The small firekin Aithne was almost always up to something. She wasn't a quiet lioness at all and she normally didn't stay in the den all day and she normally was out giving other lions a hard time. So far in her life she had been loud, bratty and hot headed but lately she hadn't been. She had been quiet, wandering around the den staying out of trouble. Staring off into the lands. She was almost always thinking and it was something odd to see this little lioness do.
She had a lot to think about though, she was trying her hardest to figure out a mystery that had been bothering her lately. She had been having dreams, odd dreams. At first she thought it was from the lack of water around the pride however she figured that it couldn't been the problem she had one of these dreams before the water was gone. That was the other strange thing to Aithne. As time went on she had more and more of these dreams. Before she had them once in a blue moon, nothing that bothered her. But it started to occur more and more. Lately she had been having them every night with out fail and she couldn't understand what was going on at all.
It was the same dream every night too. She was standing in one of the pride's dried oasis's, and a large lioness came to her. She had wings, and bright purple eyes. She knew that some of her family members had those bright purple eyes, but at the same time none of them were as bright as the ones that Aithne saw in her dream. They came in flashes. She saw bits of the dream coming together into one. It was odd and even though the little firekin didn't want to admit it. She was scared. Firekin weren't supposed to be scared in her mind! Especially not over dreams! She had other things that she had to worry about, not silly dreams.
She sat not to far off from the den, flicking her tail around and staring off into the dry desert like she had many other times around this time of the day. She just wanted to think and try to explain what was happening but no matter how hard she tried nothing came to mind.

Kidondo spotted his unusually quiet daughter, blinking curiously as he watched her. Was she weakening? Tiring? Worried? He wondered how the other young ones in the pride were feeling with all that was going on. Were they just as scared and angry as the adults or...were they mostly oblivious to what was happening? He wasn't sure which he'd prefer but it saddened him to see his children - all of the firekin children, in fact - growing up in such harsh times.
The desert had always been notoriously harsh, of course. But it had been bearable whilst everything had teetered on that very sensitive balance. Now...things had tipped and they had not tipped in their favour.
Drawing up quietly, he moved to sit beside his daughter, looking out across the desert. Strangely, it seemed even more barren than usual that day.
"What are you thinking, little Aithne?"

Aithne was very much caught up in her thought she didn't notice her father approach at all. She kept staring out that was until she heard her fathers voice. There were very few lions that Aithne didn't give a hard time, two of them were her mother and father. She jumped up on her paws slightly alarmed before looking up at her father and flopping down on her haunches with a sigh, she felt a little silly for jumping up like that but she felt sillier for her father finding her like this. She looked down at her paws before back at him. She had no clue what to tell him about what was going on lately in her sleep. She felt odd thinking about it. She hadn't heard of any other lions having these kind of dreams. Was she just strange?
"Dreams."

He tipped his head curiously; eyes widening just a little. "Just dreams, little Aithne?" Nightmares, perhaps? About the drought? About...the consequences of little water in this harsh and unkind environment? "They're just dreams, dear one. Nothing that can hurt you. What are they about? Perhaps talking about them will get them off of your mind so you can sleep easier?"
He settled more comfortably on the sand, stretching himself out over the smooth, warm ground.
For Aithne to be so...quiet. Ah, these were terrible times indeed.

Aithne looked at her paws and then shrugged at the idea, she wasn't really wasn't that sure if her dreams really were just dreams. She pretty sure that they were but yet she couldn't really say because of the fact that she didn't know what they meant if they meant anything. "Well daddy," She paused for a moment before she started to speak again. "They're kind of strange, at first they came only once in a while, well... it" She paused once again as she gathered her thoughts before she started to speak again. "But the dream started happening more and more and now it comes every day." She looked down at her paws again before deciding to take her father's advice and tell him more about the dream.
She paused for a moment then looked up at her father again. "It's these strange dreams." She paused again and then started flicking her tail around behind her and then sighed slightly "It's in one of the dried up oasis's." She thought about it for a moment making a face before she kept talking. "And it's a bright red, lion or lioness." she paused and then shook her head. "And she has wings and bright purple eyes." She shook her head and then looked up at them. "I don't know why I've been having them, it's strange." She sighed slightly and then shrugged. "They didn't bother me until I started having them more often."

"The same dream? Over and over?" An odd thing indeed, unless something was truly playing on her mind. He mulled over this information a moment, shifting on the sand with some unease. And then she continued and he felt his eyes widen a little, his head tilting in interest.
"You are talking of Finar-Si, perhaps?" Kidondo enquired. He could think of no other fitting that description, though he had never set eyes on the winged goddess himself - thank the desert! "Maybe you are dreaming off her because we spoke about her at the stones with your sister? Is something on your mind about her?"
He rumbled quietly. "You need not worry yourself. She has not shown up in a long time and I doubt she ever will."

She looked at her father and then nodded. "Yeah, I've tried other things to get it to stop happening but it's like they keep coming no matter what. I even tried thinking really hard about other things but they keep coming." She was starting to get frustrated with them to a point because she felt like no matter how much she tired not to think about the dream or dream about the dream she did anyway and she was starting to get tired of it. She didn't want to dream about it anymore. She looked at her father. "I want them to stop but I don't know how to."
She then thought about it before looking at her father and then looking forward again making a face as she thought about it. She then shrugged. "Maybe she is I don't know." she thought about it again before turning toward her father. "I really don't know what it means. I'm confused I just want the dreams to stop happening." she half pouted as she thought about it, she flicked her tail around before flicking her tail around behind her and then nodded toward her. "Are you sure daddy? I don't know why I'm having these dreams but they bother me." She thought then turned back to him. "Her eyes are scary." She stated simply she felt it was pretty true they were intense.

Kidondo shifted closer to his daughter and, after a moment, drew out a paw and wrapped it around her shoulders, hugging her close. To be afraid of dreams...of sleeping. He remembered that all too well. He'd been haunted with such things once long ago when he had been her age. But it seemed so long ago now that he couldn't really remember how he had dealt with it or how he had made them go away.
He had ignored them for the most part...and it seemed to have worked. But apparently Aithne could not ignore these dreams she was having and he felt helpless.
"Very sure. Most of the pride have no love or respect for her any more. She can have no power where her followers do not believe. Listen, Aithne, once long ago when I was little, I had similar dreams. They were filled with dark shapes of lions with glowing eyes, snapping and slathering. More ghoul than lion. I...never spoke of them. I ignored them...and they went away. Now they come only very rarely. I never really understood them, but...I have friends who did. They dwell in these lands now. Twins by the name of Ka and Kai." He had not spoken with the pair in a long time and wondered what they had been up to in recent days. "They might be able to offer you some advice? If you like, we can arrange to go and meet with them."

Aithne was happy as her father pulled her close. She knew that she gave her father and mother a hard time at times however at the same time her mother and father, in the end were the only two that she really took seriously. Sure there were some much larger scary lions that she took a little more seriously but other wise she gave everyone a hard time. But reasons like this are why she loved her mother and father, no matter how much of a hard time she gave them in the end they still loved her and showed her. they didn't seem to care how much of a hard time they give them.
Aithne looked up at her father and then nodded. she was kind of curious of why no one cared for the goddess. She wondered how bad the lioness was but there was one thing for sure and that was that at the moment she just wanted the dreams to go away but either way. "Really?" She asked as she looked up at her father before looking down at her paws. "It isn't really too scary but I'm getting scary because it keeps coming." she made a small face, she didn't like it coming over and over again. she paused for a moment. "Do you think they'll go away?" she asked curiously before hearing her father again. "We can?" She asked curiously as her ears picked up. "If they know how to handle it then I'd like ot meet them." She nodded happily at the idea, she really enjyoed that idea she was hoping that maybe they could help her.

"Perhaps, little one. Perhaps. But if not, in time, perhaps they will not bother you so much." He gave her a comforting squeeze and smiled gently. He would do anything for his children no matter how mischievous and rebellious they were. After all, for all their troublemaking, they had all done well in life. How could he not be proud?
"Then meet them we shall! They're a good pair. Strong of heart and spirit. If you like we can go and find them later on this afternoon? I was going to check on the groups of Water-Seekers and ensure they're not working themselves to death. It's likely we'll find them amongst their numbers and they're quite hard to miss."
He released her after a moment and waited for her reply, lifting his eyes to watch the sky: cloudless and blue, emblazoned with that intense sun. No rains on the horizon.

Aithne looked at her father and then nodded to him. She paused before smiling at him a little and then speaking again. "I hope they go away, i'm tired of them." She said in an annoyed voice not that happy with her dreams, she really wanted them to go away and that was all. That was the end of it, she didn't want to think about them anymore, she knew she wasn't acting like her self because of how much it bothered her and she wanted to wanted to be herself. She really wanted to be herself and be normal.
She paused as she looked up at her father a smile grew on her face. "I really can meet them?" she asked curiously flicking her tail around and almost dancing back and forth on her paws, happy that she was going to be able to. She was mostly excited to get a hold of some one she might be able to help her out that was for sure. she paused and thought about it thinking about how she really wanted to make sure her father was going to follow through with his plans. She paused again and then paused and smiled at her father looking up at him. "Can I go with you and help daddy?" She asked, "I'd like to go with you daddy, if you're okay with that?" She asked curiously, that was something that she enjoyed to do anyway, going with her father that is she liked seeing what her parents ddi in the pride.

Smiling down at her fondly he paused a moment to teasingly mull over his response. Then, with a short laugh, he gave her a nod. "I suppose you can help. And yes, you really can meet them." He gave her a nudge against her cheek with the flat of his snout and stretched each leg in turn.
"I'm sure they'll be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have. I'm certain they'll be able to help."
More than certain, in fact. The pair, for all their odd gifts, certainly had created good lives for themselves here. He took a few steps and paused to let Aithne catch up. "Let's be on our way then."

"Yay!" She squeaked, happy, if anything to get her midn off of things for a little while. She enjoyed helping and following her parents anyway and then after she was going to meet two that might be able to help her with her dreams all of that excited her a lot today looked like it was going to be a good day, she was excited. she grinned very happy before pausing and then looking at her father and then following quickly behind him. Hopefully today things were going to get better.
