she could now begin to live.
