This guild has of course gone through a lot and has been around for years and years. I think we still have some oldies around the place.
If you've been around for, say over a year (or have left and come back) I'm wondering what has changed for you!

Some things you might mention--
Names you've gone by:
When you joined, and age:
What you were doing then as a furry:
What you're doing now as a furry:
Life in general back then:
In general now:
If AFG has been important to you, how?:

I'm not all that old, but I'll answer anyway. sweatdrop

Names you've gone by:
Garek Maxwell, as always. heart

When you joined, and age:
I think...16? I don't know for sure. I've forgotten when I joined. It's been many years though.

What you were doing then as a furry:
Porn.

What you're doing now as a furry:
Porn.

...

No, really, I draw it a lot now. My FA account is full of it.

Life in general back then:
Severely depressed, mildly suicidal, angry, irritable, and paradoxically momentarily happy if naive at times. I was in high school and planning to go to college in assumed necessity to "make it" since I assumed I would receive no support from family in the future due to being gay.

In general now:
Easily depressed, severely afraid of death, irritable, and at the moment rarely happy. Less naive now, but instead I feel similar to the depiction of "The Prophet", only instead of knowing how the world will work out, I just feel like I know how it works..which is that no one does, not even me. Fear and depression, pretty much. Graduated from college with a design degree and I'm now temporarily employed. Looking to get a permanent job in the future, but I have no time or energy for it right now...or desire when I do.

A lot has changed, but then again a lot hasn't. I'm still single and lonely. Dated more but haven't found someone yet. I sort of know what I'd like in a relationship more, but it's just not likely to happen it seems. Meh, years later I still feel like I'll be single for life. sad

If AFG has been important to you, how?:
Met my first love interest here who stayed a friend ever since, though we rarely talk these days. Probably, due to those I met and became friends with, helped prevent me from acting on suicidal thoughts. So it's pretty important to a degree for introducing me to them.

Names you've gone by: LLBane, Kristin

When you joined, and age: 2004! I was 14.

What you were doing then as a furry: Just exploring the culture. Loved the animals and art, in denial about the sex aspect.

What you're doing now as a furry: Only loosely associated with the fandom. Didn't bother going to Furcon last year even though I'm not far. I still love the weirdness.

Life in general back then: Happy, bouncy, passionate. Got very serious about track, only maintained a 3.0. As I went through HS, I was still thankful and energetic, but got progressively angrier, just holding out for the freedom of college.

In general now: The freedom of college! It's everything I dreamed it would be. I'm majoring in magazine journalism and minoring in sustainability and I'm the opinions editor of California State University, Northridge's daily paper. I've gotten at least 25 articles published and have had some great jobs in the residence halls. My whole life is college and I'm anxious to see what life will be like when I graduate in one year.

If AFG has been important to you, how?: Yes, it introduced me to furries and the art world. I still come back and lurk once in a while, and the AFG Sallies is really the only place I feel I can come when I have a problem.

Names you've gone by: Just been Shoki

When you joined, and age: 2004 or 2005 I think, I woulda been about 16-17.

What you were doing then as a furry: Just learning about it and getting an interest and finding out I like drawing furry art.

What you're doing now as a furry: Still drawing, watching the delicious furry drama, and trying my hand at fursuit parts.

Life in general back then: I was a depressed, moody, angsty teenager, like every other teenager. I was exploring online relationships. I was doing stupid s**t and working crappy jobs.

In general now: I live on my own in my own condo, am self-sufficient, have maintained a full time job for several years, got my Associate's Degree, and bought a car. I r an adult. I bit lonelier now though, but my moods have become a lot more stable.

If AFG has been important to you, how?: I've met some very lovely people here, including the man who has become my best friend. I've also always felt there was a support group for when live sucks balls.

Names you've gone by: Always been Sunegami. cool
When you joined, and age: I think I joined the guild in '05, when I joined Gaia. Can we check for that? Anywho, I was about 20 at the time.
What you were doing then as a furry: Don't think I officially considered myself a furry at that point, but I was definitely interested in anthro art. X3
What you're doing now as a furry: Went to my first con ever this year-- Anthrocon! It was a blast (got my picture taken with Peter S. Beagle! *squee* ♥) and I definitely plan to go as often as I can. Trying to get out of my art funk-- furry pinups seem like an interesting subject nowadays. . .
Life in general back then: Living with my dad & his girlfriend in Lancaster, PA, going to PCAD (the local art college), depressed and lonely for various reasons that would take a long time to tell.
In general now: Living with my hubby in Pittsburgh, graduated from AIP (the Art Institute of Pittsburgh) 2 years ago, got a job processing real estate paperwork that pays pretty well. Kind of been in an art funk for a while, but other than that I'm doing pretty well overall. ♥
If AFG has been important to you, how? It's my go-to for furry friends; I don't know any IRL, so you guys are my faves. X3 ♥ I always love the discussions that generate here.

Names you've gone by: DigitalRat, Constance Ringwood
When you joined, and age: About late 2004 early 2005...so just turned 16?
What you were doing then as a furry: Been a furry since 14, so I was most likely heavily into roleplay, looking into fursuiting and going to cuddle/walking parties.
What you're doing now as a furry: Making furry gear, cosplaying ,go - go dancing, rave culture, and J-Fashion.
Life in general back then: It was pretty routine for me. Roleplay after school, on the weekends, and via e-mail. I went to meet ups with a friend always in a mall or in the park. We'd take turns walking each other on a leash or starting up cuddle puddles. I was in paradise, but then dad got orders to move cross country and that ended.
In general now: In my final year of University and excited to be on my own soon. I'm getting over my fear of full head masks, so I can get on with making my first fursuit. However, I'm still just as comfortable in Slinky fursuits and stage makeup these days. I've gone for a day to my first fur con, Furry Fiesta, and continue wearing my gear to Anime and Sci-Fi cons, plus the occasional rave.
If AFG has been important to you, how?: AFG for me was a safe haven from all those fur bashers..back then. It was pretty bad compared to now. I made a lot of great friends here and I hope to keep having a good experience now that I'm back again.

Names you've gone by: Most everyone just calls me Bo.
When you joined, and age: 2004, age 14.
What you were doing then as a furry:
To be honest I didn't even know I was a furry. I simply knew that I loved anthropomorphic art and loved to draw it. It wasn't until later in my high school life that I knew I was a furry. And I've been happy throughout it all.
What you're doing now as a furry:
I've continued to draw, I have my own FA account. I draw general and mature artwork until recently. Since an condition with my hand and college I haven't been drawing much.
Life in general back then:
What can one say about life in high school? It was tough for sure. Growing up in a white neighborhood and school life, I had a culture shock undoubtedly. But it helped me immensely broaden my horizons. Of course I had my fair share of sad times being a closeted homosexual. But I had a roof over my head and a place to call home. It was enough to put a smile on my face.
In general now: I'm in college studying to major in criminal justice. Its been a passion of mine to be a person in a authoritative position that someone can trust and depend on. Who'll be there to serve those in need. If there's more you want to know about me, its in my profile if you wish to take a look.
If AFG has been important to you, how?: AFG was important to me because of how it stressed being a mature person while in the guild. So I opted to wait to I felt that I could be a more rational and reasonable person. But when I finally did join, the guild was filled with very... emotional people which turned me off to being an active participant in the guild. But I'm hoping to be more active and have a good time now.

Names you've gone by: My fist name was digi-girl55 (sadly that account is long gone now).

When you joined, and age: I joined Gaia back in 2004 (I was 13), then I joined the AFG....I think it was late 2009 (I was 19).

What you were doing then as a furry: Not a whole lot. Mostly sticking to furry art appreciation. razz

What you're doing now as a furry: Lots. Active in many communities. Now participate in drawing furry art rather than just appreciating. Make furry costume accessories and am in the process of devising and planning how to build myself a fursuit.

Life in general back then: I was in my first year of college back then, and I wasn't enjoying it.

In general now: I'm out of college but totally understand what being a Starving Artist means. -_-

If AFG has been important to you, how?: It's been the anchor keeping my to Gaia online. It provides a nice refuge from the immaturity rampant through out the rest of the site.

Names you've gone by: RevvRaptor, as usual.

When you joined, and age: Late last year, 26.

What you were doing then as a furry: Not much of anything.

What you're doing now as a furry: Still not much of anything, with some chips.

Life in general back then: Not much different than it is now, a career in writing (which may soon branch out to a different source if the people I'm currently employed with go belly-up as expected), a lovely lady in my life, a younger sister in my care who is also a former member of this Guild who still enjoys kicking the crap out of me at regular intervals.. The usual..

In general now: See above.

If AFG has been important to you, how?: Not incredibly important, but still a friendly and entertaining place to relax and chit-chat.
