Bokkie slinked away from his mother and siblings with a determined expression. He chose a place that was close but out of sight and proceed draw a straight line on the ground – as he finished he realized he’d made it somewhat curved but he paid it no mind. It would serve its purpose just as it was.

The young cub then attempt to walk the line which might seem like an easy challenge at first glance but anyone who knew the chubby cub with big paws that faltered under his weight would know this wasn’t exactly the easiest thing for Bokkie. Walking, that is.

As expected, after a few steps, one of his front paws slid from under his body and the cub went face first into the mud. Yuck!

A rather lazy day for the family. With the whole lot of them lounging just outside of their den. Riddi had just pulled himself from the wrestling pile of cubs with a heaving chest. From his flashing eyes and bright smile, one could easily see that the boy had enjoyed himself. But too tuckered out to continue. His bliss only lasted for a moment longer before Riddi realized just how roughed up he'd become. With his fur askew and dirt dotting his flank, a frown pulled on the corners of his maw. The cub went to work combing his fur neatly after patting himself free of any excess dirt.

It was only after Riddi felt he as all primped up that the youth took notice of Bokkie's departure. Trekking after his brother, the youth silently wondered where his brother was headed off to. Watching him prepare himself the line before walking along the grove he made in the ground, it didn't take long for Riddi to realize just what was going on. Smiling faintly, the male lifted a single paw to cup at his maw, chuckling lightly. Moreso when he saw clumsy Bokkie's mistake, which ultimately caused him to fall forward into a mess. Riddi's gentle laughter lifted from somewhere behind Bokkie, but his older brother wouldn't remain hidden forever. Flouncing forward from his hiding spot, Riddi made his appearance with a flourish. Not intending to show off, even if it could have been interpreted that way. "Why are you all by yourself Bokkie?" Riddi asked, stepping up beside his fallen brother to lean in and nudge him, to help him up. "Look, you got yourself all messy..." Riddi didn't approve.

Face covered in mud, the white cub tried to stand up and slipped once again.

“Who, who…??” Bokkie asked quickly, somewhat annoyed that someone was laughing at him. One paw cleaned one of his eyes before he could open it to see who was helping him. “Oh it’s you, Riddi…” Of all his siblings, the sight of his graceful brother – who could probably walk “his” line a million times before ever he tripped or slipped – was most likely the last thing he had wanted to see at that point. Well, at least it wasn’t his father… that would certainly have made him feel far worse.

“The mud is slippery.” The cub said as he proceeded to clean up the mud from his paws and muzzle, carefully avoiding his brother’s golden gaze. It was clear he was embarrassed. “You’re not gonna tell the others, are you?”

Riddi didn't understand that Bookie's mannerisms were of an embarrassed and self conscious cub. Riddi was still at the age were compassion needed to be taught. So when his brother made his blunt comments and refused to make eye contact, the darkly colored cub weaved his head around to catch Bokkie's gaze. Brows furrowed and frowning significantly. "You don't want me to tell them you fell...?" He repeats questioningly, "Well, sure Bokkie, if thats what you want."

Lifting back up to his paws, the older brother circled the younger yet larger cub. "Would you like some pointers? That way you aren't falling all of the time." Riddi didn't wait for a response and went ahead and jumped into Bokkie's focal point. All four paws firmly to the ground, pointed straight and back delicately arched. "This is how I stttand. You should do it too." Riddi remarked matter-oh-factly. The cub was eager to do something 'big brotherly'. This was a rare occurrence where he could actually HELP one of his younger siblings. So he relished the limelight for however long it was alotted. Riddi smiled broadly, waiting for his brother to take he same position.

Bokkie's face bightened up when it appeared his brother wasn't going to tell the others he had tripped... again. His blue eyes shone like melting ice when Riddi offered to help him because Bokkie knew his big brother had by far the best abilities when it came to movement. As young as they were, Riddi already displayed a great deal of balance, coordination and even grace. Bokkie could see his brother as the predator cub that he was... while he personally very much felt like a little baby hippo, fighting his way just to get to the shore.

"Pointers? Like what?" Slowly - to make sure he wouldn't trip again and make Riddi laugh or give up - the pale cub took a few steps forward to stand in front of his brother, ready to imitate his every move.

Profound gratitude emitted from Bookie. Enough where Riddi could see it plain on his brother's face. Which further prompted the elder brother to act as a proper 'teacher'. "Pointers...uhm... you know..." Riddi slouched a bit to prod at the other's paws, pushing them into proper position. "Your paws need to be straight out! Like this!" Riddi mimicked the pigeon toed stance Bokkie was in before swiftly turning his paws out.

"Neeext you need to swing your head up high!"
Riddi's posture was perfect out of instinct. Smaller folks always kept their heads held as high as possible. Having good posture made that possible. Riddi strutted around with a posh deliberateness to each and every step. "Laaast... just swing your hips a little." Riddi couldn't quite explain that last part, so he accentuated that point by playing swaying his tush toward his brother. Once it was clear what part of his anatomy was supposed to do the 'wiggling', Riddi demonstrated yet again. Even with the little bit of a hip swing to his steps, his walking turned more fluid and made it lighter on his toes... kind of like dancing. And partially accounted towards his feminine grace.

Bokkie tilted his head as his brother spoke, looking comically focused on every move Riddi made. He smiled a little when his brother started swaying his hips with exaggerated movements for even a little cub such as himself could tell they were somewhat feminine.

“When you do it like that, it looks kind of girly. Even more than Tarmha…” he chuckled, clearly without a speck of bad intentions. “So… like this?”

Obviously, keeping his head high and swaying his hips at the same time wasn’t exactly the easiest task for the clumsy cub and Bokkie managed to take only a few steps looking up at little pieces of the sky between the dense trees above before his entire body started swaying dangerously to the sides. Honestly, it hadn't exactly been the best combination for him. “I- I don’t think… I don’t think I…”

So, unsurprisingly, after taking a few frantic steps as he attempt to regain his balance, Bokkie ended up on the ground again, his entire right side soaking in mud.

“Arg…!” the cub let out a frustrated moan as he looked at how dirty his white coat had become. “I’ll never get this right!”

Peeking at Bokkie through half lidded eyes, the cub swaggered around with an air of sophistication. Or femininity. Same difference.

Riddi flipped his head, causing the tuft of fur on his head to sweep neatly to one side. He was feeling pretty good! ...up until Bokkie spoke. Instantly Riddi's confidence deflated, folding both ears back to paste against his skull. A grimace hardly hidden as he glowered at his younger brother.

But the other didn't seem to notice, quickly demonstrating what he gathered from Riddi's performance. The older brother's frown didn't last too long. Chuckling silently as he watched his sibling's gait slowly deteriorate. Riddi didn't chuckle to spite Bokkie... but it was so funny! When he finally did end up on the ground, though, Riddi flinched. Cringing as she squinted a single eye shut and turned a fraction when the other tumbled.

"Owch..." He muttered, "Come on.. come on~...get up!" He urged, quickly to his brother's side to help him to his paws to do it again. "You'll get it right. Just keep doing it." The vote of confidence along with Riddi's assured tone should have been a good support for Bokkie. "Come on, I'll walk beside you." Helping the other up, the reddish brown cub kept pace with his pale brother, to walk along side him.

“I don’t get it…” Bokkie grumbled, looking thoroughly dejected. “It’s like all my weight is going to weird places and I can’t keep my paws in the right place.” He stood up with a tiny frown and the beginnings of a pout but his expression did lighten up considerably when he saw his brother by his (clean) side.

“Mmm..? Are you sure you don’t want to take the other side?” he asked, with a playful grin, leaning against his brother for support with the side that still remained impeccably white. He knew Riddi didn’t particularly like getting his coat dirty. ”How about a brotherly hug, hum? I have to thank you for helping me, after all.” Still, he made no move to get Riddi dirty in any way – he would probably trip on his own paws if he tried to make a quick motion anyway.

"Well, you are bigger than me." Riddi stated in a forced, unwilling sort of way. "So, I guess that makes it different?" But in all honesty the cub was running short on his attention span. He was a youth after all. And generally, they are selfish. It's a fact of life!

But it seems Bokkie picked up on that, considering he became rather playful. Putting this lesson on the back burner. Riddi might have enjoyed this 'game' as well, if he wasn't utterly horrified by the idea of getting mud on his fur! The swift change in facial expression was pretty drastic. From gentle and smiling to perplexed and mildly terrified. Riddi's ears pressed back as his maw opened as if unhinged. "Don't you do it! Don't you do it Bokkie!" He was on to his brother's game and promptly slid away from him, wheeling back as quickly as possible.

Keeping his eyes on Bokkie for any sudden moves as he clumsily stumbled backwards out of the other's reach. Riddi wasn't afraid of germs or 'cooties' or anything. But the idea of getting dirty was about as awful to him, as getting mud on dress shoes. It's just... wrong!

Because he was bigger? Well, that was as good an excuse as any. Wait, by bigger did his brother mean fatter? He would spend a considerable amount of time debating on the subject later – right now Riddi’s sudden change in expression and tone were becoming a far too great a temptation for the young blue-eyed cub. He didn’t understand his older brother’s aversion to the mud, not when he didn’t even have a coat as white as Bokkie and, well, it was kind of hard to avoid the mud in a swamp.

“But Riddi, you were being so niiiice.” Bokkie said with a grin, taking a few steps towards his brother. If he ran, he’d probably fall anyway and Riddi would most likely disappear before he knew it. The pale cub was far below the level of the quick sprints and sudden swerves that this chase would require. For a moment he considered throwing some mud at his brother but that would’ve been really nasty considering Riddi was helping him so the white cub decided to simply continue his light tease. “C’mon Riddi, give me a hug!” and with that he broke with a rather uncoordinated run towards his brown brother.

Riddi wasn't aware of Bokkie's musing on his meaning toward 'bigger'. Which he was so reluctant in saying earlier due to Riddi's dislike in admitting the fact that his younger sibling as larger than him all around. Bokkie was physically taller and more built. If it was baby fat or muscle, Riddi didn't know... or dwell on it. He was far too busy stressing over his lack of height.

It was a peculiar sight to see sub whose coloration was reminiscent to mud still fretted over getting dirty. If Bokkie asked, Riddi might have explained that he didn't like the sensation of drying mud in his fur, or the crusty feeling that accompanied.

Riddi was tense, more worried about getting out of reach. Once he was a safe distance, the cub knew he didn't have to worry about getting caught. Maybe keeping Bokkie clumsy might be a good thing? Riddi wouldn't ever have to worry about getting caught by him. Being forced to do horrible things like... hugging!

The cub turned tail and hopped behind a log, popping his head up briefly and comically after Bokkie again talked of hugging. "Nope!" His head darted back down like a gopher. But while hidden behind the log, Riddi thought up an idea. "Heeeey... if you can catch me, I'll let you hug me and muddy me all up. You game?"

(Shall we start a 'Part 2' thread? Or shall be just fade to black? )

Bokkie laughed rather loudly when his brother’s head popped up from the other side of the log. Riddi’s reactions were very amusing indeed, even more than he had expected when first mentioning the mud.

“Alright!” He liked a challenge even if the chances of catching Riddi weren’t particularly good. The prize of getting mud all over his brother was definitely worth a try and - who knew? – he might actually get lucky. “Ready or not, here I come.” And with a happy little cubbish giggle, the blue-eyed cub sprinted forward. Let the chase begin!

- FIN! -
